Mark Sanford Tracks Bigfoot

23 06 2009

This particular story has really gotten under my skin. Simply because Gov. Mark Sanford is a Conservative, and critic of the Obama administration, his wish to go hiking by himself is considered by the leftist media to be something  sinister.

How’s that song go…. “Only in America”

Gio-

Sanford disappears to hike Appalachian Trail (on Naked Hiking Day)

We’re not suggesting that the formerly missing Governor of South Carolina specifically ditched his family and security detail to go hiking on Naked Hiking Day. It’s just that one of the days he hit the trail also happened to be the aforementioned holiday. [Editor’s note: This paragraph was changed to make clear that the governor’s timing was a coincidence).

Until late yesterday, no one would say publicly where he was. Poof. He just disappeared.

The story started to resemble a John Grisham novel. A southern conservative governor and very vocal critic of a popular liberal president eluded his security detail and completely disappeared with his last known whereabouts — before he (or someone) turned off his cell phones — somewhere outside of Atlanta.

Staff was silent. Some were talking about succession plans. The First Lady though said she wasn’t concerned. “He was writing something and wanted some space to get away from the kids,” she said.

But many wondered aloud how this traditional, family-loving, Republican governor of a southern state could miss Fathers Day. After all he’s got four children! Was something sinister in the air?

Then it took a Farrelly brothers screenplay type of twist. Sanford had not disappeared. According to his spokesman, he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Coincidentally, on Naked Hiking Day.

It’s a big tradition. Many hikers celebrate the summer solstice by hiking au naturel. It just so happened the solstice occurred on Fathers Day — one of the days Sanford was hiking…. yada, yada, yada.

MSM’s Double Standard

23 06 2009

media bias

This comes as no surprise to conservatives, who have known all along that the MainStreamMedia are blatantly biased in favor of Hussein Obama and the Left. But it’s still good to find specific examples.

In the meanwhile, the big 3 networks’ evening news continue to lose audience. CBS Evening News with Katie Couric set an all-time low last week with 4.89 million total viewers and only 1.42 million of television’s most coveted audience — the 25-54 age group. It was also the lowest (since records began in the 1991-’92 season) for ABC’s World News with Charles Gibson, which drew 6.42 million total viewers and 1.77 million age 25-54 viewers. See story here.

Might their low ratings be related to their obvious bias, hmmm?

Media Cheer Obama’s Golf Outings; Criticized Republicans’ Trips to Course

Tuesday, June 23, 2009
By Penny Starr, Senior Staff Writer

http://cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=49931

CNSNews.com)President Barack Obama has gone to the golf course at least 11 times since he took the oath of office a little more than six months ago — three rounds were played during the late January, 12-day holiday Obama took with his family in Hawaii; one at Andrews Air Force Base; and seven at Ft. Belvoir Golf Course, including a round on Sunday, Father’s Day, with Vice President Joe Biden.

These 11 rounds played by the president are documented through media reports of his golf trips. The White House press office told CNSNews.com that to confirm every round of golf played by the president since he took office would take “hours” because the only records kept are those sent to the media through e-mails that are not posted on the White House Web site because they are for media planning only.

Despite ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, ongoing violence in Iran, and an economy that Obama has described as the worst since the Great Depression, the president has golfed multiple times in the past several weeks–on April 26, May 16, May 25, May 31, June 7, June 9, June 14 and June 21.

Obama’s golf outings have generated favorable reports from the media, in contrast to his predecessor, George W. Bush.

On Aug. 5, 2002, The Washington Post wrote about President Bush golfing near his parents’ home in Kennebunkport, Maine. Under the headline “Before Golf, Bush Decries Latest Deaths in Mideast,” staff writer Mike Allen described Bush as he “sprang from his golf cart at 6:15 a.m. and said he was distressed to hear about the latest suicide bombers in Israel.”

“Bush, wearing khakis and a knit shirt, was holding a driver in his gloved left hand,” Allen wrote. “However incongruous the setting, the president plunged ahead,” Allen wrote.

“There are a few killers who want to stop the peace process that we have started, and we must not let them,” he [Bush] said. “I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers.”

“His business out of the way,” Allen wrote, “Bush barely paused for breath before saying, ‘Thank you. Now watch this drive.’”

A search of news reports on Nexis revealed that photographers, but not reporters have access to Obama when he is on the links. But his outings have been covered, including by The Washington Post on June 9, 2009, in an article with the headline “Just the Sport for A Leader Most Driven.”

