Cracking ACORN

30 09 2009

Just a short note and an article letting you know that we will be following the ACORN story closely. I’m betting this is the beginning of the end for ACORN, and I couldn’t be happier!

Former ACORN worker details blackjack voter registration bonuses

A former field director testifies about extra payments to Las Vegas canvassers for bringing in 21 new registration cards in a day.

Reporting from Las Vegas – In the summer of 2008, with presidential contenders battling fiercely over the swing state of Nevada, Christopher Edwards was racing to register voters.

As the field director of ACORN’s Las Vegas office, he brainstormed a way to motivate meagerly paid canvassers: If they turned in 21 or more registration cards in a day, they were each given a $5 bonus.

“Hey, it’s Las Vegas,” Edwards testified Tuesday. “It’s blackjack.”

But Edwards’ “blackjack bonuses,” which he bragged about to other ACORN offices, broke the law, state prosecutors say. Nevada bars quotas or cash incentives in voter sign-up efforts: Officials fear they could lead to false registrations.

On Tuesday, a judge began considering whether Edwards’ former supervisor, Amy Busefink, and the Assn. of Community Organizations for Reform Now will stand trial on 13 low-level felony charges of compensation for registration of voters. The evidentiary hearing will resume this morning.

Edwards, a former union organizer who once worked for former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean, has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts. He took the stand Tuesday as the prosecution’s star witness.

“No one in ACORN knew this was illegal,” he told Justice of the Peace William D. Jansen.

In recent weeks, ACORN, a longtime target of Republican ire, has been battered by secretly recorded videos from other states that appear to show ACORN staffers advising two conservative activists — who were posing as a pimp and a prostitute — on tax evasion, human smuggling and child prostitution.

The IRS, Census Bureau and Bank of America have severed ties with ACORN, and Congress has voted to slash its federal funding. The controversies have heightened the attention paid to the Nevada case.

Clare Crawford, ACORN’s deputy political director, called the charges here “political grandstanding,” though Nevada’s secretary of state and attorney general are Democrats. Their investigation began in 2008, after Clark County officials complained that some registration forms issued to ACORN had come back fraudulent — in one instance, someone had signed up much of the Dallas Cowboys’ starting lineup.

Edwards, who said he was under pressure to boost the number of voter registration forms collected, oversaw as many as eight political organizers and their teams of canvassers. If canvassers, who made $8 an hour, turned in fewer than 20 registration cards a day, their jobs were at risk.

“I seen a lot of people getting laid off,” testified Dwain Dennie, an ACORN canvasser who worked outside a welfare office.

Edwards thought up the blackjack program as a response to canvassers who had falsified time cards or generally slacked off, he testified. It was an informal plan, announced on a huge office dry-erase board, but not in e-mails or memos — a fact that drew some derision from Jansen.

ACORN attorney Lisa Rasmussen suggested that bonuses marked on time sheets might have been for mileage, working in extreme heat or speaking multiple languages — not blackjack incentives.

Edwards, however, said that Busefink not only signed off on the program, she suggested that canvassers turn in more cards to get the bonus. She also praised the program, Edwards testified, saying it capitalized on the “Las Vegas mystique.”

Defense attorneys, however, portrayed Edwards as a rogue director with a “maverick attitude” who rarely informed superiors of his plans. Busefink attorney Kevin Stolworthy suggested that Edwards was bitter over workplace squabbles.

Empire State Building Goes Commie

30 09 2009

Whoever thought that this might be a good idea should be forced to undergo sterilization ASAP! There’s no reason why we should take any chances that this persons offspring would turn out like them!

ALeqM5g7cigmwZa1Iz1QX7VDfNnkRfwFrQBy tomorrow, I’m betting there are millions that feel the same as I do. One group of Americans that will take this news especially hard will be Veterans of the Korean and Vietnam wars. These veterans will remember that we went to war to STOP the spread of Communism, and now they get to have it rubbed in their faces that both wars ended badly for our military boys and girls.

aaaCommunist20PartyAs each day passes, I feel as if we are losing this country one piece at a time. This latest bone-headed move only re-inforces how I feel. If the Commies on the left think this is funny then they can all go straight to hell and they can take their Commie loving Obama with them. And people wonder why we Americans are getting angry!? It’s because of STUPID moves like this!!!

Empire State Building lit for China, drawing ire

By MARCUS FRANKLIN (AP) – 59 minutes ago

NEW YORK — Red and yellow lights shone from the top of the Empire State Building at dusk Wednesday, a tribute to communist China’s 60th anniversary that protesters labeled “blatant approval” of totalitarianism and criticized as inappropriate for an icon in the land of the free.

UncleSamTBA 3The building is routinely lit with different colors to mark holidays and big events, but opponents questioned whether it’s right to commemorate a sensitive political issue, particularly when China has such a poor human rights record.

About 20 supporters of Tibet, which China has ruled since shortly after communists took over in 1949, protested outside the building during a ceremonial lighting of a scale model inside the lobby. They chanted “No to China’s empire; free Tibet now,” and held signs reading, “Empire State Building celebrating 60 years of China’s oppression.”

Lhadon Tethong, executive director of Students for a Free Tibet, called the lighting “outright, blatant approval for a communist totalitarian system.”

“It’s a great public relations coup for the Chinese state,” Tethong said as tourists gawked at the protesters. “But on the other hand, it’s sure to backfire because the American public and the global public will speak against it.”

At the lobby ceremony, building manager Joseph Bellina called the lights a high honor and said he was proud of the relationship between “our countries and our people.”

Chinese Consul General Peng Keyu, who pulled the switch on the glass-encased model, said he was “honored and delighted.”

He said China’s reforms of the past 30 years have led to greater openness and “tremendous change.”

Keyu and Bellina didn’t address critics and declined to answer questions.

Journalist and blogger Marc Masferrer questioned legitimizing a government that continues to repress its citizens’ freedoms, including their access to media and the Internet.

