DCG: We’re glad you survived another round of layoffs! We hope you never become a statistic.

I’m reading Glenn Beck’s “Arguing with Idiots.” This book is wonderful! I would recommend to all. Just bought it yesterday and can hardly put it down.

Speaking of Glenn, here’s a link to the political cartoons on his site. You’ll love “Ego Man” at the bottom of the page:

I am very upset about Balloon Boy being a hoax. I was very worried when I thought he was in the balloon, and then when the newscaster said something fell out of the balloon and they couldn’t find the boy. This whole thing was just WRONG!

Muffin,

Did you see that the Balloon Boy’s dad, who calls himself a meteorologist, has nothing beyond a high school education?

I feel sorry for the kids ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Thanks…marketing staff (overhead) tends to get slashed early. Fortunately my company values it. it’s scary out there right now but am keeping my fingers crossed I survive through the end of the year!

Ballon boy’s parents need evaluation – they make me sick! I hope they have to pay back every penny it cost the county/sheriff’s departments.

Hi ALL. I got this info in an email message. I thought you may enjoy it.

How Gubmint Works

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said, “Someone may steal from it at night.” So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, “How does the watchman do his job without instruction?” So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.

Then Congress said, “How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?” So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write the reports.

Then Congress said, “How are these people going to get paid?” So They created the following positions, a time keeper, and a payroll officer, Then hired two people.

Then Congress said, “Who will be accountable for all of these people?” So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, “We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $18,000 over budget, we must cut back overall cost.”

So they laid off the night watchman.

NOW slowly..

Let it sink in. Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter.

Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY …. During the Carter Administration?

Anybody?
Anything?
No?
Didn’t think so!

Bottom line. We’ve spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency. . . . the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember!

Ready??
It was very simple … and at the time, everybody thought it very appropriate.

The Department of Energy was instituted on 8-04-1977.
TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Hey, pretty efficient, huh???

AND NOW, IT’S 2009 — 32 YEARS LATER — AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS “NECESSARY” DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, “WHAT WAS I THINKING?”

Ah, yes — good ole bureaucracy.
AND, NOW, WE ARE GOING TO TURN THE BANKING SYSTEM, HEALTH CARE AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY OVER TO THE SAME GOVERNMENT?

Well… we do get only 70% of our oil from foreign sources. It could be 100%. This government program WORKS!

Just kidding, I haven’t lost my mind yet!

LOL Gio,

We need your mind to continue to do the research and post the important information that you provide for us.

Eowyn: I understand that child services has been called in. Making your kids lie is a bad thing!

Boo – Good to hear from you. Believe it or not, I actually knew why the DOE was started. In Beck’s book it says in 1980’s we were importing about 1/3 of our oil. Now we are importing 70% of our oil. WHY?????

Ok- a joke:

A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money.

The first does a total make over. She goes to a fancy beauty salon gets her hair done, new make up and buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much.

The man was impressed.

The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much.

Again, the man is impressed.

The third invests the money in the stock market. She earns several times the $5,000. She gives him back his $5,000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.

Obviously, the man was impressed.

The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he’d given her.

Then, he married the one with the biggest boobs.

Men are like that, you know ๐Ÿ™‚

Very funny!

Even if it’s courtesy of plastic surgery?

The other day, I happened on an old movie (forgot the name) from the early 1960s. The women all looked flat-chested compared to women today. Sometime beginning in the 1980s (?), there was a stealth invasion of America by UFO aliens, who replaced American women with silicon-based life forms. LOL

Maybe late 80’s. I can remember back in high school (class of ’83) that there seemed to be three or four young ladies that had, well, something for us guys to talk about. Other than that, nada on the tatas. Now my brother’s class (’87) seemed to be better, ahem, proportioned. I always blamed it on something in the water.

BTW- I updated my cap-n-trade xray ‘shop. I never really liked the caption and Gio pointed out to me the incoherence of it (lol). The new version is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sgtkey0811/4027043450/sizes/l/in/set-72157621720095249/ If you “see” him, please pass this along.

Thank ya!

My last gripe before we start a new week…

Why is it that Balloon Boy has been the #1 News Subject since Friday? C’mon all you clear thinking people, we are watching our country be destroyed by a Communist and the BIG story is Balloon Boy????

Gio,

I think the answer is clear. We have seen this for about 9 months now. ANYTHING that can be used to redirect our attention away from the activities of obama’s administration, will be beaten to death by the corrupt media. Did we really need nearly 2 weeks of Michael Jackson when historic protests were happening in Iran…or a “Climate change bill” that was quickly passed in the dark of night while all cameras were pointed at preperations of a funeral procession. If there is something the left needs to get done, they will call ‘their’ media and direct the coverage away from the real issues. NO…..I’m not bitter. ๐Ÿ™‚

Boo,

Your suspicions are confirmed by this news today: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=113347

President Obama’s presidential campaign focused on “making” the news media cover certain issues while rarely communicating anything to the press unless it was “controlled,” White House Communications Director Anita Dunn disclosed to the Dominican government at a videotaped conference.
