When do we get to see this bill presented by Harry Reid?

Gio-

Grassfire.net

Reid is moving to cut off debate on ObamaCare as soon as
this Friday and we still haven’t seen the bill! I believe a
grand deception is under way. See below.

Dear Patriots:

Yesterday’s meeting between President Obama and the 60-member
democratic caucus means we’ve reached the end game on the
Senate ObamaCare vote.

But the meeting and Obama’s claim that we are “on the precipice”
to passage are all part of a grand deception scheme that,
sadly, is on the verge of succeeding.

First… The legislative text of the new Reid bill HAS NOT
BEEN RELEASED. There is NO BILL for your Senators to actually
see and read, and NO BILL for you to see and read!

THE REAL WORK AND THE REAL DEALS ARE TAKING PLACE BEHIND CLOSED DOORS!

Second, what’s really happening amounts to pure bribery.

With YOUR MONEY, Reid and Obama are trying to buy
the votes of swing senators to the tune of hundreds of
millions of dollars. Reports indicate that Sen. Ben Nelson
may have been offered $500 million in earmarks for his
state in appreciation of his support of ObamaCare.

Also, we’re told that in Reid’s latest plan, the “public option”
has been removed. But has it? (I guess we’re supposed to take
Reid on his word that the not-yet-seen 2,000+ page bill does
not include a public option!) And does it matter…

With or without a formal “public option,” ObamaCare
means government-run health care. ObamaCare still is
based on the unconstitutional “individual mandate,”
includes massive tax increases, imposes an oppressive new
government bureaucracy and puts the government in
    charge of your health care.

Action: Let Your Senators Know What YOU Think!

I want to encourage you to use every means at your disposal to
let your Senators and other key Senators know what you think
about ObamaCare. Some resources for you:

Action #1: Fax Your Senators Now

Use our FaxFire system to get your faxes to your two Senators
and other key Senators right now. Go Here Now

Or… send your own faxes. We have provided all the information
you need. Go here

Action #2: Call your two Senators

Talking Points:

Tell them you live in their state

Tell your Senators you want to actually see the bill and that
you are outraged that Senate leaders are forcing their secret
  bill to a final vote.

Tell them you oppose ObamaCare and urge them to vote “NO” on
  cloture and the final bill.

Tell them you oppose the unconstitutional “individual mandate”
and the oppressive taxes in the plan.

The Ruling Elite

16 12 2009

H/T goes out to Frances W. for passing along these words of wisdom from Charlie Reese.

The truth can come in many forms, and truth is always stranger than fiction, but this particular truth is surprising only in its simplicity. You and I know where the trouble starts, but we never put it as succinctly as Mr. Reese has.

545  PEOPLE

By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world  who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever  wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if  all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have  inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget.  The president does.

You and I don’t have the  Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of  Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress  does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You  and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve  Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one  president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human  beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally,  and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague  this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve  Board because that problem was created by the  Congress.  In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty  to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central  bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a  sound reason.. They have no legal authority.  They have no  ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one  cotton-picking thing.  I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash.  The  politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what  the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility  to determine  how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy  convincing you that what they did is not their fault.   They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What  separates a politician from a normal human being is an  excessive amount of gall.  No normal  human being would have the gall of a  Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating  deficits..  The president can only propose a budget.   He cannot force the Congress to accept  it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the  land, gives sole responsibility to the House of  Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.  Who is the speaker of the House?   Nancy Pelosi.  She is  the leader of the majority party.  She and  fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want.  If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if  they agree  to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can  not replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of  incompetence and irresponsibility.  I can’t think of a  single domestic problem  that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.  When you fully  grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal  government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to  exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it  unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in  the red …

If the Army &Marines are in  IRAQ ,  it’s because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not  receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available  to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no  insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift  the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can  abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to  regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can  take this power.  Above all, do not let them con you into  the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the  economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing  what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they  alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the  power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the  people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the  gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of  them out of office and clean up their mess!

UN Climate Change Whopper

16 12 2009

UN climate change says "The glaciers are melting!"

For a body that means to rule supreme over the governments and peoples of the world in the name of Climate Change, you’d think the United Nation’s Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) would at least try and get its year and date right about an alleged impending disaster of earth-shaking proportions.

The IPCC had issued a dire warning that, in a mere 20 years, the Himalayan glaciers could melt to a fifth of current level by the year 2035.

The Himalayas hold the planet’s largest body of ice outside the polar caps — an estimated 12,000 cubic kilometres of water. Melted ice from the Himalayas feed many of the world’s great rivers — the Ganges, the Indus, the Brahmaputra — on which hundreds of millions of people depend. But the IPCC claims that ”Glaciers in the Himalayas are receding faster than in any other part of the world and, if the present rate continues, the likelihood of them disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high if the Earth keeps warming at the current rate.” That would be disastrous for three quarters of a billion people in Asia who now depend on glacier melt for their water supplies.

The only problem is that the BBC reports on Dec 5, 2009, that the IPCC’s dire prediction is “wildly inaccurate.” J Graham Cogley, a professor at Ontario Trent University, says the IPCC got the date from an earlier report wrong by more than 300 years, “misreading 2350 as 2035“!

What a collection of bozos….

Sen. Landrieu vs Howard Dean

16 12 2009

A friend called me a few minutes ago and said to quickly put on Chris Matthews’ Hardball. After I cleared the bile from my throat I turned to MSNBC.

Chris Matthews was in a nice little argument with Howard Dean over the Obamacare bill when he suddenly announced that Democrat Senator Mary Landrieu was joining the discussion from the Capitol. She immediately jumped on Dean because he wants the bill in the Senate killed. She then went on about all the good things that is still left in the bill and did her obligatory 60 second spin on Obamacare. One of the things that made me sit up from my couch and say “what the hell?” is when she made a comment that if the bill passes with public option stripped from it, that for once in our history Medicare would be FREE to everyone. HUH????

Can anyone that reads this blog please explain this to me? This is the first time I have ever heard anyone say that about this bill, so I’m more than just a little curious.

Free the SEALs!

16 12 2009

Human Events has organized a petition for us to sign, asking that Secretary of Defense Robert Gates release the three Navy SEALs who are unjustly charged with having “abused” a terrorist they captured in a daring raid this September. The terrorist claims he was “struck in the stomach.” This is what the petition says:

Hon. Robert M. Gates
Secretary of Defense
The Pentagon
Washington, DC

Dear Secretary Gates:

We, the editors and staff of HUMAN EVENTS, and the many Americans who have attached their signatures to this petition, hereby request your personal intervention to dismiss the charges against Navy SEAL operators SO2 Jonathan Keefe, SO1 Julio Huertas and SO2 Matthew McCabe.

These three men are charged with abusing a terrorist they captured in a daring nighttime raid on or about 1 September 2009. On that night, they — as part of a platoon from SEAL Team 10 — captured and detained Ahmed Hashim Abed, one of the most barbaric and dangerous terrorists in Iraq. The terrorist — in a move that is literally right out of the al-Queda training manual — complained of abuse, apparently alleging he was struck in the stomach.

We had hoped that the SEALs’ commanders would dispose of this matter at the lowest level — with a scolding and perhaps a few hundred pushups — for anyone actually guilty of inflicting an inconvenience on this bloody-handed barbarian. But on 29 September 2009, Gen. David H. Petraeus signed a letter authorizing MGen. Charles T. Cleveland to dispose of the allegations of misconduct. In that letter, Gen. Petraeus said that MGen. Cleveland could, “…dispose of these matters in any manner you deem appropriate. This includes the authority to convene courts-martial at any level up to and including General Courts-Martial and to refer charges concerning these individuals to any court-martial.”

The three now face special courts-martial next month. We believe their commanders — including General Petraeus — have failed you, the SEALs and the American people by not preventing the matter from going this far.

You are the person next in line above General Petraeus in the chain of command. You can, legally under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, intervene to dismiss the charges against the three SEALs and direct that they be restored to duty.