“I don’t think one of our great landmarks should be turned into a platform to honor a regime and a system responsible for as much tragedy and all the other things that come with a repressive system,” he told The Associated Press.

Masferrer pointed out that this year is also the 20th anniversary of the violently crushed student-led movement in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. The People’s Liberation Army is believed to have killed hundreds, possibly thousands, of protesters.

Politicians united in their disdain.

Rep. Anthony Weiner, a New York Democrat, said the lights should not be used to pay tribute to what he called “an oppressive regime” with a “shameful history on human rights.”

Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican, said it was “a sad day for New York.”

“I am strongly opposed to it or any commemoration of the Communist Chinese revolution. It’s one thing to acknowledge the government; it’s totally immoral to honor it.”

The lights atop the building, which is owned by W&H Properties, are often are changed. For example, Italian colors — red, white and green — commemorate Columbus Day, while green, white and orange are displayed for the India Day parade.

For the Chinese anniversary, the lights were to remain on through early Thursday.

How Do You Spell Climate Change?

With all the talk about how the Polar Bear is on the edge of extinction due to Global Warming, I thought I would bring some balance to the argument. The truth is… Polar Bears are thriving! In fact, Polar Bears have made such a comeback that they are running out of room on the open ice to build good homes to raise their little baby Polar Bears. An unknown building contractor (until now), Polar Scapes LLC, has recently built 380 Units known as Ice Castle Condos, and has the first units on the market at a price that any Polar Bear can afford.

If you like what you see in the attached photo then send in your $20,000 dollar deposit to Al Gore The Fat Greedy Liar, LLC Inc. Simply address it to the largest Mansion in the state of Tennessee. When your contract comes in the mail, simply sign where all the X’s indicate, write another check for $20,000 dollars, and whatever you do, this is very important… DO NOT READ THE FINE PRINT!

One word of caution before you send in your deposit… NO PENGUINS ALLOWED! Those elitist snobs are always wearing those damn Tuxedo’s, which means they have never put in an honest days work in their life (kinda like Gore), and they have Fish-breath.

Signs, Part II

Part II of “Signs” is about Satanism in America’s pop culture. You are here forewarned that the material to follow is disturbing. Parents need to know what your children are watching and listening. Just as there is extreme violence in movies, TV, and video games today, there is a demonic element in contemporary music of which you should beware.

Jack Black salutes Satan at the 2009 MTV Music Awards

Jack Black salutes Satan by making the devil's horns handsign

Most of us know about Kanye West’s rude disruption of Taylor Swift’s moment in the sun at the recent MTV 2009 Video Music Awards. Few of us are aware that the entire evening was awash in occultism. VigilantCitizen has an eye-opening analysis HERE.

The most overtly occultish-Satanic part of the Awards was when actor Jack Black came out dressed as a heavy metal guy on steroids to promote a video game. At one point he asks the audience to put their devil horns in the air and then proceeds to pray to the “Dear Dark Lord Satan.”

The whole thing feigns to be light-hearted and comical, but Black finishes off on a more serious note by saying: “I ask you to grant tonight’s nominees with continued success in the music industry.”

Who is this “you” to whom Black prays, who can “grant” success to those in the music industry?

Certainly not God, for the audience then responded to Black’s entreaty by making their “devil horns” hand sign. They then held hands and prayed to Satan.

A video of Black’s prayer to Satan was available on YouTube, but according to Viacom has since been removed due to copyright violations.

“And then many will be led into sin; they will betray and hate one another.” Matthew 24:10

On September 19, 2009, 20-year-old Richard McCroskey III was arrested for bludgeoning to death four people in Farmville, Virginia. The four were McCroskey’s teenage girlfriend, Emma Niederbrock, her parents (father was a pastor; mother was a professor of criminal justice), and her best friend.

Using the alias “Syko Sam,” McCroskey was a fan and rapper of Horrorcore, a new genre of Satanic music. He and Emma became friends, then boy-girlfriends, over Horrorcore. McCroskey had flown to Virginia from his home in the San Francisco Bay Area to visit Emma and to attend a Horrorcore “music” festival in Michigan. They were accompanied on that trip by Emma’s parents and her best friend. How Emma’s pastor father and criminal justice professor mother neither saw nor heeded the evil in Horrorcore and McCroskey is something we’ll never know.

Here’s McCroskey’s rap “I Kill People For Real.” I could only watch/listen to a few seconds of this. It’s that disturbing.

May God help us! May God protect His people,

Democrat “Horse’s Ass” Winner Announced

30 09 2009

That’s right folks, Democrat Representative Alan Grayson is this year’s winner of the highly coveted (in the Dem party) “Horse’s Ass” Award!

I cut-up my GOP registration card a long time ago because I had, and still have, some major problems with the party. So, from time to time I will give them a hard time, but NEVER like this. This goes so far over the top that I would be shocked if I were to learn that Rep. Grayson’s constituents still support this Horse’s-Ass!

Democratic Lawmaker: Republicans Want Americans to ‘Die Quickly’

Rep. Alan Grayson made his comments on the House floor Tuesday night while criticizing Republican health care proposals. The first-term Democrat is known for being provocative.

Nothing less than a Horse’s Ass!

Lie For Healthcare Reform

30 09 2009

anumbers-721046As part of the healthcare debate, Obama and his leftist subjects, including politicians and the media, keep using a number, and a line of crap, as one of their selling points to force everyone to get on board with our inept government taking over healthcare. The quote I’m referring to goes something like this… “Some 40,000 people die each year because they have no health insurance”. How they know that this figure is anywhere near accurate is anyone’s guess. Considering how skeptical I am of anything that comes out of the Obama administration I’m guessing someone just made it up. What if I played Devils advocate for a moment and pretended that they meant to say… “Some 40,000 people die each year because they received no health care”, I would still like to know how they even came up with that figure.

