United We Stand…

2 03 2010

Now that I’m back from my short sabbatical, my first official act as owner of this blog is to post this opinion piece by Tom in NC. Enjoy…

United we stand, Divided we fall

Lately I’ve been reading a lot on the web about Conservatives vs Republicans, if we really want to destroy the democrats in November we must stick together. I’m not saying we should give up our Conservative principles but we have to keep in mind that Rome wasn’t built in a day. We need to get our best and brightest and get them into office but holding them to a strict all or nothing set of principles could be a recipe for disaster, we have to be realistic in our approach to this election, have to have a little give and take. RINO’s like McCain and others no doubt need to go and while I don’t want to just replace them with more RINO’s, we have to keep in mind the want’s and needs of the voters in the different states. Take the recent election in Massachusetts, Scott Brown while conservative in many ways is not a staunch Conservative but he knows what the voters of his state want and he gave it to them.
I know this sounds wishy washy to some people, heck it even sounds that way to me as I typing it I guess the bottom line is I just know if we don’t take control again from the democrats this year then our country is lost. All the hard work and sacrifice of 200+ years will be erased and our country will be on the fast track to becoming just a footnote in history.
What made this country a superpower in this world, economically, militarily, and in Reagan’s words “America is a shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere.” is being systematically dismantled right before our eyes by subhuman socialists who have been lying in wait for decades just to strangle the life out this country. If we have any hope of stopping this downward spiral it the utter and complete defeat of the democrats come November, nothing less is acceptable.
Not meaning to preach here, but allow me to quote Jesus from Matthew 12:25, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand”. If we do not stand together, if we allow differences to come between us, if we think a third party is the way to go then we could face defeat in November and in 2012.

I understand your point…but how can we stand together w/those that do not have our beliefs? Those on the progressive side don’t want freedom from govt, they want govt control. Spend like there is no tomorrow, give away all the entitlements, control our HC, take over private sector business, etc. etc.

It is all just frustrating to me and I don’t see an answer until some one, with some strong stance steps up to the plate to put an end to this madness!

I think you might have missed that I was talking about Conservatives and Republicans only. I think the Republicans are finally starting to get it. Not all of them though, we still have to deal with the Lindsey Graham’s, John McCain’s, etc and I’m all for giving them the boot.

What I was trying to say is that replacing the RINO’s might be a lengthy process taking several election cycles before getting a strong CONSERVATIVE majority and in the meantime our main objective should be to get rid of as many liberal democrats as fast as possible.

The Republicans will get the message, either go back to Conservative principles face the end of your political career. If last week at that healthcare summit is any indication, they are starting to wake up.

That last paragraph should read:

either go back to Conservative principles OR face the end of your political career

Ok get it! Think we still have a ways to go before RINOs are gone…

Ok, so then where does this leave us?

1. We could go Democrat. (then shoot ourselves in the head)
2. We could go Independent.
3. We could go Republican.
4. Or we could go to one of the 20 or so other parties that are recognized in this country.

#1. Is out of the question, at least for me. I would rather lose a body part than become a Democrat.

#2. At the moment people seem to equate Independent and Libertarian as the same. Of course they are not, but perception is a powerful thing. Personally, I have decided that I will not vote Libertarian. They are too close to Anarchy for my tastes. And I don’t agree with their positions on legalizing drug use, and ending the war on drugs.

#3. Going Republican is both the easiest decision and the hardest decision all at the same time. They have the party machinery in place. They have some candidates that I would consider Conservative. But the rest of them are pathetic and should be treated accordingly. If 2/3rds of the GOP would sign some sort of agreement whereby they return to Conservative values, while following and respecting our Constitution, they could get me to vote for them. I have made a promise to myself that I will never vote party-line again. Each and every candidate that wants my vote will have to earn it.

#4. Unless an incredible leader shows up on our radar running as a candidate in one of the many small and unknown parties, I don’t see me going this route. The one exception is the Constitution Party. I have read their platform and I’m impressed.

So where does this leave all of us… It leaves us with an incredible amount of power in the next election. We must make sure to not squander this power.