We respectfully request that you do so forthwith. For this matter to continue — and to place the honor and fighting future of these three men at stake — is manifestly a gross injustice.

 Respectfully submitted,

[Your name here]

I just signed the petition, and the current signature count is 56,174. To sign the petition, go HERE.

A Soldiers Christmas

16 12 2009

Gotta thank Tom in NC for passing this along!

Gio-

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn’t loud, and it wasn’t too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn’t quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

“What are you doing?” I asked without fear,
”Come in this moment, it’s freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!”
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts…

To the window that danced with a warm fire’s light
Then he sighed and he said, “Its really all right,
I’m out here by choice. I’m here every night.
”It’s my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I’m proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ‘ Pearl on a day in December,”
Then he sighed, “That’s a Christmas ‘Gram always remembers.”
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ‘ Nam ‘,
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I’ve not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he’s sure got her smile.”
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue… an American flag.
“I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall.”

“So go back inside,” he said, “harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I’ll be all right.”
”But isn’t there something I can do, at the least,
”Give you money,” I asked, “or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you’ve done,
For being away from your wife and your son.”

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
”Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we’re gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us.”

PLEASE, would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many
people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our
U.S service men and women for our being able to celebrate these
festivities. Let’s try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people
stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.

International Picture of the Year
Here are two very touching photos honored this year

First Place :

First Place
Todd Heisler The Rocky Mountain News

When 2nd Lt. James Cathey’s body arrived at the Reno Airport , Marines climbed into the cargo hold of the plane and draped the flag over his casket as passengers watched the family gather on the tarmac.

During the arrival of another Marine’s casket last year at Denver International Airport , Major Steve Beck described the scene as so powerful: ‘See the people in the windows? They sat right there in the plane, watching those Marines. You gotta wonder what’s going through their minds, knowing that they’re on the plane that brought him home,’ he said ‘They will remember being on that plane for the rest of their lives. They’re going to remember bringing that Marine home. And they should.’

Second Place

Second Place
Todd Heisler The Rocky Mountain News

The night before the burial of her husband’s body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of ‘Cat,’ and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. ‘I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it,’ she said. ‘I think that’s what he would have wanted’

WILL YOU WEAR BLUE THIS FRIDAY?

Blue Fridays.

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing blue every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the ‘silent majority’ We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday — and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something blue. By word of mouth, press, TV — let’s make the United States on every Friday a sea of blue much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in BLUE and it will let our troops know the once ‘silent’ majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on. The first thing a soldier says when asked ‘What can we do to make things better for you?’ is .’We need your support and your prayers.’ Let’s get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something blue every Friday.

H/t my friend Judith!

Call to Prayer

16 12 2009

Our Lord Jesus Christ has promised us this:

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. [Matthew 7:7-11, 21:22]

I believe in the power of prayer — if we ask God with a contrite heart and utmost humility.

So, please take a couple of minutes, kneel down and pray that God pours His mercy and grace upon America, even though we don’t deserve it.

Amnesty Bill Alert!

16 12 2009

I received this e-mail alert from my 9-12 group:

With over 15 million Americans out of work, one might think Congress would focus on this issue. Instead, yesterday (Dec 15) Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) introduced his “comprehensive” immigration reform bill.

Gutierrez previously outlined the components of his amnesty bill — granting legal status to illegal aliens, increasing the number of immigrant visas, and reducing wait times for family members of previously admitted immigrants to gain U.S. residency.

Gutierrez said he was introducing the bill before the holiday recess so “there is no excuse for inaction in the New Year.” Apparently, the Congressman’s Christmas gift to unemployed Americans is the permanent disappearance of their jobs.

Follow-up: Climate Change = World Govt

15 12 2009

Transformational - Barack Obama 2012 - Comrade

H/T to Jess for two excellent articles about Obama and his goals concerning a Copenhagen treaty, and Obama’s Commie Colors.

Both articles from the American Thinker.

Gio-

The Surprise at Copenhagen

It is only logical that President Obama will sign any Copenhagen climate change treaty that may result from this week’s negotiations. His worldview demands it. His past statements and ongoing actions presage it.

Obama believes in AGW (anthropogenic or man-made global warming) theory. He believes in “economic and social justice,” and that logically leads to “climate justice.” He may believe that the U.S. owes a “climate debt” to the rest of the world. What better way to lead the charge than to carry the ultimate banner of the radical left — wealth redistribution — under the auspices of the “crises of climate change.” AGW even has victims: “climate refugees.”

Many doubt Obama’s ability to legally commit to a binding treaty and obligate the United States. The possibility, however, prompted Senator Webb to issue a letter to President Obama reminding him not to sign any treaty in Copenhagen. The letter cautioned him to make no make commitments that will not pass the Article II treaty ratification framework under the Constitution requiring a supermajority vote (67 votes) in the Senate. I submit that this thinking is flawed, and Obama has no intent of taking that path.

The president has obligations under U.S. law to “enforce” regulations and “follow the law.” This is the the foundation he would use to sign the treaty in Copenhagen. In 1996 the Supreme Court ruled that the EPA must regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases as pollutants. (Massachusetts et al. v. EPA et al.).The EPA, stalled by the Bush administration, slowly moved through various required hoops to substantiate that CO2 is in fact a “greenhouse gas” and amongst several others is causing global warming. Once President Obama took office, the EPA was unleashed. On April 17, 2009, the EPA declared CO2 and five other “greenhouse gases” a potential danger. According to their own findings, they relied heavily on the now-suspect IPCC data, much of which is tainted by the “Climategate” files.

This allowed for the Dec. 7, 2009 EPA “Endangerment” notification that CO2 is one of the “dangerous” greenhouse gases to be regulated through the Clean Air Act. The notification declared CO2 to a pollutant, which is pretty stunning all by itself. Setting aside all the arguments for and against anthropogenic global warming (the science is far from settled), we now have a new beast on our hands.

This simple EPA declaration triggered new regulations under the auspices of the Clean Air Act and put the agency in the driver’s seat of our carbon-based economy. To have this group of closet radicals at the wheel of our economic engine is scary enough, but it doesn’t stop there. Obama will also use the following:

The Clean Water Act
With CO2 now considered a pollutant, atmospheric CO2 pollution and water quality become closely linked. Now here comes the Clean Water Restoration Act (CWRA), steaming full ahead out of the blue. The proposed Senate version looks deceptively like a minor change. In U.S. Supreme Court cases, federal regulatory authority currently extends only to waters that are navigable or perhaps directly connected to navigable waters. The Senate bill would remove the word “navigable.” The significance of the dropped word is that any backyard fishpond or birdbath, any swimming pool, or even a piece of low ground that is prone to forming puddles after rains could be subject to new regulations from the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers.

The Endangered Species Act
Climate change theoretically threatens not only human welfare but also the very existence of numerous other species. If you think the spotted owl or a minnow in California is in danger…look out.

The National Environmental Policy Act
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) seeks to promote “efforts which will prevent or eliminate damage to the environment and biosphere.” The NEPA requires the preparation of a “detailed statement” — commonly known as an Environmental Impact Statement, or EIS — for proposed legislation and “other major Federal actions significantly affecting the quality of the human environment.” Although the courts have interpreted NEPA as predominantly a procedural and informational statute, it nonetheless provides the public and federal decision-makers with important information about the environmental impacts of federal actions, as well as possible alternatives and mitigation measures that could help alleviate those impacts. U.S. courts have squarely held that NEPA requires federal agencies to analyze climate change impacts.

President Obama already has the power to sign a Copenhagen treaty. Most people think of international agreements as treaties. The Constitution under Article II authorizes the president to “make Treaties” with the “Advice and Consent” of the Senate, provided that “two thirds of the Senators present concur.” Getting 67 votes in the Senate is a non-starter.