I’m even going to help add confusion to this problem…  Back in 2001 there were an approximately 2,392,547 people who died in the USA. Sorry, but those were some of the best numbers I could find, so you have to use a little common sense. As the population of the USA increased every year since 2001, so did the number of people that died. Below is a chart of the common causes of death in the United States. Both the chart below and the 2,392,547 were figures taken from supposedly reliable sources, yet take the numbers from the chart and add them up, they don’t even come close to over 2 million deaths.

If you hear anyone use this argument you can now safely claim… they are full of sh”it”!

Yesterday, Sept. 29, 2009, at 6:48 AM local time, a magnitude 8.0 earthquake struck off the American Samoa islands.

At least 20 people were reported to have died. The wall of water from the resulting tsunami was as high as 30 feet. Entire villages had been wiped out in Samoa on the worst-hit south and southwest coasts in an area where thousands of people live. Thousands are left homeless on the island.

Today, Sept. 30, at 5:15 PM local time, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia, along the same fault line that spawned the massive 2004 tsunami that killed more than 230,000.

Chicagoans Don’t Want Olympics!

30 09 2009

Taxpayer Rally

Someone should tell Obama that America elected a president, not a Fuhrer.

By now, 8 months of Barry in the White House have amply demonstrated that this man is a dictator.

You don’t want ObamaCare? Ve vil stuff eet down ze throats!

Chicagoans don’t want to host the 2016 Summer Olympics? Ve vil stuff eet down ze throats!

First, news came last Sunday that a local Fox TV station was ordered by the Chicago Olympic Committee not to run an anti-Olympics story because it “would harm Chicago’s chances” to be selected as host of the 2016 summer games.

Anti-Olympic protesters at Chicago's Daley Plaza

Anti-Olympic protesters at Chicago's Daley Plaza

Yesterday, Sept. 29, six people were arrested “for criminal damage” at an anti-Olympic protest in Chicago’s Daley Plaza. Two witnesses claim police acted brutally. Olympic opponent and witness Magda Ramirez said the police “grabbed the young people, threw them on the ground and had them arrested.”

Members of No Games Chicago, the group that organized the rally, are headed to Copenhagen to tell the IOC that Chicago is in such financial straits it cannot afford the games and is such a hotbed of political corruption it doesn’t deserve them.

Then, I woke up this morning to news that Michelle Obama has arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark, followed soon by Obama himself on Air Force One — all in a last-ditch effort to convince the International Olympics Committee to select Chicago for 2016.

Michelle flew in a 757; Obama will fly in a 747; reportedly, there’s a third accompanying plane. Think of the jet fuel burnt for these trans Atlantic flights! Aren’t these the same people who worship on the altar of man-made global warming?

And shouldn’t Obama, Michelle, Oprah, and Chicago pols be more concerned with fixing the terrible rot that accounts for the evil in the hearts of the savages who beat 16-year-old honor student Derrion Albert to death in a gang war in the streets of Chicago last Thursday?

Sarah Palin At Large

29 09 2009

When I first started to see the headlines about Sarah and her co-writer earlier today, I wondered why the fuss. Until…… I saw the word “Christian” used in one particular headline from the Baltimore Sun. Check out the headline below. Now see if you can come up with a reason that whoever wrote the headline, thought it was imperative to tell the readers that Sarah’s co-author is more than just another co-author, she’s a “Christian co-author”?

And the Main Stream Media wonders why it’s audience shrinks daily.

Sarah Palin’s Christian co-author

apalinfishingBy now, you’ve probably heard the news. Sarah Palin – prolific Facebook user, Twitter poet, and former Alaskan governor – is writing a book. The title is “Going Rogue: An American Life,” and if early buzz is any indication, sales of the 400-page tome, which hits shelves in November, will be through the roof. Palin’s publishers are already preparing for boffo returns: more than 1.5 million copies of “Going Rogue” have reportedly been ordered.

Fair enough. November is holiday book-buying season, and Sarah Palin is a hot commodity. No reason to think Palin’s book won’t skyrocket to the top of the best-seller list. But let’s pause for a second: Did Palin really write “Going Rogue” all by herself? As MSNBC’s Chris Matthews noted back in May, “She’s got this book deal, she obviously is not gonna write it.”

Matthews was right. Palin had help.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that – unofficially, we’d estimate that 90 percent of the books published by politicians are heavily ghost-written. (A notable exception: Barack Obama, whose “Dreams from My Father” was considered by many critics to have real literary merit.) In Palin’s case, help came in the form of Lynn Vincent, a senior writer for the conservative Christian publication World Magazine.

And to judge by Vincent’s record, Palin’s choice was a sound one. Vincent has proven commercial success: “Same Different as Me,” a book which described the friendship between an art dealer and a homeless person, sold 560,000 copies, and logged 75 weeks on the best-seller list. That’s no small achievement at a time when the publishing industry is shrinking faster than an Alaskan summer.

Vincent’s politics also seem to align pretty well with Palin’s. In 2006, Vincent helped write a book called “Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party.” (”Donkey Cons” was co-written with Robert Stacy McCain.) The book’s tagline advertised a chronicle of “shameless bribery, illicit sex, [and] sweeping corruption.” Meanwhile, promotional copy posted to World Magazine’s Amazon page promised to reveal the following:

  • How Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and John F. Kennedy were elected with the help of the Mob.
  • What two eyewitnesses said about JFK’s obsession with hookers.
  • Why Democrats ignore crime victims and take the side of rapists, robbers, and cop-killers-then stump for the right of felons to vote!

A review of Vincent’s most recent stories in World reveals a strong focus on abortion, religion, and gay marriage.

That last sentence cracks me up. World is a Christian publication that just happens to write about subjects that Christians care about. Right off the top of my head I can come up with 3 subjects that Christians might be interested in discussing…. Abortion? Yep! Religion? Yep! Gay Marriage? Yep! Holy cow, would you look at that. Those are the same subjects that they mention above. What are the odds?