“What’s the deal? Why golf?” Post staff writer Richard Leiby wrote. “The attraction seems to be simple. It’s a great escape; the game demands such attention that nothing else matters. It’s time spent with friends, an unhurried afternoon in loose clothing (shorts seem to be Obama’s preference).”

Leiby continued, “To some, Obama’s frequent outings reflect a cool self-confidence.”

Leiby even quoted a sports psychologist who said Obama seemed able to play golf despite the grim reports by the media about the wars and the economy.

In August 2003, Bush said he decided to stop playing golf to show his respect for the men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.

“I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf,” Bush said in an interview with Politico and Yahoo News on May 13, 2008. “I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”

Bush said he made the decision after the August 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, which killed Sergio Vieira de Mello, the top U.N. official in Iraq and the organization’s high commissioner of human rights. He was golfing when he got the news.

“I was playing golf–I think I was in central Texas–and they pulled me off the golf course and I said, ‘It’s just not worth it anymore to do.’”

Bush was criticized for giving up golf, including by presidential historian Robert Dallek who was quoted in a May 14, 2008 article in The Washington Post.

Dallek said Bush’s remarks about Iraq “speak to his shallowness.” Dallek added: “That’s his idea of sacrifice, to give up golf?”

Bush’s father, President George H.W. Bush, also was criticized for golfing in a time of war.

In an Aug. 3, 2006 article in USA Today entitled “No Rest for the President,” it noted that George W. Bush cut his summer vacation to 10 days because of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, and a sidebar reviewed other presidential vacations.

Among other things, the sidebar said, “George H.W. Bush: In 1990, Bush was criticized for playing golf and fishing at his Kennebunkport, Maine, summer home and seeming indifferent as U.S. troops were being deployed to the Persian Gulf in anticipation of a war with Iraq.”

Obama golfed on May 25 after he spoke and placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery on Memorial Day. Presidential aides told the media that Obama observed a moment of silence at 3 p.m. while on the links.

Obama also played golf on June 7, the day he returned from his trip to Egypt and Germany, where he visited Holocaust concentration camps, and Normandy, France, where as many as 6,000 American troops died when Allied Forces invaded the country during World War II.

“With his wife and daughters still in France, the president ducked out of the White House 90 minutes after getting home and headed out to the Andrews Air Force Base course with his clubs to enjoy a round, with skies only partly cloudy and temperatures about 80 degrees,” United Press International reported on June 7.

The following U.S. troops died in Iraq and Afghanistan while Obama was on golf outings, according to records of U.S. troop casualties kept by the Department of Defense:

– Spc. David A. Schaefer Jr., 27, of Belleville, Ill., died May 16 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Schweinfurt, Germany.

–Cmdr. Duane G. Wolfe, 54, of Port Hueneme, Calif., died May 25 from injuries suffered as a result of an improvised explosive device attack on his convoy southeast of Fallujah. Wolfe was assigned to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Gulf Region Division in Iraq.

– Spc. Eduardo S. Silva, 25, of Greenfield, Calif., died June 9 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, of a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 563rd Aviation Support Battalion, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

A Letter to GM

Gregory J. Knox, President, Knox Machinery Inc.

Gregory J. Knox is the president of Knox Machinery, Inc. — a supplier to the Big 3 Autos in America.

Knox received a letter from the president of General Motors North America, requesting support for Obama’s bail-out program. Below is Knox’s seeringly truthful reply.

~Eowyn

……………………

This is the letter Knox received from GM:

Dear Employees & Suppliers,

Congress and the current Administration will soon determine whether to provide immediate support to the domestic auto industry to help it through one of the most difficult economic times in our nation’s history. Your elected officials must hear from all of us now on why this support is critical to our continuing the progress we began prior to the global financial crisis. As an employee or supplier, you have a lot at stake and continue to be one of our most effective and passionate voices. I know GM can count on you to have your voice heard.

Thank you for your urgent action and ongoing support.

Troy Clarke President,

General Motors North America

Here’s Mr. Knox’s response:

Gentlemen:

In response to your request to call legislators and ask for a bailout for the United States automakers please consider the following, and please also pass this onto Troy Clark, the president of General Motors North America for me.

You are both infected with the same entitlement mentality that has bred like cancerous germs in UAW halls for the last countless decades, and whose plague is now sweeping the nation, awaiting our new “messiah” to wave his magical wand and make all our problems go away, while at the same time allowing our once great nation to keep “living the dream”.

The dream is over!