There is another path…and Obama doesn’t need any new powers to forge ahead. A “congressional-executive” or “legislative-executive” agreement is made by the president under authority granted by existing statute. This merely requires the approval of a majority in both houses of Congress, rather than a supermajority in the Senate.

Congressional approval can be given either ahead of time, in the form of express authority, or after the fact, in the form of approval of such agreements by majorities in both houses. The chance of a majority vote passing is much more likely than a supermajority vote. These agreements, not treaties, have been used to approve many well-known and binding international arrangements, like the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Obama administration is not bluffing about the “command and control” powers of EPA regulation versus the “market-based” powers of the stalled cap-and-trade bill. They do not wish to extort the passage of legislation with the threat of EPA action. The new international commitments will be based on existing U.S. laws and regulations, and the treaty commitments will then be used to reinforce those same laws and regulations — even providing the pretext for the urgent need for new ones to enforce the treaty obligations.

Anyone no longer believing Obama’s campaign language of “fundamentally changing the United States” underestimates this man. This is a massive power grab of historical and possibly unconstitutional breadth at a breakneck pace. Card check, health care reform, TARP fund misallocations, the stimulus bill pork-barrel spending, cash for clunkers, the $3.4 billion settlement with the Indian tribes, the financial reform bill, additions to the federal work force amidst the hemorrhaging of jobs in the private sector, and now this…we had better wake up and smell what this team is shoveling. And fast.

Obama the Red Avenger

Barack Obama Marx

The French called Hitler a revanchiste — a Kaiser soldier of World War I aching to avenge his old defeat. Hitler made no secret of his desire for revenge. He made it a Nazi slogan. Well, you can have ideological revanchisme as well — for instance, a Marxist determination to take revenge for America’s victory against worldwide Communism in the Cold War.

The word “Marxist” is now used as a kind of a sly boast in academia; I just talked with a professor who calls himself a “Marxist historian” and smiles to himself when he says it. He obviously thinks he’s a hero by being a Marxist in America. But according to Marxist historians themselves,

in “crimes, terror and repression,” with still more dying today in North Korea. That’s not even counting the dead and wounded in wars fought by Communist regimes.Obama’s early life indicates that young Barry may have been brought up as a Red Avenger against America. We know that he talks like an anti-capitalist and an anti-Constitutionalist, and that he compulsively apologizes for American actions during the Cold War. The Cold War was not something we started — it was started by Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and other totalitarian mass murderers long before the Korean War and the Vietnam War, our two hot proxies in the Cold War.
What we haven’t understood is how deeply Obama was indoctrinated from childhood onward in the war against America. But every intelligence agency in the world has to have figured it out, because it’s all in the public record. Leftists around the world have also known it from day one, and that includes leading Democrats. Obama was not an unknown to Democrat Party apparatchiks. Or the media. Only the American people were kept in the dark. The media and the Democrats are still doing their Obama cover-up today and hoping they will get away with it.

Why is Obama so deeply, emotionally opposed to America’s defense of freedom and democracy in the Cold War? Because

Barry Soetoro was born in 1961 and lived in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta from age six to ten, the years 1967-1971 — right after the bloodiest civil war in Indonesian history, which took place from 1965 to 1967. The Indonesian Communist Party, the PKI, was wiped out and massacred during that civil war. There is absolutely no way a left-wing family living in Jakarta could not have been in a constant uproar during those years, even after the massacres had died down. After all, Barry’s parents were active sympathizers

, if not party members themselves, as was his biological fatherIndonesia was host to millions of ethnic Chinese, some of whom were slaughtered in the “communal violence” which followed a failed coup. China was then in the middle of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, which killed from

50 to 70 million people.

Ann Dunham, Lolo Soetoro and Barry Soetoro were living in the very midst of the hottest front line between the West and totalitarian Communism. Indonesia’s dictator General Sukarno was overthrown in 1965 by either the Communist Party (the PKI) or the Indonesian army and Islamic parties — and probably by all three. The PKI was the third biggest Communist Party in the world outside of the Soviet Union and Communist China. (

See The Year of Living Dangerously.) PKI members were killed in the resulting riots and massacres throughout 1965 and 1966, starting in Jakarta, where Barry Soetoro’s family lived. Imaging living in Atlanta, Ga., right after General Sherman finished marchin’ through Georgia

, and not knowing anything about it. There is simply no way those earth-shattering events could not have touched Barry Soetoro’s life in Jakarta from the age of six to ten. Barry’s temporary dad

Lolo Soetoro

was originally a supporter of General Sukarno and the Left; Sukarno’s party had sent Lolo to Hawaii to get a graduate degree, where he met Ann Dunham. There is no real safety in such conditions. Revenge killings happened after World War II in Europe and after the Civil War in the United States. The big question is, Why did Ann Dunham risk bringing her young child to Jakarta? She must either have been utterly naïve politically, or, much more likely, she knew that she and Lolo were protected by powerful political forces.

Ann Dunham was at least an active

fellow traveler with the Communist Party. Remember, this was just fifteen years after the death of Stalin and the American domestic reaction to Stalinist infiltration, now dubbed “McCarthyism.” We now know with historical certainty that the U.S. government, including the State Department and the White house, was in fact infiltrated by Stalin’s Communist Party members, and that secrets of U.S. nuclear bombs were instantly passed to the Soviet Union by Manhattan Project member Klaus Fuchs, who was honored by the East Germany Communist Party when he went back there. Stalinist Communists were also very powerful in Hollywood,

the newspapers, and the universities. Barry’s childhood and education under the guardianship of

Communist Party representative Frank Marshall Davis, followed by an endless parade of far Leftist mentors from Hawaii to Harvard and Chicago, were all shaped by an identical political narrative. Every adult he ever knew told the same story. Everybody hated the same satanic enemy: American capitalism — also known as freedom and democracy — the CIA, the U.S. military, Senator Joe McCarthy, President Eisenhower, and Richard Nixon. We now know that Nixon was overthrown by the American Left using the Watergate scandal, including the Washington Post’s Ben Bradlee, in close coordination with the FBI’s Assistant Director Mark Felt

, who was Woodward and Bernstein’s Deep Throat. The Jesuits used to say, “Give us a boy before he is ten and we will have him for life.” That’s why the Ranting Reverend Wright’s Church of Marxism was such a natural place for the Obamas to go every Sunday and bring up their own girls. It’s what they were used to; it had that old home feeling.

When kids believe that their mothers and fathers are in danger, they often imagine themselves to be the saviors — they can get a

Savior Complex

. (Sound familiar?) Children in abusive families often feel that way. Barry Soetoro grew up needing to rescue his side in the Cold War — the Red side.Human beings who think they are world saviors are narcissists from day one because they believe they have God-like powers. How else can you Save the Planet? How else can you “keep the seas from rising,” as Obama said in his acceptance speech to the Democrats?

Narcissism is a standard character trait on the Left. It’s one of the basic differences between ideological Leftists and conservatives. Edmund Burke

, the granddaddy of Anglo-American conservatism, pointed that out in his most important book, Reflections on the Revolution in France (1791). Conservatives are generally normal people. Ideological Leftists are ambitious World Saviors who turn out to kill a lot of people who resisted being saved by coercive force. Can you think of any American conservative who acts like Obama?Take a kid with a savior complex and raise him with an endless slew of Leftist mentors, from Mom onwards. He is the savior child as far as they are concerned — the Red Avenger. He will redeem them in the bitter aftermath of the defeat of Communism. Barack Obama has had substitute parents — patrons who eased his way — throughout his life, including Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, and Emil Jones.
Notice that I have not said that Obama is dangerous. A lot depends on defeating ObamaCare, cap-and-trade, EPA regulation of CO2, and dozens of other mad and foolish schemes.

The American political system is resilient, but we must know the truth. I believe that “the Red Avenger” is the ground truth of who Obama really is.

It’s not Obama’s blackness that’s at issue. It’s his redness.