Another Obama Worship Video

29 09 2009

l_bf3220132c02879a7423f3e53e5df1f2Well, well, well, my neck of the woods finally gets famous for something. Too bad it had to be this…

Our local radio station talked about this video today, as did Rush on his show, and I learned about some minor details concerning the vid. Unlike what was reported, this video was made back in Jan 09′ NOT the 1st of Sept as was being advertised. Secondly, this program put on by the kids was for a PTO/PTA Meeting at the Sand Hills Elementary School. The program the kids put on was a 26 minute program that focused on past presidents, with this 55 seconds of Obama being the only part given to the public. The Radio Station tried to get the entire video, but for some strange reason the school put them off. Maybe we will get it tomorrow.

Of all the callers that complained about the video, there was one caller to the Radio program that made an excellent observation. She wondered aloud how prevelant this kind of indoctrination is in our schools across the country. I’m afraid she may not like the answer.

If any of you have kids, grandkids, nephews, etc in the public school system, please ask them about Obama being taught or pushed in school. If you hear of anything unusual, please come back here and report it.

The first video is the video in question. The second one is for fun!

Hey Obama, Listen-Up

29 09 2009

Obama… even Nato’s Secretary General agrees with General McChrystal, so either lead our boys to victory, or bring them home!

Nato urges new Afghan strategy

Nato’s new secretary general has acknowledged fading public support for the war in Afghanistan and called for a new approach.Speaking in Washington DC on Monday, Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the decline in support was marked by the perception that the coalition was “not getting anywhere”, adding that “things are going to have to change”.

But he said his call was not a “run for the exits” and that it was more urgent now to show there was “light at the end of the tunnel” by training Afghan forces so the Kabul government can gradually take responsibility for security.

“Sooner rather than later the transition must begin,” the former prime minister of Denmark said. “We need more resources for our training mission in Afghanistan, to develop the capacity of the Afghan security forces.”

European fatigue

Answering questions from an audience at the Atlantic Council, a public policy group, he added: “We should expand our training mission. I consider it easier for European countries to contribute to our training mission with personnel as well as with finances, than with combat troops.”

His comments came on the same day that European defence ministers, meeting informally in Sweden, expressed reluctance to send a significant number of reinforcements.

Soren Gade, the Danish defence minister, said “if you look at Europe, I don’t hear any voices saying we have an additional five or ten thousand soldiers to send to Afghanistan”.

Rasmussen, who took over Nato’s top job last month, said he agreed with the grim assessment of the war by the top US and Nato commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, but stopped short of calling for more troops himself.

“Basically I share the views presented by General McChrystal,” Rasmussen said when asked about a leaked report by the commander.

The general’s analysis recognises there is no military solution to the war and calls for a “more comprehensive approach” that seeks to safeguard the population, Rasmussen said.

But Rasmussen said he was not ready to comment on McChrystal’s request for tens of thousands of additional troops to reinforce efforts to counter Taliban fighters, saying it would be “premature”.

“Now we have to go through his initial assessment and analysis, discuss it within the alliance, agree on the approach and then we can make a decision on resources,” he said.

Pressing Kabul

The McChrystal assessment described daunting challenges in Afghanistan, with a government plagued by corruption and the Taliban extending its reach.

Rasmussen agreed that the Afghan government had to be held accountable by donors to fight corruption and deliver services to its people, calling for a new “compact” between outside governments and Kabul.

But McChrystal’s leaked assessment included withering criticism of Nato’s International Security Assistance Force, saying that troops often lacked basic understanding of Afghan society.

Rasmussen said he was aware of frustrations in Washington, including restrictions some Nato nations put on their forces and delays in Nato decision-making, but added that he was “already working hard to address those very real problems”.

But he criticised those in the US who belittle the contributions of allies, pointing to 9,000 additional non-US troops who have joined the Afghan fight in the past 18 months.

“The allies are not running from the fight, despite the conventional wisdom,” he said.

Such US criticism was counterproductive, unjustified and risked leaving allies “less inclined to make those efforts and those sacrifices” in the future, he added.

“Talking down the European and Canadian contributions – as some in the United States do on occasion – can become a self-fulfilling prophesy.”

The Netherlands and Canada have already set 2010 and 2011 withdrawal timelines but Rasmussen pledged that Nato “will stay for as long as it takes to succeed”.

“None of this will be quick and none of it will be easy,” he said. “We will need to have patience. We will need more resources. And, unfortunately, we will lose more young soldiers to the terrorist attacks of the Taliban.”

Rasmussen’s visit to Washington comes at a crucial juncture as the administration of Barack Obama, the US president, debates war strategy and a request from McChrystal for up to 40,000 additional troops.

Rasmussen held talks on Monday with Robert Gates, the US defence secretary, and was due to meet Obama on Tuesday.

Obama has said he will not decide on further reinforcements for Afghanistan until after a broad review of strategy.

The Pentagon said on Monday even if Obama approved additional deployments immediately, that would not happen until at least next year.

“There is a certain amount of train-up that is required to prepare … there is a certain amount of logistics in terms of moving equipment,” Bryan Whitman, a Pentagon spokesman, said.

$9.5 Million Tax-Dollars Wasted!

29 09 2009
$9.5 Million Dollars!

$9.5 Million Dollars!

I heard about this a couple of months ago and shook my head in amazement when I heard what it was going to cost. Back then I thought maybe they had just gotten some numbers mixed-up or maybe I was looking at a typo. This report today certifies that my fear was well founded. I’m not much of a computer geek, but I would venture a guess that I could have done the job for less than $250,000 dollars.

As the old saying goes…. A fool and his money are soon parted! It just so happens that it’s we tax payers that are the fools. Personally, this whole thing feels like a criminal enterprise to me.

