Rangel is the corpulent one, appropriately on the left.
Good news and bad news on Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY), considered one of 15 most corrupt members of Congress by the group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.
First, the bad news. Yesterday, Oct. 7, the House voted largely along party lines to allow Rangel to keep his chairmanship of the powerful tax-writing Ways and Means Committee.
The good news is that today, the House Ethics Committee announced that it is expanding its investigation of Rangel to include his financial disclosure reports, which show hundreds of thousands of dollars in previously undeclared personal assets and income. The committee’s vote to widen its investigation was bipartisan and unanimous. [Source]
Isn’t it sad that we are surprised and elated when our elected representatives actually do the right thing?