Climate Change = World Govt

15 12 2009

Note: I know this subject is desperately dull, but you need to read this. It’ll take, at most, 5 minutes of your time. After you’ve read it, please spread the word to your friends and on cyberspace!

As world leaders are flying into Copenhagen for the anticipated climax of the two-week U.N. climate change conference, things are not going well. The conference is bogged down in disagreements among negotiators for the U.S., the European Union and a bloc of developing nations led by China.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the disagreements involve elemental issues about size of emission reductions, the amount of money rich countries should pay poor countries to help fund a cleanup, and the extent of monitoring that countries should have to accept. In particular, the U.S. and China are in a standoff over the U.S.’s insistence that China commit to a legally binding agreement — a step China has resisted — and the degree to which China’s actions should be open to international review.

Any rejoicing by climate change skeptics is premature and ill-advised. The plain fact is that the world’s heads of state – including Obama and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown — will converge on Copenhagen by this Friday. So the conference must and will produce SOME kind of agreement (treaty). And that treaty will inevitably entail the formation of a WORLD GOVERNMENT. Now, they’re not going to call it “World Government,” but will call it by some insanely dull bureaucratic name — the Conference of the Parties. Whatever it’s called, a pile of feces by whatever name smells just as foul. Say goodbye to American sovereignty!

Why is a world government inevitable if/when Copenhagen produces a climate change treaty? The logic is really quite simple.

Any climate change agreement must be enforceable and administered by some supra-national body. That body will be the world government.

In his speech at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, on October 15 this year, Lord Christopher Monckton had warned us that the Copenhagen conference will accomplish three goals:

  1. Create a world government that will
  2. Enforce treaty agreements and
  3. Transfer wealth from the developed countries (the West & Japan) to the less developed countries (LDC), in satisfication of “climate debt” and to finance the LDCs’ compliance with the climate change treaty.

I read the draft version of the climate change treaty and can verify that what Monckton said is true.

The draft treaty is called “UNITED NATIONS AD HOC WORKING GROUP ON LONG-TERM COOPERATIVE ACTION UNDER THE CONVENTION.” (You can read it for yourself here in pdf format.) Beginning on page 18 is para. 38 of the draft treaty, which says the following (my words are in red):

38. The scheme for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention will be based on three basic pillars: government; facilitative mechanism; and financial mechanism, and the basic organization of which will include the following:

1. World Government

(a) The government will be ruled by the COP [Conference of the Parties] with the support of a new subsidiary body on adaptation, and of an Executive Board responsible for the management of the new funds and the related facilitative processes and bodies. The current Convention secretariat will operate as such, as appropriate.

2. Wealth Redistribution
b) The Convention’s financial mechanism will include a multilateral climate change fund including five windows: (a) an Adaptation window, (b) a Compensation window, to address loss and damage from climate change impacts [i.e., the "climate debt" Monckton referred to], including insurance, rehabilitation and compensatory components, (c) a Technology window; (d) a Mitigation window; and (e) a REDD window, to support a multi-phases process for positive forest incentives relating to REDD actions.

3. Enforcement Authority

The Convention’s facilitative mechanism will include: (a) work programmes for adaptation and mitigation; (b) a long-term REDD process; (c) a short-term technology action plan; (d) an expert group on adaptation established by the subsidiary body on adaptation, and expert groups on mitigation, technologies and on monitoring, reporting and verification; and (e) an international registry for the monitoring, reporting and verification of compliance of emission reduction commitments, and the transfer of technical and financial resources from developed countries to developing countries. The secretariat will provide technical and administrative support, including a new centre for information exchange [i.e., enforcement].

Not convinced? Here are some more quotes from the draft climate change treaty. On page 39, under the heading “Means of Implementation” are the following:

32. Funds will be under the control of the COP as the supreme authority of the Convention.

33. By 2020 the scale of financial flows to support adaptation in developing countries must be [at least USD 67 billion] [in the range of USD 70140 billion] per year.

On page 60 of the draft climate change treaty is the following:

25. Each Party (except the least developed countries) would be required to: (a) Maintain a national schedule; (b) Meet and/or implement the nationally appropriate mitigation commitments and/or actions registered in its national schedule; (c) Measure and report on the outcomes of these commitments and/or actions.

26. Each Party would be required to register in its national schedule: (a) A national emissions pathway to 2050

To conclude, Copenhagen will produce a climate change treaty. And a climate change treaty will inevitably entail the creation of a world government. It is nothing less than CRIMINAL that noone in the media is reporting on this! Please spread the word! Our national sovereignty and personal liberty are in jeopardy.

Question With Boldness

15 12 2009
Tom in NC wrote an email to me late yesterday, and to tell you the truth I was glad to hear from him. He’s one of those members that checks-in or will post something at least once a week. In the email he expressed why he had

Transformational - Barack Obama 2012 - Comrade

backed off from getting involved and/or writing anything. The observations he makes below gives you insight as to why, but more importantly, it gives you insight as to how important it is that we NOT give up the fight. Personally, I see it this way… It’s Good vs Evil and Good must win!

Gio-
Where do we go from here?

We have about 11 months until the midterm elections and eventhough only about 34% of people in this country support Obamacare, this administration and this congress are hell bent to force it down our throats with zero consideration for the will of the people. In 2010 a lot of the congressmen and women and senators(Republican and Democrat alike) are going to find themselves unemployed but until then they are still a dangerous lot. They can still impose their will on us, can still continue to strip away our rights. The TEA Parties are dismissed as fringe protests and in most cases ignored by our government and the SCM(State Controlled Media), the people raising concerns to our so-called representatives at the town hall meetings were called radical extremists or right wing nutjobs, the 9/12 March on DC by hundreds of thousands people from across this country was downplayed and outright lied about by the media. Last but not least the liberals love to mock us who support the TEA Party movement by referring to us as tea baggers(a deviant practice used by homosexuals, I will not give it any credence by describing it any further). So now we have a White House occupant that has gone around the world trashing and belittling our accomplishments, outright lying about our religous values, schmoozing our enemies while ignoring our allies. A government ignoring the will of the people, a SCM that lies and covers up the facts and people and organizations(Zoros, Move-on.org, ACORN, etc)in the background providing funding, fraud and corruption on a monumental scale. I know without a doubt that all this is calculated, not by accident or coincidence, this government wants total and complete control over all of us. So the question comesWHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE ?

We have several choices; First of all PRAY, pray for guidance from the Lord, he will lead you in the direction he will want you to take. Keep hammering at our representatives through phone calls, e-mails and requesting face-to-face meetings. If you are so inclined run for public office, you CAN make a difference even at the lowest levels of public service. Start a Conservative blog or contribute you thoughts to one, you never know who will read it and perhaps based on your writings could change someone’s opinion. Organize or participate in peaceful protests against the government.

But in the present climate where we have an occupant of the White House and a Congress who is both devious and dangerous, who are doing their best to kill our economy, make us a laughing stock before the world, ignoring threats and treating terrorism like a petty crime and give constitutional rights to terrorists who will make a mockery of our judicial system and has the potential to put our foreign policy, our intelligence organizations and past government officials including Bush and Cheney on trial. Taking us down the dark road to socialism through government run healthcare and cap and trade, the above choices may not be enough.

More drastic and perilous actions may be required, we must plan and be prepared, our government has become a dangerous entity, it has divided us as we have never been divided before, it is pushing us to dangerous and explosive limits and our options are becoming very limited. The thought of taking our country back by force from a corrupt government is not anything I would look forward to, I guess the first real test will come in 2010 and I pray that the tentacles of corruption snaking througout our government can finally be cut off, but we hve a tough road ahead, we can’t afford business as usual or candidates that will be corrupted by money and power, our vetting procedures must be fool-proof and Conservatives need only apply. The American people come from a proud heritage, we love our freedom and we love our country and will not shy away from a fight, we never have and never will, our fore-fathers fought, died and endured unimaginable hardships in order to establish and preserve our freedoms and  WE WILL NOT LET THEIR EFFORTS BE IN VAIN!!!!