Federal stimulus-monitoring website gets an update now allows searching by ZIP Code to look up projects in specific areas. Here’s where some of the money went: The $9.5-million overhaul was paid for with stimulus funds.

Reporting from Washington – Since February, when the government launched a website to provide a window on the federal stimulus package, critics have been calling for a makeover.

Now they have one.

The site, unveiled today by the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, was revamped through the use of $9.5 million in stimulus funds. It provides easier-to-use tools, such as a ZIP Code search that shows stimulus projects in specific communities. The government also has set up a toll-free hot line (1-877-FWA-DESK) for reporting fraud, waste and abuse.

“This is definitely a step in the right direction,” said Craig Jennings, a policy analyst at OMB Watch, a nonprofit government watchdog group.

Still, the Obama administration has a ways to go to complete transparency, Jennings said. The site,, does not include complete data on recipients of stimulus money, and users face significant hurdles to accessing the information that is available.

“It’s more of a nose job than a face lift,” Jennings said. “You need to put these data in a simple text format that people can download and use in Excel.”

Cheryl Arvidson, a spokeswoman for the recovery board, said that Web developers were working to create better downloadable features, but that it was hard to judge ease of use while much of the data has yet to be posted.

The government is set to release comprehensive data about recipient contracts on Oct. 15 and will post grant and loan information Oct. 30.

“This is a transformative website for the government, and we expect it to get better,” Arvidson said.

The board on Monday also unveiled an account on Twitter (RecoveryDotGov) and a YouTube video featuring Chairman Earl Devaney speaking directly to the public.

Gabriela Schneider — a spokeswoman for the Sunlight Foundation, a nonpartisan group that advocates political transparency — said that a revised map that contains more detailed information on agency spending is a “real positive move” but that more work remained.

“We’re hoping that this is not the final version and that they are open to a creative process going forward,” Schneider said.

Stabbing Friends In The Back

28 09 2009

a polishmapThe headline below pretty much says it all. I’m sure the Poles feel as if the USA has stabbed them in the back with Obama’s latest dumb-ass move. How long do you think it will be before Poland will ever trust us again? I say decades, maybe longer. I know some Poles personally and they are amazingly like Elephants, they have very long memories. I wish there was a way that “We the people” could tell the Polish people that we are ashamed of our president turning his back on them.

There seems to be a pattern that’s developing with this president. If you are fighting for freedom Obama is against you. If you are fighting for Marxist control over a free people, Obama is for you.

Poles indignant that U.S. altered missile-shield plans

The American decision to back out of a Bush-administration agreement has played into fears that Obama is willing to sacrifice Central Europe to repair relations with Russia.

Reporting from Warsaw – It hardly seems to matter anymore that Poles had long been leery of hosting U.S. missile interceptors aimed at defending against long-range threats from Iran. Now that Washington has backed out of the missile shield agreement forged by the Bush administration — and opposed by Russia — people here are reeling. Washington says it is changing plans in response to new intelligent assessments about Iran. But the Obama administration has undeniably been courting the Kremlin in hopes that Russia will ramp up pressure on Iran and North Korea, and cooperate with efforts to pacify Afghanistan. Just days after the U.S. scrapped its plans for interceptors in Poland, Moscow signaled a willingness to take a slightly tougher line with Tehran.

In Poland and among other members of the old Soviet bloc, the American announcement has played into a historic sense of uncertainty. Warsaw’s political elite spoke of a visceral fear that the Obama administration is willing to sacrifice Central Europe in its eagerness to repair badly damaged relations with a resurgent Russia.

The indignation is partly fueled by bruised feelings over what many here describe as bungled American diplomacy in breaking the news to Warsaw. But there is also concern over the perception that the United States overhauled its defense strategy in part to appease Moscow. The Kremlin loudly and lengthily opposed the Bush-era shield plan, viewing the presence of ground-based interceptors in Poland and radar in the Czech Republic as a strategic threat.

“It is time now for a mature look, stripped of illusions, at our possibilities and our future,” Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski told Rzeczpospolita newspaper last week “I think today we all know that if we are to look to somebody, we have to look to ourselves.”

The question of Russia’s role in helping drive U.S. policy is a touchy one in this part of the world, where the sense of being brushed aside as casualties in great power plays evokes memories of Cold War helplessness. It didn’t help that the news broke on a date laden with symbolism for Poles — the 70th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland.

Nor was it reassuring that Polish officials seemed to be the last to hear about the change in plans.

“We heard first from the media,” said Witold Waszczykowski, deputy head of Poland’s national security bureau. Speculation that the missile shield plan would be dropped had been in the air since the U.S. presidential campaign. And yet, Waszczykowski said, Polish leaders were repeatedly reassured — even days before a team of U.S. officials arrived to brief Polish officials — that no decision had been reached.

By the time U.S. officials were ready to discuss their decision, Prime Minister Donald Tusk was so furious he refused to take a midnight call from President Obama.

“Is it appeasement toward Russia? Is it pragmatism? Is it transactional?” Waszczykowski said. In a way, he said, it doesn’t matter. The perception that Russia has succeeded in shifting U.S. policy toward former bloc countries has dealt a damaging blow to Poland’s sense of security and pride.

“Russia still thinks we should have a different security status, that between Germany and Russia it’s a kind of buffer zone or twilight zone,” he said. “We’re not surprised by the Russian perception, but we’re surprised that this perception is accepted by Western powers.”

U.S. officials say they are bewildered at the Polish reaction, and argue that a missile shield hasn’t been abandoned, but will be altered to defend first against short- and medium-range missiles that require more cost-effective sea-based interceptors. Negotiations continue over the eventual deployment of Standard Missile-3 interceptors and a Patriot missile battery to Poland, they point out.

“It’s not appropriate for me, as American ambassador, to say the people I work for didn’t do something appropriately. And I’m not going to say that,” said Victor Ashe, the outgoing U.S. ambassador to Poland. “What happened happened.”

