As Barry Soetoro’s ObamaCare desperately clings to life support, the Dems in Congress are trying this way and that to formulate a “viable” version. The latest is the scheme concocted by Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mt), chair of the Senate Finance Committee. Baucus proposes a 35% excise tax on insurance companies for “high-cost” medical insurance plans. The Baucus plan will raise $200 billion in revenue, which would then pay for subsidies for the uninsured. [To read the ABC story on this, go HERE.]
Here are two reasons to oppose ObamaCare-Baucus:
1. The Baucus Plan will greatly increase our health care insurance premiums:
Med insurance companies aren’t stupid. They won’t just swallow the added cost of doing business! Instead, they’ll pass on the 35% excise tax onto their customers — you and me.
Simply put, ObamaCare-Baucus will force those of us who do have medical insurance subsidize those who don’t, i.e., we pay for their insurance! Many of the uninsured are young people who choose not to have medical coverage because it is the psychology of youth to think they’re invincible and will live forever.
In the ’08 election, 66% of young voters, 18 to 29, voted for Obama; 32% voted for McCain. Polling shows that younger voters are the most supportive of ObamaCare — but also the most likely to be uninsured.
Even Baucus’ fellow Democrat, Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WVa), warns that that the Baucus version of ObamaCare will mean “a big, big tax” on “a lot of middle class workers,” such as the coal miners in his state.
2. The Baucus Plan directly funds abortions:
ObamaCare-Baucus not only funds abortions, it will also dramatically increase the number of babies likely to be killed by ELECTIVE abortion using federal, i.e., taxpayers’ funds. Abortions that were not previously funded by federal (taxpayers) dollars but will now be funded under Baucus include the killing of innocent human lives conceived in rape or incest. (Why are the babies punished?)
This, despite the fact that the latest Rasmussen Reports national phone survey finds that 48% of American voters oppose any government-subsidized health care plan that covers abortion. Only 13% believe such plans should be required to cover abortions, and 32% favor a more neutral approach with no requirements in either direction.
Philosophers define evil as the intentional harming of an innocent other, for the self-interested gain of the evil-doer.

This is what Max Baucus looks like.
By that definition, ObamaCare-Baucus is evil. So is the man who proposed the plan, Sen. Max Baucus. The babies who will be aborted under his plan — to benefit the selfish interests of irresponsible women – are innocent. Americans whose medical insurance premiums will be raised by 35% or more — so as to benefit those who choose NOT to have insurance — are also innocent.
Let’s drive a stake into ObamaCare and kill it once and for all.

This is nothing but a massive, stealth economy-killing tax increase.

There’s a bigger story in this most people may have missed, the point of ObamaCare is to shift the cost of Medicaid (which is suppose to pay for indigent care – the uninsured) onto those who currently pay for health insurance. The 35% tax is the more transparent version to force the insurance companies to be the intermediaries in passing on this cost to the premium payers. ObamaCare is a tax increase on everyone. What will the government do with the money it saves from relieving itself of Medicaid? Why spend it on something else, i.e. ZERO SAVINGS.
If this all sounds vaguely familiar, it is, it’s called RomneyCare. We all know how successful RomneyCare is? Massachusetts is going broke.
btw-If I were the insurance company, I would modify all the so called cadillac plans (primarily unions and execs) to reduce benefits to below the dollar cut offs listed in the bill. Why should I as a company pay a 35% tax which would take a bite out of my bottom line and put me at a competitive disadvantage by being forced to raise the premiums on the lower tier plans? Where in blazes do you think the money for the 35% is going to come from? In fact what Dems propose here is egregious to the poor and middle class buy forcing them to subsidize the cadillac plans!!! It’s obscene.
Just another example of Democrats screwing over the poor.
Dan,
This is just one of the reasons why I could not support Romney in the primary. If he was truly a Conservative, he would never have given such an amazingly stupid program his blessing.
You, me, and a whole ton of other folks said this would happen in Mass, and now that it has, somehow we’re the stupid ones. Only in America!

I wonder what it would really take to have a REAL Tax revolt?
I have supplemental private insurance in addition to my Medicare. I think that is redundant. I know there are thousands of people out there who have private (non-employment related) insurance, for which they pay a significant amount in premiums. What would happen if we all just dropped that insurance? Just wondering. I’d still get medical care wouldn’t I? Just not as “good” as what I’m getting now. On the other hand, if we who have private insurance will have to subsidize those who do not, why should I have to pay for theirs? On the third hand, chances are I’d have to drop my present insurance because I wouldn’t be able to afford to pay for someone else’s too. If I could, Cecil would be on my plan.
