Strange Voting Mailers

28 10 2010

I got a mailer today from another political group. Before I put it in the fireplace for a proper burning, with the other 60,000 mailers I’ve received this year, I actually stopped a moment to read it. And the only reason it caught my eye is because something about it just didn’t feel right. Yeah, this one was different.

Being the nosy dweeb that I am, I started to look into it. Now that I have done so, I thought I would share with all of you. Instead of me writing out all the thoughts about this mailer I’m going to give you a URL. Please go to the following URL and read about this mailer. Almost all the questions and answers I could supply are answered by these people.

Before you go and read about it I just want to say… This is done by an organization headed-up by Lynn Cheney, Dick Cheney’s daughter. I like Lynn, but this mailer has left a bad taste in my mouth, can anyone assure me that I’m just being paranoid?

Another Lousy Website

27 10 2010

I recently found this website and thought that some of you might get a kick out of it. Their main focus has to do with using bad words. In their infinite wisdom they have decided that the word “illegal” is as bad as calling someone the dreaded N-word! I’m not kidding either. This entire website is devoted to doing away with the word “ILLEGAL” forevermore.

Enjoy…

Gio-

P.S.  You can even go there and sign a petition to “drop the i-word”. I’m not kidding.

http://colorlines.com

You wouldn’t call someone a w*tback, or the n-word. Saying “illegals” is just as bad.

The I-Word creates an environment of hate by exploiting racial fear and economic anxiety, creating an easy scapegoat for complex issues, and OK-ing violence against those labeled with the word.

People are not illegal.      Let’s stop feeding the hate machine.      Drop the I-Word.

Conservatives Punish Their Enemies

26 10 2010

No doubt everyone has heard about Obama treading on impeachable territory today. If not, here’s the snip you need to know about. (There is audio but I can’t get it to load here but I am trying to fix)…

In a radio interview that aired on Univision on Monday, Mr. Obama sought to assure Hispanics that he would push an immigration overhaul after the midterm elections, despite fierce Republican opposition.

“If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, ‘We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it’s gonna be harder and that’s why I think it’s so important that people focus on voting on November 2.”

Referring specifically to Republicans such as Senator John McCain, who are stressing border security and supporting strict immigration laws like Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration measure, Mr. Obama said, “Those aren’t the kinds of folks who represent our core American values.”

In case it didn’t sink-in what he said…

‘We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,’…

…“Those aren’t the kinds of folks who represent our core American values.”

The only thing we Conservatives can do this close to election day is to fight back…

1.  MAKE DAMN SURE YOU GET EVERY SINGLE PERSON YOU KNOW TO GO AND SHOW UP ON NEXT TUESDAY. ALSO MAKE SURE THEY UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE VOTING AGAINST OBAMA AND HIS MARXIST DEMOCRAT PARTY, THE NEW ANTI-AMERICAN PARTY. AND WE MUST “PUNISH OUR ENEMIES”.

2.  LET EVERYONE YOU COME IN CONTACT WITH KNOW THAT THE DEMOCRAT PARTY HAS BEEN COMPLETELY TAKEN OVER BY MARXISTS. AND WE MUST “PUNISH OUR ENEMIES”!

3.  ONCE THIS ELECTION IS OVER MAKE SURE YOU SIGN ANY AND ALL PETITIONS CALLING FOR THE IMPEACHMENT OF OBAMA. THEN FOLLOW-UP BY ATTENDING ANY AND ALL RALLIES HELD FOR THE IMPEACHMENT OF OBAMA. AND ONCE AGAIN… “WE MUST PUNISH OUR ENEMIES”.

Real Americans Saves Prayer

25 10 2010

Americans are finally saying E-N-O-U-G-H.

Scores of fans and students joined Soddy-Daisy and Rhea County high school football players for a pregame prayer on the 50-yard line of the Rhea County stadium Friday night.

School board member Rhonda Thurman, who was not at the game, said she is proud of the students.

“I think that’s wonderful,” Thurman said. “I think that’s their absolute right and praise God.”

Loudspeaker prayers before football games at Hamilton County Schools were banned this week after a national organization admonished Hamilton County Schools administrators to ban the practice when some Soddy-Daisy students complained.

On Tuesday, Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Jim Scales banned the prayers in an e-mail, citing U.S. Supreme Court rulings that such prayers are unconstitutional.

Bimbo McCawley, a Rhea County School Board member, said the prayer was a way to show Scales they understood his between-a-rock-and-hard-place position.