The former Republican mayor of Knoxville, Tenn., Ashe was a political appointee of the Bush administration.

“I acknowledge bumps in the road in terms of our relationship,” he said of Polish anger. Still, Ashe said many Poles were reacting before they fully understood the U.S. decision.

Beneath the angry headlines and crackling talk shows lurks the deeper question of how Poland should position itself at a time when the U.S. administration is reaching out to “reset” relations with Moscow.

Poles tend to regard Russia as a sort of dormant geopolitical volcano, a source of past hardship and the likely harbinger of another, eventual blow.

“People don’t understand. They say it’s a phobia, and it is a phobia, but it’s a phobia based on experience,” said Zbigniew Lewicki, head of American Studies at Warsaw University. “Nobody is worried that Russian soldiers will come marching now, but in 10 years, in 20 years? Russia wants to dominate the world as much as possible, and they have not given up on this part of the world. They still think it belongs to them.”

That brand of sentiment found a more sympathetic ear in Washington during the Bush years. It was then that then-president Vladimir V. Putin began to systematically shut down Russia’s fledgling democracy and speak nostalgically of the Soviet Union. The U.S. in turn enraged Moscow by encouraging pro-Western leaders in former Soviet states.

As neo-Cold War tensions flared, countries like Poland and the Baltic states relished the realization that they’d crossed to the other side of a fault line. They were members of the EU and NATO; dubbed the “new Europe” in neoconservative thought. Fear and loathing of Moscow found common cause with the more hawkish members of the Bush administration, who advocated a kind of quieter containment of resurgent Russian power.

But that order is gone now. The change began with the arrival of President Obama, who appears to take a less ideological and more pragmatic approach to international affairs than his predecessor — and who entered office when the U.S., saddled with strategic woes such as Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan, needed all the help it could get.

As Obama visited Moscow during summer and spoke warmly to Russians of rebuilding damaged relations, Poles waited to hear where they stood. In Warsaw, they pressed State Department officials for answers. “We were pushing: ‘It looks like you made a deal,'” Waszczykowski said. “They said, ‘No, it’s not the case.’ The message was, we have to wait.”

In truth, Polish public opinion has long been divided over whether hosting U.S. missiles — and provoking the wrath of Russia — was a good idea.

It wasn’t until Russia invaded Georgia in August 2008 that Poles embraced the idea of hosting missile interceptors. Even after the agreement was signed, the Polish parliament never got around to ratifying it.

In recent years, Poland has made some efforts to improve its own, notoriously chilly relations with Russia. Putin came to Poland this month to attend a commemoration of the start of World War II. His visit was seen as an important breakthrough for the two countries.

Lately, a few voices in Poland have been calling upon the government to engineer a “reset” of its own.

“We need Russian economy, Russian gas, Russian oil, Russian market,” said Stanislav Ciosek, a longtime Polish ambassador to Russia who now heads the Eastern Club, a trade group in Warsaw. “I have bad feelings toward Polish politicians who can’t release themselves from the fear of Russia. Polish national interest is that our neighbors to the east are happy with what they have and developed — so they don’t have to reach for ours.”

24 Blue Dogs For Public Option

28 09 2009

Ok people, time to start bugging the crap out of these spineless cretons.

1.   Jason Altmire: (35-53)

  • Signed HCAN principles
  • July 17:  Voted “no” as a member of the Health & Labor Committee against 3200 because of wealth surtax.
  • September 11:  “I – I’m speaking for myself, I think that the public option may, if it’s done correctly may be a part of the package and could play a role. As Congresswoman Woolsey described, it would have to airtight, completely self-sustaining, not funded through taxpayer subsidies, and have to meet all the same insurance regulations. So, I don’t think that is the sticking point for the Blue Dogs and the moderate members. I think what we are most concerned about is we have to do this in a fiscally responsible way.”
  • September 22:   “Altmire’s chief complaint about his own chamber’s bill was the inclusion of a surtax on the wealthy. But he said he didn’t expect that provision to make it through, and he signaled that excluding it would allow him to vote for the final bill.”

2.    Mike Arcuri: (53-38)

  • Signed HCAN principles
  • September 2 he said: “I personally think it is absolutely necessary that we have health care reform. The present system is unsustainable. And I happen to support a public option.”

3.   Joe Baca: (77-19)

  • Signed HCAN principles
  • July 8:  Signed letter to Steny Hoyer stressing the importance of having a strong public option, one that is tied to “an established provider network, like Medicare”

4.    Marion Berry: (48-42)

  • Signed HCAN principles

5.   Sanford Bishop:  (75-21)

  • Signed HCAN principles

6.   Leonard Boswell:  (52-38)

  • Signed HCAN principles
  • July 8:  Signed letter to Steny Hoyer stressing the importance of having a strong public option, one that is tied to “an established provider network, like Medicare.”
  • September 7:  “My sense, as I have traveled this district, that the support for a public option is up. … I think there’s a need for the public option. Will there be something else offered up that I don’t know about that might be usable? I don’t know. At this point, I don’t know what it would be.”
  • September 13:  Democratic U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell, a member of the conservative Blue Dog caucus, received praise from his colleagues for standing up in a Democratic caucus meeting to declare his support for a public health insurance option. Other Blue Dogs have been reluctant to sign on to that component of President Barack Obama’s proposal.

7.   Chris Carney:   (43-46)

  • Signed HCAN principles
  • August 25:  “A public option is something that may get us what we really want,”

8.  Henry Cuellar (53-40)

  • August 11:  “I support the public option plan. It does not mandate anything. It just gives you an option. There is still a role for the insurance industry. The public option is not going to take over,” said Cuellar.
He does not, however, support H.R. 3200 “as written.”

9.   Kathy Dahlkemper:  (53-38)

  • July 26:  I support reform that creates competition through a strong public option that lowers everyone’s costs and competes with private insurers
  • September 4:  “Dahlkemper told the audience she favors a public option, allowing a government insurance program to compete with private companies.”

