Hollywood Turning Against Obama?

3 11 2009

False God

Tonight, ABC debuts a new drama sci-fi series called “V.” Well, it seems “V” is a not-so-subtle allusion and warning about the Obama Deception!

Amazing, uh? Even Hollywood is beginning to “get” it about Obama.

Conservatives should support the makers of “V” by watching the series!

……………….

‘V’ aims at Obamamania

"V"

Imagine this. At a time of political turmoil, a charismatic, telegenic new leader arrives virtually out of nowhere. He offers a message of hope and reconciliation based on compromise and promises to marshal technology for a better future that will include universal health care.

The news media swoons in admiration — one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: “Why don’t you show some respect?!” The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader’s origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: “Embracing change is never easy.”

So, does that sound like anyone you know? Oh, wait — did I mention the leader is secretly a totalitarian space lizard who’s come here to eat us?

Welcome to ABC’s “V,” the most fascinating and bound to be the most controversial new show of the fall television season. Nominally a rousing sci-fi space opera about alien invaders bent on the conquest (and digestion) of all humanity, it’s also a barbed commentary on Obamamania that will infuriate the president’s supporters and delight his detractors.

“We’re all so quick to jump on the bandwagon,” observes one character. “A ride on the bandwagon, it sounds like fun. But before we get on, let us at least make sure it is sturdy.”

The bandwagon in this case is conspicuously saucer-shaped. “V” starts with the arrival of a couple of dozen ships from outer space, piloted by creatures who look like humans except a lot prettier. “Don’t be frightened,” says their luminously beautiful leader Anna (Morena Baccarin, “Serenity”). “We mean no harm.”

The aliens — who become known as V’s, for visitors — quickly enthrall their wide-eyed human hosts.

A handful of dissidents hold out against the rapturous reception given the V’s. Some are simply uneasy, such as the youthful priest Father Jack (Joel Gretsch, “The 4400”), who sharply criticizes the Vatican’s embrace of the V’s as divine creations: “Rattlesnakes are God’s creatures too.”

With or without the political sheen, “V” is sweeping television storytelling at its best. Whether you choose to view it as a blood-and-guts war story, a spy thriller (unlike the original show, these V’s are perfect replicas of humans, so you never really know who might be sitting beside you at the bar), a high-stakes family drama (as households divide over the intentions of the V’s), a religious allegory (the V’s make a crippled man walk, filling up churches again) or just a sci-fi throwback to the days of “Earth vs. the Flying Saucers” and “The Thing,” “V” is irresistible. This bandwagon is definitely worth jumping on.

Wasn’t it ABC who made the animated sitcom “The Goode Family” which made fun of the environmental movement? Are we seeing a trend here?

I watched V while flipping back and forth to Fox news for election returns. The resemblances between the show and the Obama election is astounding. No I don’t think Obama is a human devouring lizard from another world (eventhough he is taking huge bites out of our freedoms), but what made me stand and take notice were the people of this planet, so trusting, so willing to accept the V’s without knowing hardly anything about them. We see a pretty, handsome face, like what the are saying and/or offering and bang, the next thing we see are people praying to them like they are our saviors, sound familiar?

Tom, I heard them talking about this on Glen Beck today. They were amazed at the similarities….there was even a part on Universal health care? I did not see it, but will next week. The said there were so many inside joke/comparisons that they were amazed that they got it on the air. Also did anyone see meet the press Sunday? Supposedly David Gregory grilled Geitner about the Stimulus money and the bogus jobs saved/created? I’ll try and hunt down on youtube. Could it be a ray of hope that the Media is finally asking questions? Or could it be that their ratings could not go any lower and Fox’s are thru the roof and some genius said…”Hay…why don’t we actually report some news.duh and let’s see what happens” I think the way they said it on Beck was it wasn’t a”Media Storm” Just a Media sprinkle……Hey a little here a little there….We might take this down peacefully yet……….damn, what am I gonna to with all my out door sporting goods…………..LOL

Fail! V is an update of a story that was based on the hoopla surrounding the “Great Actor” a.k.a. Ronald Reagan, all they did was update the special effects, and use a less talented (read as less expensive to hire) cast.
But then you republicans have always ignored history and the facts when it made for a good bullshit story. Case in point: Lincoln was a Liberal, not a conservitive, the conservitives all supported slavery, and the confederacy.

rwheflin,

Nice trick you tried there. Mixing old meanings of names like Liberal or Conservative with modern versions of what they mean to try and pull off a win is considered tacky around here.

“V” is so full of references to Obama it’s not even one bit funny. It’s actually downright worrisome!

hey wheezyflin…………..where did you learn this in some liberal arts college? Would you mind backing this drivel up with some facts, before I waste my time blowing you out of the water. So I guess that Hopey Changey thing is working out for ya………….guess ya didn’t catch any election results yesterday……….LOL

Which facts would those Be Steve, the facts that the then very new Republican party was formed because it’s members felt the country was being held back by the ideas being presented by the existing parties who they felt were far to conservative and weere stifiling both the growth of the country and the liberty and wellbeing of its’ citizens, and that while Lincoln personally felt slavery was an issue for the individual states to resolve for themselves, he agreed to accept the party platform which stressed its abolishment, or the fact that the 30 year old story of “V” was changed only to update dialog, special effects, and cost of production, or the fact that you couldn’t blow water out of your ears with dynamite.

As for election results, two states replaced ineffectual Governors, having recently moved from VA. I can assure you, Deeds would have lost to a dead man, as the citizens were unhappy with his incompatance. By way, this is the first time I’ve ever heard the U.S. Army refered to as a “liberal arts college”,
maybe while I was off defending our country, you should of atleast tried to get an education.

rwheflin, Thank You for your service to our country and helping to defend the constitution and protect our freedom.