Holiday Blues

15 12 2009

A Gio Christmas Portrait.

Let me start out by saying… this is and always has been my favorite time of year. I can be heard singing or humming Christmas Carols from the moment I wake til the moment I lay down my head to sleep. And I may complain about going shopping, but I do love the decorations, the Christmas Music playing everywhere, and the unusually upbeat temporary holiday seasonal workers that actually say with pride “MERRY CHRISTMAS”. But today was different. I spent most of the day under the supervision of medical techs from special fields of expertise, so I had ample opportunity to talk to medical providers and patients alike. My purpose to engage people was two-fold. First I wanted to spread some cheer. Second, I wanted to see how strangers felt about Obamacare. I soon found out that nobody wanted to talk about it. Talk about the weather, or the fish in the tank at the Doc’s office, or someone’s recent hip replacement, no problem. But talk about anything political and the conversation was soon steered in another direction.

Maybe now I know why. After eating a relaxing meal at one of my favorite steak joints I came straight home to catch-up on the news of the day. I should have stayed at the restaurant and had a few more Beers. These are headlines I picked-up after 60 seconds of scanning for news. Sixty seconds! I may have to save my humming and singing until tomorrow.

CLIMATE CHANGE IS NATURAL: 100 REASONS WHY

Dec 15, 2009 – http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/146138

HERE are the 100 reasons, released in a dossier issued by the European Foundation, why climate change is natural and not man-made:

1. There is “no real scientific proof” that the current warming is caused by the rise of greenhouse gases from man’s activity.

2. Man-made carbon dioxide emissions throughout human history constitute less than 0.00022 percent of the total naturally emitted from the mantle of the earth during geological history.

3. Warmer periods of the Earth’s history came around 800 years before rises in CO2 levels.

4. After World War II, there was a huge surge in recorded CO2 emissions but global temperatures fell for four decades after 1940.

5. Throughout the Earth’s history, temperatures have often been warmer than now and CO2 levels have often been higher – more than ten times as high.

6. Significant changes in climate have continually occurred throughout geologic time.

7. The 0.7C increase in the average global temperature over the last hundred years is entirely consistent with well-established, long-term, natural climate trends.

8. The IPCC theory is driven by just 60 scientists and favourable reviewers not the 4,000 usually cited.

9. Leaked e-mails from British climate scientists – in a scandal known as “Climate-gate” – suggest that that has been manipulated to exaggerate global warming

10. A large body of scientific research suggests that the sun is responsible for the greater share of climate change during the past hundred years.

11. Politicians and activiists claim rising sea levels are a direct cause of global warming but sea levels rates have been increasing steadily since the last ice age 10,000 ago

12. Philip Stott, Emeritus Professor of Biogeography at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London says climate change is too complicated to be caused by just one factor, whether CO2 or clouds

13. Peter Lilley MP said last month that “fewer people in Britain than in any other country believe in the importance of global warming. That is despite the fact that our Government and our political class—predominantly—are more committed to it than their counterparts in any other country in the world”.

14. In pursuit of the global warming rhetoric, wind farms will do very little to nothing to reduce CO2 emissions

15. Professor Plimer, Professor of Geology and Earth Sciences at the University of Adelaide, stated that the idea of taking a single trace gas in the atmosphere, accusing it and finding it guilty of total responsibility for climate change, is an “absurdity”

16. A Harvard University astrophysicist and geophysicist, Willie Soon, said he is “embarrassed and puzzled” by the shallow science in papers that support the proposition that the earth faces a climate crisis caused by global warming.

17. The science of what determines the earth’s temperature is in fact far from settled or understood.

18. Despite activist concerns over CO2 levels, CO2 is a minor greenhouse gas, unlike water vapour which is tied to climate concerns, and which we can’t even pretend to control

19. A petition by scientists trying to tell the world that the political and media portrayal of global warming is false was put forward in the Heidelberg Appeal in 1992. Today, more than 4,000 signatories, including 72 Nobel Prize winners, from 106 countries have signed it.

20. It is claimed the average global temperature increased at a dangerously fast rate in the 20th century but the recent rate of average global temperature rise has been between 1 and 2 degrees C per century – within natural rates

21. Professor Zbigniew Jaworowski, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Central Laboratory for Radiological Protection in Warsaw, Poland says the earth’s temperature has more to do with cloud cover and water vapor than CO2 concentration in the atmosphere.

22. There is strong evidence from solar studies which suggests that the Earth’s current temperature stasis will be followed by climatic cooling over the next few decades

23. It is myth that receding glaciers are proof of global warming as glaciers have been receding and growing cyclically for many centuries

24. It is a falsehood that the earth’s poles are warming because that is natural variation and while the western Arctic may be getting somewhat warmer we also see that the Eastern Arctic and Greenland are getting colder

25. The IPCC claims climate driven “impacts on biodiversity are significant and of key relevance” but those claims are simply not supported by scientific research

26. The IPCC threat of climate change to the world’s species does not make sense as wild species are at least one million years old, which means they have all been through hundreds of climate cycles

27. Research goes strongly against claims that CO2-induced global warming would cause catastrophic disintegration of the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets.

28. Despite activist concerns over CO2 levels, rising CO2 levels are our best hope of raising crop yields to feed an ever-growing population

29. The biggest climate change ever experienced on earth took place around 700 million years ago

30. The slight increase in temperature which has been observed since 1900 is entirely consistent with well-established, long-term natural climate cycles

31. Despite activist concerns over CO2 levels, rising CO2 levels of some so-called “greenhouse gases” may be contributing to higher oxygen levels and global cooling, not warming

32. Accurate satellite, balloon and mountain top observations made over the last three decades have not shown any significant change in the long term rate of increase in global temperatures

33. Today’s CO2 concentration of around 385 ppm is very low compared to most of the earth’s history – we actually live in a carbon-deficient atmosphere

34. It is a myth that CO2 is the most common greenhouse gas because greenhouse gases form about 3% of the atmosphere by volume, and CO2 constitutes about 0.037% of the atmosphere

35. It is a myth that computer models verify that CO2 increases will cause significant global warming because computer models can be made to “verify” anything

36. There is no scientific or statistical evidence whatsoever that global warming will cause more storms and other weather extremes

37. One statement deleted from a UN report in 1996 stated that “none of the studies cited above has shown clear evidence that we can attribute the observed climate changes to increases in greenhouse gases”

38. The world “warmed” by 0.07 +/- 0.07 degrees C from 1999 to 2008, not the 0.20 degrees C expected by the IPCC

39. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says “it is likely that future tropical cyclones (typhoons and hurricanes) will become more intense” but there has been no increase in the intensity or frequency of tropical cyclones globally

40. Rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere can be shown not only to have a negligible effect on the Earth’s many ecosystems, but in some cases to be a positive help to many organisms

41. Researchers who compare and contrast climate change impact on civilizations found warm periods are beneficial to mankind and cold periods harmful

42. The Met Office asserts we are in the hottest decade since records began but this is precisely what the world should expect if the climate is cyclical

43. Rising CO2 levels increase plant growth and make plants more resistant to drought and pests

44. The historical increase in the air’s CO2 content has improved human nutrition by raising crop yields during the past 150 years

45. The increase of the air’s CO2 content has probably helped lengthen human lifespans since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution

46. The IPCC alleges that “climate change currently contributes to the global burden of disease and premature deaths” but the evidence shows that higher temperatures and rising CO2 levels has helped global populations

47. In May of 2004, the Russian Academy of Sciences published a report concluding that the Kyoto Protocol has no scientific grounding at all.

48. The “Climate-gate” scandal pointed to a expensive public campaign of disinformation and the denigration of scientists who opposed the belief that CO2 emissions were causing climate change

49. The head of Britain’s climate change watchdog has predicted households will need to spend up to £15,000 on a full energy efficiency makeover if the Government is to meet its ambitious targets for cutting carbon emissions.