10.  Gabby Giffords:  (43-46)

  • July 26:  “I support reform that creates competition through a strong public option that lowers everyone’s costs and competes with private insurers.”

11.  Bart Gordon:  (37-51)

  • August 1:  Voted “yes” on H.R. 3200 without reimbursement rates tied to Medicare as part of the Energy & Commerce Committee.

12.  Jane Harman:  (68-26)

  • Signed HCAN principles
  • July 8:  Signed letter to Steny Hoyer stressing the importance of having a strong public option, one that is tied to “an established provider network, like Medicare.”
  • July 10:  “I’m for a robust public option and I filled out my survey to say I was,” Harman told the Huffington Post.
  • August 1:  Voted “yes” on H.R. 3200 without reimbursement rates tied to Medicare as part of the Energy & Commerce Committee.
  • Told Mike Stark she would vote against any health care bill that does not have a robust public option (video).

13.  Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin:  (46-43)

  • Signed HCAN principles

14.  Baron Hill:  (52-39)

  • August 1:  Voted “yes” on H.R. 3200 without reimbursement rates tied to Medicare as part of the Energy & Commerce Committee.

15.  Tim Holden:  (43-46)

  • Signed HCAN principles

16.  Frank Kratovil:  (29-59)

  • Signed HCAN principles

17..  Mike Michaud:  (63-30)

  • July 8:  Signed letter to Steny Hoyer stressing the importance of having a strong public option, one that is tied to “an established provider network, like Medicare”
  • July 31:  “In my view, the House bill that we are ultimately asked to vote on must have a public option for me to support it.  I have strongly urged House leadership to work to keep it in the final package.  I am hopeful that it will be included, especially given that all three House committees have supported the idea of a public option.
  • September 24:  Democratic 2nd District Rep. Mike Michaud “strongly supports health care reform,” said Michaud spokesperson Ed Gilman. “He supports a public option. The question that remains to be answered is what the final bill will look like that we’re asked to vote on. And the congressman wants to see a final bill before he makes his final decision, obviously, because he wants to see how that bill would affect the state of Maine and Mainers in general.”

18.  Patrick Murphy:  (44-45)

  • July 9:  Rep. Patrick Murphy (Penn.) still backs a public plan without a trigger, said his spokeswoman Kate Hansen. “Congressman Murphy stands with President Obama in supporting the inclusion of a public option without a trigger in healthcare reform legislation, and believes it would be a good way to introduce transparency, competition, and cost-control into the insurance market,” she said.
  • July 10:  Per Ryan Grim,  supports a public option without a trigger and does not sign on to the July 8 Blue Dog “statement of principles.”
  • Told Mike Stark he supports a public option (video)

19.  John Salazar:  (49-21)

  • July 19:  “There is considerable talk about including some kind of public option to compete with the private plans. I think a public component may very well be necessary as part of any real health care reform.”
  • September 10:  “I will support a public option if that is included in the final bill before Congress.”

20.  Loretta Sanchez:  (68-26)

  • July 10:  “I am one of those people who believes that we should be required to have a public option because it will bring the costs of health care down.”
  • Signed HCAN principles

21.  Adam Schiff:  (72-23)

  • Signed HCAN principles
  • July 8:  Signed letter to Steny Hoyer stressing the importance of having a strong public option, one that is tied to “an established provider network, like Medicare”
  • From his website:  “Rep. Schiff believes that a public program option should be made available to all, providing a greater choice to families and much needed competition with private insurers.
The new public health insurance option’s ability to negotiate for lower prices could provide great incentive for private insurers to lower their administrative spending and use more healthcare dollars to provide actual healthcare. Projected numbers peg healthcare cost savings from the advent of a public option by about $2 trillion over eleven years.”

22.  Zack Space:  (49-41)

  • August 1:  Voted “yes” on H.R. 3200 without reimbursement rates tied to Medicare as part of the Energy & Commerce Committee.
  • Signed HCAN principles

23.  Mike Thompson:  (75-20)

  • Signed HCAN principles
  • Jul7 17:  Voted “yes” on H.R. 3200 with reimbursement rates tied to Medicare as part of the Ways & Means Committee.
  • September 3:  “Another key factor in suppressing costs, Thompson said, is introducing a public option to compete with private insurance companies, which will drive costs down. Thompson said plainly that he supports the public option, and that he doesn’t imagine it is possible that any bill will pass the House without one.”

24.  Charlie Wilson:  (57-35)

  • Signed HCAN principles

Obama Loves Dictators

28 09 2009
In my younger (foolish) days I had a couple of occasions where I woke-up in very strange places wondering to myself “where the hell am I” ? Fortunately, I grew up and got a handle on my drinking problem.

Strangely enough, I feel like that almost everyday now, and it’s not from drinking. What has me shaking my head in wonderment this time is the world that we now live in. I could easily make a list of things that are happening now that give me the chills, but for this post I want to mention one subject that I have been reading about but never commenting on until tonight…. “Democracies”!

HondurasMapA quick review… We have a leader that was democratically elected in Honduras. Just prior to his last term is up, he makes a move very similar to what Chavez has done in Venezuela and tries to change their democratic constitution so he can appoint himself leader for life. Because if his intended violation of his own countries constitution, he is ejected from power according to his countries constitution. Now, every left loving leader in the world and in the United Nations, including our very own Obama, wants the constitution of Honduras to be ignored and a potential dictator for life put back in to power.

So can somebody please tell me what “F-ing” planet I woke up on? I’m serious. Is this the year of the ‘Marxist Dictators’ on the Chinese or Mayan Calendar? If Obama actually believed in our democratic system he should be the one screaming the loudest about what a bad person Zalaya is, and should be offering our full support to the Honduran people. Instead, he sides with the United Nations in condemming the legal actions of a fledgling democracy. If you ever had any doubts, the position that Obama is taking on this one issue should tell you that Obama wants to destroy the United States that we love so much!

