The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 40% of the nation’s voters Strongly Disapprove of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President, vs. 28% who Strongly Approve, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12.
Today’s Approval Index rating reflects a slight improvement from yesterday’s record low of -14. Today is Obama’s third straight day with an Approval Index rating in negative double digits. He has never had four straight days with such low ratings.
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve.
Meanwhile, the re-election of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is in big trouble. Reid is trailing a GOP challenger, former basketball player Danny Tarkanian, by double digits (Reid’s 38% vs. Tarkanian’s 49%). Reid also trails another challenger, chairwoman of the Nevada Republican Party Sue Lowden, by 5 points (Reid’s 40% vs. Lowden’s 45%).

As a former resident of Clark County, NV (read that Las Vegas) I can assure you the the Tarkanian name is sheer magic in the valley. The UNLV Rebels led by Coach Tarkanian brought an immeasurable level of joy to the fans, (that would be everybody in town) an invitation to the final four and absolute name recognition. It appears that some one in the RNC and local organization have finally awakened. A brilliant choice never mind that it’s not the coach! Harry Reid RIP.
Thanks, Cecil, for explaining the significance of the Tarkanian name! That just made my day