“We live in the buckle of the Bible belt,” McCawley said. “People in the community adhere to the beliefs. We did this out of respect for Dr. Scales because we realize he had no choice.”

Danielle Clark, spokeswoman for Hamilton County Schools, could not be reached for comment Friday night.

Facebook groups erupted with thousands of members who were against the ban.

Fans were encouraged to join in the pregame prayer, which left both stands empty except for about 100 or so people who remained behind.

Football players took the field hand-in-hand, but it was unclear who was leading the prayer as students wanted to avoid the loudspeaker situation that has been so hotly contested in recent days.

“I take pride in my community, and I take pride in the students,” McCawley said. “This is a student-led activity.”

Only those who were on the field know exactly what was prayed for, but onlookers said it was simply a prayer between teams followed by a mass “amen.”

Players from Calhoun High School also kneeled to pray at the start of their game Friday against Dade County High School in Trenton, Ga.

The Outing Of A Bigot

25 10 2010

The woman that is responsible for the following video should be given an award. If not already happily married I would court this woman until she said ‘yes’. What she has done is a small victory, but it is another victory to hang our hats on. I love this woman!

PLEASE… Pass this around today. Its brand new and needs attention.

Illegals Working For Candidates (Dems of course)

SEATTLE (AP) — When Maria Gianni is knocking on voters’ doors, she’s not bashful about telling people she is in the country illegally. She knows it‘s a risk to advertise to strangers that she’s here illegally — but one worth taking in what she sees as a crucial election.

The 42-year-old is one of dozens of volunteers — many of them illegal immigrants — canvassing neighborhoods in the Seattle area trying to get naturalized citizens to cast a ballot for candidates like Democratic Sen. Patty Murray, who is in a neck-to-neck race with Republican Dino Rossi.

Pramila Jayapal, head of OneAmerica Votes, says the campaign is about empowering immigrants who may not feel like they can contribute to a campaign because they can’t vote.

“Immigrants really do matter,” Jayapal said. “If we can’t vote ourselves, we’re gonna knock on doors, or get family members to vote.”

So far the illegal immigrants going door-to-door aren’t meeting opposition. Craig Keller, an organizer for Respect WA, a group pushing for stricter immigration law in the Washington, said he doesn’t mind illegal immigrants volunteering for vote drives, he just wants to make sure mistakes on the voter rolls don’t allow them to vote.

“Anybody can go out and wave a sign, but when it comes to who’s making the choices, there’s no question they need to be citizens,” Keller said.

In close elections across the country, the immigrant and minority vote is considered key for candidates, especially Democrats.

Earlier this week in Nevada, a television ad urging Latinos not to vote sparked outcry from Democrats, who called it a dirty trick meant to keep Hispanics home and boost Republican candidates. Univision and Telemundo — the nation’s two largest Spanish-language networks — canceled the ad, which the Republican group Latinos for Reform had planned to eventually run in Nevada, Florida, California, Texas and Colorado through the Nov. 2 election.

Seattle is home to a wide array of immigrant communities, from Latinos to east Africans and Asians.

Congress declined this year to consider overhauling the country’s immigration law, much to the chagrin of immigrant advocates who had expected Democrats to do so by now.

Still, OneAmerica Votes launched one of the largest get-out-the-vote campaigns in the state on behalf of Democratic candidates. The organization is an offshoot of OneAmerica, one of the state’s largest and the most influential immigrant-rights advocacy group.

Through home visits, phone banks and mailings the organization is aiming to reach about 40,000 registered voters in the Seattle area in an attempt to help Democrats gain ground in key races. Volunteers include other types of people who can’t vote, such as legal permanent residents.

About 150 volunteers rolled out in nine cities across Washington this past week, knocking on 3,000 doors.

In Bellevue, a city of nearly 123,000 east of Seattle, Gianni knocked on 25 doors and spoke to 15 people, she said.

One man, a naturalized citizen from the Philippines, said he knew what she was going through after she shared she was in the country illegally.

“There’s always a risk,” Gianni said in Spanish about her legal status. “But if there’s a change, I would feel like I contributed, even in a small part, to a change we all need.”

Gianni arrived in the United States on a visa 13 years ago looking for work and stayed. For a while her only son lived here, but has since moved back to Mexico.

“In order for there to be a change to our broken immigration system,” she said, “I believe one has to fight.”