UN official: Honduras takes ‘seriously bad turn’

(AP) – 1 hour ago

UNITED NATIONS — An attack by police and soldiers on the Brazilian embassy in Honduras, where that country’s deposed president is holed up, “would be a disaster,” a senior U.N. official said Monday.

Undersecretary-General for Political Affairs B. Lynn Pascoe said the situation in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa, “took a seriously bad turn with the threats on the Brazilian embassy,” where President Manuel Zelaya has sought shelter since sneaking back into his homeland last week.

“This of course is a very serious problem for all of us,” Pascoe said. “It would be a disaster if any action were taken to violate international law on the inviolability of the embassies.”

In Honduras Monday, the head of the coup-installed government, Roberto Micheletti, repeated a pledge not to attack the Brazilian Embassy and sent “a big hug” to Brazil’s president, a day after giving him a 10-day ultimatum to expel Zelaya or move him to Brazil.

Last week, the U.N. Security Council held a briefing and closed-door consultations after Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim raised concerns Honduran authorities could move against the embassy to capture Zelaya.

In a statement, the council “condemned acts of intimidation” against the embassy, and said that “respect and protection of the inviolability of diplomatic premises is a universally accepted principle of international relations.”

The government that seized power in the military coup, sending Zelaya into forced exile on June 28, has suspended civil liberties, silenced opposition broadcasters and sent police and soldiers into the streets to face off with protesters.

Would Obama Lie?

28 09 2009

I want you to take a look at a recent video posted at Glenn Once you go to the link below, look for the “The Otto Story”, then click on that video. At exactly 1:00 minute into the video start paying very close attention.

Now that you have done all that, let me ask you again… “Would Obama Lie?”

Racism, Muslims, Government

28 09 2009

Cecil Moon is the lead writer for the blog he and his wife publish together at He had notified me earlier via email about the subject of one of his Monday morning rants and considering how much I love rants (I really do), I went to his blog and read what he had alluded to.

amuslim prayerIn case some of you may have forgotten, Cecil is the patriotic brave soul that made his way from the Ozarks of MO, to Washington D.C. by himself, to attend the 9/12 march on D.C.  I had hoped to go to D.C. and meet-up with Cecil, but as fate would have it, personal reasons kept me from doing so (man was I jealous!). I plan on doing a follow-up on his trip near the end of this week so please check back often. His story is stirring, and it will have more impact now that everyone else has had their say about that incredible weekend.

In the meantime, enjoy some of his thoughts from

Racism Explained to Morons

By all accounts from the left, your host at Zion Beckons is a racist. By their definition, if one decries a socialist/Marxist takeover of the government—you are a racist. By their definition if you oppose the dismantling of the Bill of Rights—you are a racist. In their warped minds if you seek to protect the federal treasury from the robbers on the left—you are a racist. If you are willing to fight for “Old Glory,” its tradition and all it represents—you are a racist. If you disapprove of the underhanded tactics used by ACORN and the NEA—you are a racist. If you disavow any respect for acknowledged criminals in high seats of government—you are a racist. If you are unwilling to “go along to get along”—you are a racist.

This does little to encourage freedom loving, noble people of color, to engage in politics for the enhancement of American values and traditions. Branding resistance to the vile policies of the new administration as racism is not only ignorant but also shames the sacrifice of thousands of Americans of all colors who fought tirelessly to achieve racial parity in our country throughout our history. We are clearly identified in the Pledge of Allegiance as “one people, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” To hurl racist epithets at those who themselves fought this battle and whose ancestors struggled to achieve those ends is unconscionable. It is also par for the course for those who currently occupy the seats of power in Washington, D.C.

If we are indeed a racist society; how come we don’t see endless protests from Chinese, Koreans, Hmongs, Japanese, Pacific Islanders, and the perpetual parade of Europeans and Africans who have sought refuge on these golden shores over the decades? What treasure do they see in American citizenship which transcends their individual racial loyalties? What other country has been peopled by so many varieties of immigrants seeking freedom, prosperity and the right to worship as they please? The short answer is—none.

Our current accusations of the racism of our people are not so much a cry for freedom as an industry for those who would take unfair advantage of our sensitivities. The race-baiters are in truth the self-aggrandizing, opportunistic, America haters who would seek to destroy the greatest country in the world by the tactics of division among its people. They would supplant our sacred founding documents, which emphasize the will of the individual, with a collective ukase to enable a governmental system which disrespects every principle which informed Americans hold dear.

This insane desire to inflict uncivil rights on our people is a travesty which the administration has taken few steps to disavow. The left portrays Obama as an object of racism but rarely identifies his actual racial component. In fact, his lineage is 50% white Irish, 43.75% Arab, and 6.25% black African. This is hardly the picture painted by the media and his supporters. Perhaps they could verify the mix by checking his birth certificate—oh, I forgot, he doesn’t have one. What a farce!

CAIR comes to D.C.

(Gio notes: Muslim prayer rally on Capitol Hill on Friday, September 25th. Not once did any of the speakers at this rally denounce radical Muslim Terrorism.)

We may now observe the reward offered to those who have sworn to destroy our country and have taken nearly 3,000 in the process on 9/11/01. Even after countless attempts to duplicate that atrocity, and some successful outrages here and world wide, our government has taken a “forgive and forget” attitude and invited the “spiritual” faction to the mall for a prayer meeting. In a city full of those who would remove all vestiges of Christianity and Judaism from any and all public view, we find those who have discovered tolerance for anything Muslim in full hypocritical mode.

Their very presence insults every principle which Americans hold dear. Forgiveness is an established necessity for salvation but it must also be followed immediately by repentance. This often overlooked component is an absolute requirement. Shame on a government which does not understand these fundamental needs.
