These arguments get so old that I wonder if we even get through to anyone. But then… we get news that for the first time since Roe v Wade that the majority of Americans are against abortion. So now we have no choice but to keep trying to save innocent lives.

This is one job I really enjoy!

Coming from a solid Catholic background it seems as if you would be all for leaving gay sex OUT of the class room!?

OK. We can stop. Honestly, I was not trying to change anybody’s mind. I just was trying to help everyone see the very real danger that occurs when women are forced to seek illegal and unsafe abortions. Overturning Roe v. Wade will not end abortions, it will end SAFE abortions.

Eowyn: I wasn’t telling you what you think. I guessed what you think. Different. You are not a utopian and I never called you one. I think the word is unrealistic. Also, didn’t go to public school so you can’t blame how I turned out on the “dumbing down” of public school education, as you so eloquently put it. I went to a private religious preschool, junior, and high school and was raised AND confirmed into the catholic church. Sorry to shatter that one for you. I am currently a medical student and maybe I will be your doctor one day and you won’t even know it!

1) Concern for/responsibility to other individuals (74%)
2) Cannot afford a baby now (73%)
3) A baby would interfere with school/employment/ability to care for dependents (69%)

The study allowed women to choose more than one option (hence the % greater than 100) Surprisingly, shame isn’t mentioned (although you “cite” it as the #1 reason.

But, I actually think that the class is a good idea. Ultrasounds in the classroom would be pretty cool! More aspiring future doctors, the better. Proper use of contraceptives should be demonstrated however (parents could leave the room?). Improper use of contraception is a huge problem and reason for unwanted pregnancies. STIs should be covered in the class as well. It is another enormous problem that is easily prevented and biology class has a lot to cover already. They can’t be expected to add STIs on top of teaching evolution. What is the harm of teaching about gay sex? Why not teach it for completeness’ sake?