The dream that we can ignore the consumer for years while management myopically focuses on its personal rewards packages at the same time that our factories have been filled with the world’s most overpaid, arrogant, ignorant and laziest entitlement minded “laborers” without paying the price for these atrocities, and that still the masses will line up to buy our products

Don’t tell me I’m wrong. Don’t accuse me of not knowing of what I speak. I have called on Ford, GM, Chrysler, TRW, Delphi, Kelsey Hayes, American Axle and countless other automotive OEM’s and Tier ones for 3 decades now throughout the Midwest and what I’ve seen over the years in these union shops can only be described as disgusting.

Mr. Clark, the president of General Motors, states:

“There is widespread sentiment in this country, our government and especially in the media that the current crisis is completely the result of bad management. It is not.”

You’re right, it’s not JUST management, how about the electricians who walk around the plants like lords in feudal times, making people wait on them for countless hours while they drag ass so they can come in on the weekend and make double and triple time for a job they easily could have done within their normal 40 hour week.

How about the line workers who threaten newbies with all kinds of scare tactics for putting out too many parts on a shift and for being too productive (mustn’t expose the lazy bums who have been getting overpaid for decades for their horrific underproduction, must we?!?) Do you really not know about this stuff?!?

How about this great sentiment abridged from Mr. Clarke’s sad plea: ”over the last few years we have closed the quality and efficiency gaps with our competitors.”

What the hell has Detroit been doing for the last 40 years?!?

Did we really JUST wake up to the gaps in quality and efficiency between us and them?

The K car vs. the Accord?

The Pinto vs. the Civic?!?

Do I need to go on?

We are living through the inevitable outcome of the actions of the United States auto industry for decades.

Time to pay for your sins, Detroit.

I attended an economic summit last week where a brilliant economist, Alan Beaulieu surprised the crowd when he said he would not have given the banks a penny of “bailout money”. Yes, he said, this would cause short term problems, but despite what people like George Bush and Troy Clark would have us believe, the sun would in fact rise the next day and something else would happen where there had been greedy and sloppy banks, new efficient ones would pop up. That is how a free market system works. It does work if we would let it work.

But for some reason we are now deciding that the rest of the world is right and that capitalism doesn’t work that we need the government to step in and “save us”. Save us, hell! We’re nationalizing and unfortunately too many of this once fine nation’s citizens don’t even have a clue that this is what’s really happening but they sure can tell you the stats on their favorite sports teams. Yeah, THAT’S important!

Does it occur to ANYONE that the “competition” has been producing vehicles, EXTREMELY PROFITABLY, for decades now in this country?…

How can that be???

Let’s see:

Fuel efficient…

Listening to customers…

Investing in the proper tooling and automation for the long haul…

Not being too complacent or arrogant to listen to Dr W Edwards Deming 4 decades ago…

Ever increased productivity through quality, lean and six sigma plans…

Treating vendors like strategic partners, rather than like “the enemy”…

Efficient front and back offices….

Non union environment!

Again, I could go on and on, but I really wouldn’t be telling anyone anything they really don’t already know in their hearts.

I have six children, so I am not unfamiliar with the concept of wanting someone to bail you out of a mess that you have gotten yourself into. My children do this on a weekly, if not daily basis, as I did at their age. I do for them what my parents did for me (one of their greatest gifts, by the way), I make them stand on their own two feet and accept the consequences of their actions and work them through.

Radical concept, huh?

Am I there for them in the wings? Of course, but only until such time as they need to be fully on their own as adults.

I don’t want to oversimplify a complex situation, but there certainly are unmistakable parallels here between the proper role of parenting and government.

Detroit and the United States need to pay for their sins.

Bad news people, it’s coming whether we like it or not.

Stop trying to put off the inevitable.

That house in Florida really isn’t worth $750,000.

People who jump across a border really don’t deserve free health care benefits.

That job driving that forklift for the big 3 really isn’t worth $85,000 a year.

We really shouldn’t allow Wal-Mart to stock their shelves with products acquired from a country that unfairly manipulates their currency and has the most atrocious human rights infractions on the face of the globe.

That couple whose combined income is less than $50,000 really shouldn’t be living in that $485,000 home!

Let the market correct itself people. It will. Yes it will be painful, but it’s gonna be painful either way, and the bright side of my proposal is that on the other side of it is a nation that appreciates what is has and doesn’t live beyond its means. Gets back to basics, and redevelops the work ethic that made it the greatest nation in the history of the world and probably turns back to God.

Sorry don’t cut my head off, I’m just the messenger sharing with you the “bad news”.

Southern Baptist Shrinking?

22 06 2009

I’m so glad I ran into this story tonight.

