As a veteran of the USAF, I remember those days as perhaps the best of my life and the hardest as well. The comraderie that I shared with my fellow airmen is unequalled in civilian life, everybody knew the mission and worked hard to achieve it, we played hard too, get togethers after duty hours were common and we never tired of each others company. A brotherhood is the best way to describe what military members have, we have a love and respect for each other that is not seen in civilian circles. We know we can depend on each other and share our problems and solve our disputes respectfully.

So on this Veterans Day, I salute my fellow veterans, to those who fought in foreign lands, to those who never came home, to those family members who lost a mother, father, son or daughter, brother or sister. To the veterans who served during times of peace as well as war, we respect your sacrifice, your sometimes long and lonely deployments to far and desolate outposts. Your preparations and drills for attacks that thankfully never came.

Our veterans and military members kept us and continue to keep us safe, they fly(flew) missions, sail(ed) on massive ships, trod through dense jungles and sun baked deserts 24-7 while we worked, slept and went about our daily lives and will continue to do so. They know the world is a dangerous place and our enemies both foreign and domestic are still a threat but our military will do all it can to protect us, including the ultimate sacrifice.

So today especially, if you know a veteran our see a member in uniform, thank him or her, it will truly warm their heart in a way you can’t imagine.

There is nothing I can add to what you so eloquently wrote.

God bless our Vets, those living and those now serving with the Lord.