50. Wind power is unlikely to be the answer to our energy needs. The wind power industry argues that there are “no direct subsidies” but it involves a total subsidy of as much as £60 per MWh which falls directly on electricity consumers. This burden will grow in line with attempts to achieve Wind power targets, according to a recent OFGEM report.

51. Wind farms are not an efficient way to produce energy. The British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) accepts a figure of 75 per cent back-up power is required.

52. Global temperatures are below the low end of IPCC predictions not at “at the top end of IPCC estimates”

53. Climate alarmists have raised the concern over acidification of the oceans but Tom Segalstad from Oslo University in Norway , and others, have noted that the composition of ocean water – including CO2, calcium, and water – can act as a buffering agent in the acidification of the oceans.

54. The UN’s IPCC computer models of human-caused global warming predict the emergence of a “hotspot” in the upper troposphere over the tropics.  Former researcher in the Australian Department of Climate Change, David Evans, said there is no evidence of such a hotspot

55. The argument that climate change is a of result of global warming caused by human activity is the argument of flat Earthers.

56. The manner in which US President Barack Obama sidestepped Congress to order emission cuts shows how undemocratic and irrational the entire international decision-making process has become with regards to emission-target setting.

57. William Kininmonth, a former head of the National Climate Centre and a consultant to the World Meteorological Organisation, wrote “the likely extent of global temperature rise from a doubling of CO2 is less than 1C. Such warming is well within the envelope of variation experienced during the past 10,000 years and insignificant in the context of glacial cycles during the past million years, when Earth has been predominantly very cold and covered by extensive ice sheets.”

58. Canada has shown the world targets derived from the existing Kyoto commitments were always unrealistic and did not work for the country.

59. In the lead up to the Copenhagen summit, David Davis MP said of previous climate summits, at Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and Kyoto in 1997 that many had promised greater cuts, but “neither happened”, but we are continuing along the same lines.

60. The UK ’s environmental policy has a long-term price tag of about £55 billion, before taking into account the impact on its economic growth.

61. The UN’s panel on climate change warned that Himalayan glaciers could melt to a fifth of current levels by 2035. J. Graham Cogley a professor at Ontario Trent University, claims this inaccurate stating the UN authors got the date from an earlier report wrong by more than 300 years.

62. Under existing Kyoto obligations the EU has attempted to claim success, while actually increasing emissions by 13 per cent, according to Lord Lawson. In addition the EU has pursued this scheme by purchasing “offsets” from countries such as China paying them billions of dollars to destroy atmospheric pollutants, such as CFC-23, which were manufactured purely in order to be destroyed.

63. It is claimed that the average global temperature was relatively unchanging in pre-industrial times but sky-rocketed since 1900, and will increase by several degrees more over the next 100 years according to Penn State University researcher Michael Mann. There is no convincing empirical evidence that past climate was unchanging, nor that 20th century changes in average global temperature were unusual or unnatural.

64. Michael Mann of Penn State University has actually shown that the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age did in fact exist, which contrasts with his earlier work which produced the “hockey stick graph” which showed a constant temperature over the past thousand years or so followed by a recent dramatic upturn.

65. The globe’s current approach to climate change in which major industrialised countries agree to nonsensical targets for their CO2 emissions by a given date, as it has been under the Kyoto system, is very expensive.

66. The “Climate-gate” scandal revealed that a scientific team had emailed one another about using a “trick” for the sake of concealing a “decline” in temperatures when looking at the history of the Earth’s temperature.

67. Global temperatures have not risen in any statistically-significant sense for 15 years and have actually been falling for nine years. The “Climate-gate” scandal revealed a scientific team had expressed dismay at the fact global warming was contrary to their predictions and admitted their inability to explain it was “a travesty”.

68. The IPCC predicts that a warmer planet will lead to more extreme weather, including drought, flooding, storms, snow, and wildfires. But over the last century, during which the IPCC claims the world experienced more rapid warming than any time in the past two millennia, the world did not experience significantly greater trends in any of these extreme weather events.

69. In explaining the average temperature standstill we are currently experiencing, the Met Office Hadley Centre ran a series of computer climate predictions and found in many of the computer runs there were decade-long standstills but none for 15 years – so it expects global warming to resume swiftly.

70. Richard Lindzen, Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, wrote: “The notion of a static, unchanging climate is foreign to the history of the Earth or any other planet with a fluid envelope.  Such hysteria (over global warming) simply represents the scientific illiteracy of much of the public, the susceptibility of the public to the substitution of repetition for truth.”

71. Despite the 1997 Kyoto Protocol’s status as the flagship of the fight against climate change it has been a failure.

72. The first phase of the EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), which ran from 2005 to 2007 was a failure. Huge over-allocation of permits to pollute led to a collapse in the price of carbon from €33 to just €0.20 per tonne meaning the system did not reduce emissions at all.

73. The EU trading scheme, to manage carbon emissions has completely failed and actually allows European businesses to duck out of making their emissions reductions at home by offsetting, which means paying for cuts to be made overseas instead.

74. To date “cap and trade” carbon markets have done almost nothing to reduce emissions.

75. In the United States , the cap-and-trade is an approach designed to control carbon emissions and will impose huge costs upon American citizens via a carbon tax on all goods and services produced in the United States. The average family of four can expect to pay an additional $1700, or £1,043, more each year. It is predicted that the United States will lose more than 2 million jobs as the result of cap-and-trade schemes.

76. Dr Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, has indicated that out of the 21 climate models tracked by the IPCC the differences in warming exhibited by those models is mostly the result of different strengths of positive cloud feedback – and that increasing CO2 is insufficient to explain global-average warming in the last 50 to 100 years.

77. Why should politicians devote our scarce resources in a globally competitive world to a false and ill-defined problem, while ignoring the real problems the entire planet faces, such as: poverty, hunger, disease or terrorism.

78. A proper analysis of ice core records from the past 650,000 years demonstrates that temperature increases have come before, and not resulted from, increases in CO2 by hundreds of years.

79. Since the cause of global warming is mostly natural, then there is in actual fact very little we can do about it. (We are still not able to control the sun).

80. A substantial number of the panel of 2,500 climate scientists on the United Nation’s International Panel on Climate Change, which created a statement on scientific unanimity on climate change and man-made global warming, were found to have serious concerns.

81. The UK’s Met Office has been forced this year to re-examine 160 years of temperature data after admitting that public confidence in the science on man-made global warming has been shattered by revelations about the data.

82.  Politicians and activists push for renewable energy sources such as wind turbines under the rhetoric of climate change, but it is essentially about money – under the system of Renewable Obligations. Much of the money is paid for by consumers in electricity bills. It amounts to £1 billion a year.

83. The “Climate-gate” scandal revealed that a scientific team had tampered with their own data so as to conceal inconsistencies and errors.

84. The “Climate-gate” scandal revealed that a scientific team had campaigned for the removal of a learned journal’s editor, solely because he did not share their willingness to debase science for political purposes.

85. Ice-core data clearly show that temperatures change centuries before concentrations of atmospheric CO2 change. Thus, there appears to be little evidence for insisting that changes in concentrations of CO2 are the cause of past temperature and climate change.

86. There are no experimentally verified processes explaining how CO2 concentrations can fall in a few centuries without falling temperatures – in fact it is changing temperatures which cause changes in CO2 concentrations, which is consistent with experiments that show CO2 is the atmospheric gas most readily absorbed by water.

87. The Government’s Renewable Energy Strategy contains a massive increase in electricity generation by wind power costing around £4 billion a year over the next twenty years. The benefits will be only £4 to £5 billion overall (not per annum). So costs will outnumber benefits by a range of between eleven and seventeen times.

88. Whilst CO2 levels have indeed changed for various reasons, human and otherwise, just as they have throughout history, the CO2 content of the atmosphere has increased since the beginning of the industrial revolution, and the growth rate has now been constant for the past 25 years.