I wonder though, how would you feel today with obama as CIC? He is entertaining questionable visitors to the White House, playing golf, trying to force us to take his idea of healthcare and not coming through on his campaign promise to win the Afghanistan War. Soldiers are dying and being maimed, Gen. McChrystal has asked for what he needs and yet obama still hasn’t decided what to do!

Mr. Heflin,

I know full well Steve can take care of himself, but he is my friend and I do not like to see my friend being mistreated.

Steve asked you for a source(s) for your claim that the original “V” was about the dastardly Ronald Reagan. Instead of providing your source(s), which a responsible person would do, you ridiculed Steve by calling him lowly educated. What I find quite hilarious is how you castigated Steve:

“maybe while I was off defending our country, you should of atleast tried to get an education.”

“you should of” ?

Can’t you write? Nor is this the only example. Here are more from your comment to Steve:

“because it’s members felt the country was being held back by the ideas being presented by the existing parties who they felt were far to conservative and weere stifiling both the growth of the country and the liberty and wellbeing of its’ citizens.”

A couple of the above errors are probably typing mistakes, but it’s members and its’ citizens? Can’t you make up your mind? (Of course, the answer is that BOTH versions are wrong! LOL)

I also checked out your little blog and found numerous instances of poor grammar and misspellings.

He who lives in a glass house should not throw stones. You’re hardly the person to have his nose snobbishly up in the air looking down on Steve.

Eowyn: Great post. I never point out grammar, spelling, or punctuation mistakes because I’m guilty myself of making many mistakes. BUT, when people start attacking my friends because of nitpicking issues, I will stand with my friends just as you have. Steve is a great conservative and he loves our country, and it’s an honor to be associated with him.

First Thank you to my True Warrior friends Eowyn and muffin…You guys rock and you know I have your back against any nitwit as well..oops did I say nitwit? Do you think he’ll think I’m talking about him…..shhhh wink wink

Thanks for your service to our Country, but that does not condone your insulting my education, do you know anything about my education? And your very humorous remark about dynamite in the ears. That being said I questioned not so much your V premise, although you seem to be about the only one in America who can not clearly see it has been updated to reflect current events and the current POTUS. What I wanted to know was how do you know, and what facts do you have to support Lincoln being a Liberal? I do believe if my memory serves he was elected as a Republican………Which by the way meant something entirely different a long time ago. We are not Republicans, nor do we care for them. We are Proud Conservatives. PS. That’s how ya spell it. Not a stickler for spelling, but here I’ll make an exception.

Then you go on to say “You Republicans always ignored history and facts”….so let’s summarize shall we. The article was about a show Called “V” Who every one but you was comparing to current Admin. You reach back to attack Ronald Reagan……….now that’s a stretch………….Now let’s really leap back and you call Honest Abe Liberal, who sorta had to be drawn into this slavery thing kicking and screaming when “he sorta went along with it.” Know what …I bet he was a Racist too…….know why…..because he had all the poor black slaves, or Negroes as they were called in those days……you know what he did…..he had the gall to declare them only 3/5th of a Human Being. Now that’s awful, just not right. I mean how low can you go. God created us all equal, right. Don’t you think that’s awful and shows Abe was a racist. The one thing bothering me though is that damn pesky Emancipation Proclamation.

giovanni- I only know of these definitions for liberal and conservative, which come from the American Heritage Dictionary:
Conservative – Favoring traditional views and values. ; Tending to oppose change.

Liberal – Open minded, tolerant. ; Favoring civil and political liberties, democratic reforms, and protection from arbitrary authority.

If you have any other example of these “old” definitions please cite them

Bob – The dithering bothers me greatly, but no more than the idea of go after the real enemy, Al Queda, in Afghanistan back in 2001, and then dropping the ball to go fight a war that had nothing to do with the war on terrorism. I’m probably one of the few people you’ll find willing to believe that Bush really did believe that the Intel from the U.K. was true, but Iraq was not the issue, and there were other measure which were ignored for that situation. If we had kept our eyes on the prize, we wouldn’t be in the mess in Afghanistan we’re in now. It seems that the trend started by Truman of the C-I-C second guessing his generals has screwed up our chances of success in Afghanistan, and if the president wastes much more time, we may not be able to salvage the situation. I, like most Veterans and active duty military would like to see a return to the way things were before the death of Roosevelt, but as the trend has been set, I’m not holding my breath till it happens.

rwheflin,

Thank you, I can appreciate where you are coming from.

I used to think that the dictionary definition of conservative and liberal were what the political parties were basing their discriptions on, That’s not true to form. Conservatives are not opposed to change in the broader sense of the word. However as for me I disagreed with the change to take God out of schools and gov’t. We were founded by people who understood the need to put God first in all things. Liberals are not protecting us from arbitrary authority, Obama is DICTATING to us “You’ll take this healthcare reform period”. The constitution does not provide for the gov’t to dictate healthcare, It does however provide for the establishment of bankruptcy laws, NOT BAILOUTS with taxpayer funds.

The definitions are what had me confused for many years, but I know that I cherish, living in this country, and the liberties and protection of rights provided by the constitution. I am not registered Democrat or Republican because I see them saying whatever it takes to get votes. I vote for who I believe will best serve the way the founding fathers intended this country to be run.

Obama is a DO-NOTHING President who has no idea what he’s doing.

Just empty rhetoric.

His only ideas are totally wrong and destructive to peoples lives and businesses.
