H/t proactive GiovanniWorld member Steve!

Last night, this blog’s fearless leader, Gio, left a comment on the “Sunday Open Thread” post:

“Why is it that Balloon Boy has been the #1 News Subject since Friday? C’mon all you clear thinking people, we are watching our country be destroyed by a Communist and the BIG story is Balloon Boy????”

In our national inattention to what really matters and our concomitant fascination with trivia, both the media and the American people bear some responsibility. But is there another hand behind this?

GiovanniWorld member Conservative A-hole (formerly known as Booyah) observed:

“I think the answer is clear.  We have seen this for about 9 months now. ANYTHING that can be used to redirect our attention away from the activities of Obama’s administration, will be beaten to death by the corrupt media. Did we really need nearly 2 weeks of Michael Jackson when historic protests were happening in Iran…or a “Climate change bill” that was quickly passed in the dark of night while all cameras were pointed at preparations of a funeral procession.  If there is something the left needs to get done, they will call ‘their’ media and direct the coverage away from the real issues.”

The Left are sure to dismiss Gio and Boo as paranoic rants…except, we now have evidence in support!

And the evidence is straight from the horse’s snake’s mouth — none other than Anita Dung Dunn, White House Communications Director and admirer of mass murderer Mao Zedong.

Dunn is a longtime Democratic Party operative. Presently married to Obama’s personal attorney, Robert Bauer, Dunn joined Obama’s presidential campaign in Feb. 2008 and quickly became one of the major decision makers of the campaign. [source]

At a Jan. 12, 2009 conference on Obama’s media tactics, hosted by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Dunn revealed that Obama’s presidential campaign focused on “making” the news media cover certain issues while rarely communicating anything to the press unless it was “controlled.” She said:

“…a huge part of our press strategy was focused on making the media cover what Obama was actually saying as opposed to why the campaign was saying it, what the tactic was. Very rarely did we communicate through the press anything that we didn’t absolutely control.”

Note how Dunn mistakenly referred to Obama as “President Obama” instead of Senator Obama! — she did this on January 12th, EIGHT days before Obama was sworn in as president.

Note also how utterly inarticulate she is, complete with frantic hand-waving gestures. It sure doesn’t take much to be White House communications director!

Here’s the video of Dunn’s remarks at the conference:

Still not convinced? How about this latest news

Yesterday, Obama stepped up his war against Fox News by sending out his mouthpieces to demonize Fox News on the various Sunday morning talk shows.

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told CNN that Obama does not want “the CNNs and the others in the world [to] basically be led in following Fox.” Obama senior adviser David Axelrod went further by calling on media outlets to join the administration in declaring that Fox is “not a news organization.”

Here’s a prediction:

Before long, Fox reporters will be barred from White House news briefings.

Beck is doing a segment on this now. It’s great. Yeah, I’m a Beck fan and I’m not ashamed of it. 🙂

Nothing to be ashamed of. He is one of the very few people in the country telling the truth to the best of his knowledge, which so far, his knowledge has been pretty damn good!

I always believe that certain people come along at the right time in history, and today is no different.

My Dad told me to start watching Beck. Dad used to watch him on CNN and always said he didn’t belong on that station. I try to watch his show whenever I can. Yes, he does tell the truth. I love the fact that he installed a special phone so the WH can call him immediately if he gives any misinformation. That was extremely clever of Beck. I’ve noticed the phone never rings. 🙂

Your timing is superb!

Glenn Beck just spent the first 20 minutes of his show discussing this very same video with Anita “I love Mao” Dunn.

Just to temper things down a bit, I don’t think there’s too-too much to this video (kinda like it wasn’t rape-rape, right whoopi?) It was filmed before inauguration day, and I’m pretty sure the premise was for Anita “cud-chewer” Dunn to explain (did you hear “brag”?) about the successes they had in running their campaign. In my view, there’s nothing wrong with how they did it- the problem was that the media didn’t demand more from them.

The obvious question is, are they using similar tactics now that Dumbo’s in office? I’d say “probably, somewhat” but again, it falls on the media to demand more. That’s not going to happen with questions regarding “some enchanted evening” or little kid plants at closed townhalls. What is happening though, I think, and only to a small degree thus far, is that some in the media are starting to recognize how they’re being played, and are getting slightly concerned about what it might take for them to be “Foxed.” It remains to be seen if this WH strategy is able to strongarm the other networks entirely. I think if they back off the “be like we want you to be” message now, and move on to something else, the MSM will go back to being cooperative lapdogs; but if Dunn and Dumber keep pressing this, they might actually get some resistance.

Doc's Wife

Wouldn’t miss Glen Beck for the world. Just finished listening to today’s show while on my way home from Atlanta. WAAAY too many Obama stickers there! Free speech is definitely in serious trouble’ but these moves may only increase Fox’s viewers’ and blow up in their faces!