89. It is a myth that CO2 is a pollutant, because nitrogen forms 80% of our atmosphere and human beings could not live in 100% nitrogen either: CO2 is no more a pollutant than nitrogen is and CO2 is essential to life.

90. Politicians and climate activists make claims to rising sea levels but certain members in the IPCC chose an area to measure in Hong Kong that is subsiding. They used the record reading of 2.3 mm per year rise of sea level.

91. The accepted global average temperature statistics used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change show that no ground-based warming has occurred since 1998.

92. If one factors in non-greenhouse influences such as El Nino events and large volcanic eruptions, lower atmosphere satellite-based temperature measurements show little, if any, global warming since 1979, a period over which atmospheric CO2 has increased by 55 ppm (17 per cent).

93. US President Barack Obama pledged to cut emissions by 2050 to equal those of 1910 when there were 92 million Americans. In 2050, there will be 420 million Americans, so Obama’s promise means that emissions per head will be approximately what they were in 1875. It simply will not happen.

94. The European Union has already agreed to cut emissions by 20 percent to 2020, compared with 1990 levels, and is willing to increase the target to 30 percent. However, these are unachievable and the EU has already massively failed with its Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), as EU emissions actually rose by 0.8 percent from 2005 to 2006 and are known to be well above the Kyoto goal.

95. Australia has stated it wants to slash greenhouse emissions by up to 25 percent below 2000 levels by 2020, but the pledges were so unpopular that the country’s Senate has voted against the carbon trading Bill, and the Opposition’s Party leader has now been ousted by a climate change sceptic.

96. Canada plans to reduce emissions by 20 percent compared with 2006 levels by 2020, representing approximately a 3 percent cut from 1990 levels but it simultaneously defends its Alberta tar sands emissions and its record as one of the world’s highest per-capita emissions setters.

97. India plans to reduce the ratio of emissions to production by 20-25 percent compared with 2005 levels by 2020, but all Government officials insist that since India has to grow for its development and poverty alleviation, it has to emit, because the economy is driven by carbon.

98. The Leipzig Declaration in 1996, was signed by 110 scientists who said: “We – along with many of our fellow citizens – are apprehensive about the climate treaty conference scheduled for Kyoto, Japan, in December 1997” and “based on all the evidence available to us, we cannot subscribe to the politically inspired world view that envisages climate catastrophes and calls for hasty actions.”

99. A US Oregon Petition Project stated “We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind. There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of CO2, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.”

100. A report by the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change concluded “We find no support for the IPCC’s claim that climate observations during the twentieth century are either unprecedented or provide evidence of an anthropogenic effect on climate.”

So Much For Joe

Call me, cynical, but I wonder what was Joe Lieberman’s price? Afterall, Mary Landrieu (D-LA) got $300 million.

LIEBERMAN INDICATES SUPPORT FOR HEALTH BILL

Dec 15, 2009 – http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091215/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_overhaul_lieberman_1

Independent Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman says he expects to support the Democrats’ health care legislation as long as any government-run insurance plan stays out of the bill.

Lieberman has been a question mark on the health care legislation for months. To win him over, Senate leaders said late Monday they were backing away from a Medicare expansion Lieberman opposed. They already had dropped a full-blown government insurance program.

Lieberman told reporters Tuesday that if the Medicare expansion and government insurance plan are gone, “I’m going to be in a position where I can say what I’ve wanted to say all along: that I’m ready to vote for health care reform.”

Senate leaders need Lieberman’s support to secure 60 votes necessary to advance the legislation in the 100-member Senate.

DANIEL’S GLOVES

I sat, with two friends, in the picture window of a quaint restaurant just off the corner of the town-square. The food and the company were both especially good that day.

As we talked, my attention was drawn outside, across the street. There, walking into town, was a man who appeared to be carrying all his worldly goods on his back. He was carrying, a well-worn sign that read, ‘I will work for food.’ My heart sank.

I brought him to the attention of my friends and noticed that others around us had stopped eating to focus on him. Heads moved in a mixture of sadness and disbelief.

We continued with our meal, but his image lingered in my mind. We finished our meal and went our separate ways. I had errands to do and quickly set out to accomplish them. I glanced toward the town square, looking somewhat halfheartedly for the strange visitor. I was fearful, knowing that seeing him again would call some response. I drove through town and saw nothing of him. I made some purchases at a store and got back in my car.

Deep within me, the Spirit of God kept speaking to me: ‘Don’t go back to the office until you’ve at least driven once more around the square.’

Then with some hesitancy, I headed back into town. As I turned the square’s third corner, I saw him. He was standing on the steps of the store front church, going through his sack.

I stopped and looked; feeling both compelled to speak to him, yet wanting to drive on. The empty parking space on the corner seemed to be a sign from God: an invitation to park. I pulled in, got out and approached the town’s newest visitor.

‘Looking for the pastor?’ I asked.

‘Not really,’ he replied, ‘just resting.’

‘Have you eaten today?’

‘Oh, I ate something early this morning.’

‘Would you like to have lunch with me?’

‘Do you have some work I could do for you?’

‘No work,’ I replied ‘I commute here to work from the city, but I would like to take you to lunch..’

‘Sure,’ he replied with a smile.

As he began to gather his things, I asked some surface questions. Where you headed?’

‘ St. Louis ‘

‘Where you from?’

‘Oh, all over; mostly Florida …’

‘How long you been walking?’

‘Fourteen years,’ came the reply.

I knew I had met someone unusual. We sat across from each other in the same restaurant I had left earlier. His face was weathered slightly beyond his 38 years. His eyes were dark yet clear, and he spoke with an eloquence and articulation that was startling. He removed his jacket to reveal a bright red T-shirt that said, ‘Jesus is The Never Ending Story.’

Then Daniel’s story began to unfold. He had seen rough times early in life. He’d made some wrong choices and reaped the consequences. Fourteen years earlier, while backpacking across the country, he had stopped on the beach in Daytona. He tried to hire on with some men who were putting up a large tent and some equipment. A concert, he thought.

He was hired, but the tent would not house a concert but revival services, and in those services he saw life more clearly. He gave his life over to God

‘Nothing’s been the same since,’ he said, ‘I felt the Lord telling me to keep walking, and so I did, some 14 years now.’

‘Ever think of stopping?’ I asked.

‘Oh, once in a while, when it seems to get the best of me. But God has given me this calling. I give out Bibles That’s what’s in my sack. I work to buy food and Bibles, and I give them out when His Spirit leads.’

I sat amazed. My homeless friend was not homeless. He was on a mission and lived this way by choice. The question burned inside for a moment and then I asked: ‘What’s it like?’

‘What?’

‘To walk into a town carrying all your things on your back and to show your sign?’

‘Oh, it was humiliating at first. People would stare and make comments. Once someone tossed a piece of half-eaten bread and made a gesture that certainly didn’t make me feel welcome. But then it became humbling to realize that God was using me to touch lives and change people’s concepts of other folks like me.’

My concept was changing, too. We finished our dessert and gathered his things. Just outside the door, he paused He turned to me and said, ‘Come Ye blessed of my Father and inherit the kingdom I’ve prepared for you. For when I was hungry you gave me food, when I was thirsty you gave me drink, a stranger and you took me in.’

I felt as if we were on holy ground. ‘Could you use another Bible?’ I asked..

He said he preferred a certain translation. It traveled well and was not too heavy. It was also his personal favorite. ‘I’ve read through it 14 times,’ he said.

‘I’m not sure we’ve got one of those, but let’s stop by our church and see.’ I was able to find my new friend a Bible that would do well, and he seemed very grateful.

‘Where are you headed from here?’ I asked.

‘Well, I found this little map on the back of this amusement park coupon.’

‘Are you hoping to hire on there for awhile?’

‘No, I just figure I should go there. I figure someone under that star right there needs a Bible, so that’s where I’m going next.’

He smiled, and the warmth of his spirit radiated the sincerity of his mission. I drove him back to the town-square where we’d met two hours earlier, and as we drove, it started raining. We parked and unloaded his things

‘Would you sign my autograph book?’ he asked. ‘I like to keep messages from folks I meet.’

I wrote in his little book that his commitment to his calling had touched my life. I encouraged him to stay strong. And I left him with a verse of scripture from Jeremiah, ‘I know the plans I have for you, declared the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you; Plans to give you a future and a hope.’

‘Thanks, man,’ he said. ‘I know we just met and we’re really just strangers, but I love you.’

‘I know,’ I said, ‘I love you, too.’ ‘The Lord is good!’

‘Yes, He is. How long has it been since someone hugged you?’ I asked.

A long time,’ he replied

And so on the busy street corner in the drizzling rain, my new friend and I embraced, and I felt deep inside that I had been changed. He put his things on his back, smiled his winning smile and said, ‘See you in the New Jerusalem.’

‘I’ll be there!’ was my reply.

He began his journey again. He headed away with his sign dangling from his bedroll and pack of Bibles. He stopped, turned and said, ‘When you see something that makes you think of me, will you pray for me?’

‘You bet,’ I shouted back, ‘God bless.’

‘God bless.’ And that was the last I saw of him.

Late that evening as I left my office, the wind blew strong. The cold front had settled hard upon the town. I bundled up and hurried to my car. As I sat back and reached for the emergency brake, I saw them… a pair of well-worn brown work gloves neatly laid over the length of the handle. I picked them up and thought of my friend and wondered if his hands would stay warm that night without them.

Then I remembered his words: ‘If you see something that makes you think of me, will you pray for me?’

Today his gloves lie on my desk in my office. They help me to see the world and its people in a new way, and they help me remember those two hours with my unique friend and to pray for his ministry. ‘See you in the New Jerusalem,’ he said. Yes, Daniel, I know I will…

‘I shall pass this way but once. Therefore, any good that I can do or any kindness that I can show, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again.’

Obama Most Dangerous Destructive President

14 12 2009

Nat Hentoff is one of America’s most respected, controversial and uncompromising writers/intellectuals. Not easily pigeon-holed into any category, he is a civil libertarian, Jewish atheist, pro-lifer, and sometime critic of the ideological left. Accordingly, he has angered nearly every political faction. He was a New Yorker staff writer for over 25 years, wrote many books on jazz, biographies and novels, including children’s books, and for 50 years wrote a weekly column for the Village Voice. He is now, at age 84, a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute.

In an interview with the Rutherford Institute on December 11, 2009, Hentoff calls Obama ”possibly the most dangerous and destructive president we have ever had.” Here are excerpts of what Hentoff said in that interview:

I try to avoid hyperbole, but I think Obama is possibly the most dangerous and destructive president we have ever had. An example is ObamaCare…. If the American people have their health care paid for by the government, depending on their age and their condition, they will be subject to a health commission just like in England which will decide if their lives are worth living much longer.

In terms of the Patriot Act, and all the other things he has pledged he would do, such as transparency in government, Obama has reneged on his promises. He pledged to end torture, but he has continued the CIA renditions where you kidnap people and send them to another country to be interrogated….. Throughout Obama’s career, he promised to limit the state secrets doctrine which the Bush-Cheney administration had abused enormously….[But] Obama is doing the same thing, even though he promised not to.

…I am beginning to think that this guy is a phony. Obama seems to have no firm principles that I can discern that he will adhere to. His only principle is his own aggrandizement. This is a very dangerous mindset for a president to have.

Bush was led astray and we were led astray. However, I never thought that Bush himself was, in any sense, “evil.” I am hesitant to say this about Obama. Obama is a bad man in terms of the Constitution. The irony is that Obama was a law professor at the University of Chicago. He would, most of all, know that what he is doing weakens the Constitution.

In fact, we have never had more invasions of privacy than we have now. The Fourth Amendment is on life support and the chief agent of that is the National Security Agency. The NSA has the capacity to keep track of everything we do on the phone and on the internet. Obama has done nothing about that. In fact, he has perpetuated it. He has absolutely no judicial supervision of all of this. So all in all, Obama is a disaster.

I am an atheist, although I very much admire and have been influenced by many traditionally religious people. I say this because the Left has taken what passes for their principles as an absolute religion. They don’t think anymore. They just react. When they have somebody like Obama whom they put into office, they believed in the religious sense and, of course, that is a large part of the reason for their silence on these issues. They are very hesitant to criticize Obama, but that is beginning to change.

…In England, you have what I would call government-imposed euthanasia. Under the British healthcare system, there is a commission that decides whether or not, based on your age and physical condition, the government should continue to pay for your health…. The present Stimulus Bill sets up the equivalent commission in the United States similar to that which is in England. The tipoff was months ago on the ABC network. President Obama was given a full hour to describe and endorse his health plan. A woman in the audience asked Obama about her mother. Her mother was, I believe, 101 years old and was in need of a certain kind of procedure. Her doctor didn’t want to do it because of her age. However, another doctor did and told this woman there is a joy of life in this person. The woman asked President Obama how he would deal with this sort of thing, and Obama said we cannot consider the joy of life in this situation. He said I would advise her to take a pain killer. That is the essence of the President of the United States.

Obama has little, if any, principles except to aggrandize and make himself more and more important. You see that in his foreign policy. Obama lacks a backbone—both a constitutional backbone and a personal backbone. This is a man who is causing us and will cause us a great deal of harm constitutionally and personally. I say personally because I am 84 years old, and this is the first administration that has scared me in terms of my lifespan.

A lot of people voted for Obama because of our history of racial discrimination in this country. They felt good even though they didn’t really know much about him and may have had some doubts. But at least they showed the world we could elect a black president. And that is still part of what he is riding on. Except that, too, is diminishing. In the recent Virginia election, the black vote diminished. Now why was that? I think a lot of black folks are wondering what this guy is really going to do, not only for them but for the country. If the country is injured, they will be injured. That may be sinking in.

the general unemployment rate is going to continue for a long time and for all of us. I have never heard so many heart-wrenching stories of all kinds of people all across the economic spectrum. As usual, the people who are poorest—the blacks, Hispanics and disabled people—are going to suffer more than anyone else under the Obama administration. This is a dishonest administration, because it is becoming clear that the unemployment statistics of the Obama administration are not believable. I can’t think of a single area where Obama is not destructive.

…I spent a lot of time studying our Founders and people like Samuel Adams and the original Tea Party. What Adams and the Sons of Liberty did in Boston was spread the word about the abuses of the British. They had Committees of Correspondence that got the word out to the colonies. We need Committees of Correspondence now, and we are getting them. That is what is happening with the Tea Parties. I wrote a column called “The Second American Revolution” about the fact that people are acting for themselves as it happened with the Sons of Liberty which spread throughout the colonies. That was a very important awakening in this country. A lot of people in the adult population have a very limited idea as to why they are Americans, why we have a First Amendment or a Bill of Rights.

…Joe McCarthy’s regime was ended by Senators who realized that he had gone too far. What we have now may be more insidious. What we have now in America is a surveillance society. We have no idea how much the government knows and how much the CIA even knows about average citizens. The government is not supposed to be doing this in this country. They listen in on our phone calls. I am not exaggerating because I have studied this a long time. You have to be careful about what you do, about what you say, and that is more dangerous than what was happening with McCarthy, but the technology the government now possesses is so much more insidious.

If James Madison or Thomas Jefferson were brought back to life and they looked at television and read the papers, they would not recognize the country.

The media has been very bad about informing us about what is going on. They focus on surface things. They do not focus enough on the fact that the Fourth Amendment is on life support and that we need a return to transparency in government. The media ignores what is really going on. But I am optimistic. I have to be optimistic, as I know you are. That is why you keep writing and keep doing what you do. You have to do this because we have been through very dark periods before. There are enough people who are starting to be actively involved that we can turn things around. And we need to encourage others to become involved.