Last week, one of my very closest friends flew in from Nevada and we had a chnce to get caught up for a short time. While talking about the Church he and his family attends, he made two observations that have stuck with me. The first comment was very interesting although it may, or may not, relate to the article below. He said it was odd that he had to move from NC to Nevada to end up attending a real Southern Baptist Church.

This second comment relates perfectly, and I’m afraid is too true in many Churches across the country. He and his family had to switch Churches in Nevada, of course I asked why. His exact comment was “We switched because we wanted to attend a Church that was all about God, not all about the Preacher”.

Southern Baptist leaders disagree: Can retooling reverse decline?

A decade ago you could count on the Southern Baptist Convention to bust out a headline or two on a controversial point in the wider national culture: An apology for a history of racism; a boycott of Disney for gay friendly promotions; a over whether women could be senior pastors.

These days that are more focused on throwing ideological punches inside the meeting hall. Tuesday and Wednesday, when thousands of messengers are expected in Louisville, there will be a face-off over their organizational future (and a showdown with some “hectoring herbivores” — more on that later).

SBC President, Rev. Johnny Hunt, from a Georgia megachurch, is pushing for an “evaluation” of the total structure of the nation’s largest (though dwindling) Protestant denomination. The convention, Hunt says,

… has too often failed to adapt its structure and programs to the changing culture. We are frequently aiming at a culture that went out of existence years ago, failing to understand how mid-20th century methods and strategies are not working in the 21st century.

He wants to streamline and clarify the SBC, he says, to revitalize the true goal — furthering the Jesus’ charge to bring in believers. It’s Article IX of his ten point plan for a “Great Commission Resurgence” and he’s been calling for signatures on it online for weeks.

Meanwhile, the executive chairman of the SBC executive committee, Rev. Morris Chapman, says he won’t sign. He calls Article IX, already toned down from the original draft calling for a reorganization, is still riddled with “negative characterizations and unsupported judgments.” He says,

Revival and spiritual growth are the greatest needs in our Convention and our nation. This is the challenge around which all Southern Baptists can rally. Reorganization is not. Neither is it a prerequisite to revival.

So the messengers will have to decide who is offering the best route to confront the real SBC woes. On Monday, LifeWay Research presented statistics pointing to a smaller, grayer church on the horizon.

The statistics showed a half century of declining growth that could prompt a protracted decline in overall membership. And the median age is bumping 50, up from 44 in 1984, and two years higher than the national median.

LifeWay director Ed Stetzer told editors of Baptist state papers,

If the 50-year trend continues, projected membership of SBC churches would be 8.7 million in 2050, down from 16.2 million last year. Using U.S. Census projected population figures, SBC membership could fall from a peak of 6 percent of the American population in the late 1980s to 2 percent in 2050.

Religion News Service reporter Adelle M. Banks, who has covered the SCB expertly for years, says the Hunt-Chapman disagreement

… is bigger than a personality clash. It’s more a matter of mindsets. Hunt is new blood coming in saying, ‘Lets look at everything so we can get our numbers up again.’ Chapman may represent the more traditional Southern baptist who may have done things the same way for a while.

I haven’t spoken to Hunt or Chapman but it appears to be a difference between a push for change and concern for what change might bring.

At his Founders Ministries blog, Rev. Tom Ascol wonders:

How can taking an honest look at who we are and what we are doing be offensive to truth-loving, kingdom-advancing people? If there are better ways for us to do what we are trying to do in our cooperative efforts, why wouldn’t we want to know?

See for yourself how it goes. Watch the convention here on streaming video here.

Petax-blog200 What you won’t see… the PETA folks. My fave blog post leading up to the SBC meeting is Bible Belt Blogger Frank Lockwood’s post, “Jesus Loves Chickens” on how the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (he calls them “hectoring herbivores”) are urging Baptists, “For Christ’s Sake, Go Vegetarian.”

Lockwood, a fried chicken fan from the days of his church supper childhood, laments…

Partially or fully-hydrogenated chicken fat is one of the few vices that evangelicals can enjoy without feeling guilty. At least it used to be.

DO YOU THINK… the Southern Baptists can still establish a growing, distinctive denomination? Do these internal church battles show a lack of focus on God?

Photo by Bill Janscha, AP: Messengers at the 1997 Southern Baptist Convention voted to boycott Disney theme parks to protest the company’s gay-friendly policies and “Gay Days.”

First Lady calls for volunteers, young Americans answer

I’m going to make this one short (yeah right). If you want to read the story about the first lady asking for volunteerism across the country, simply click on the above Headline. Her story is not quite as important as the one I want to tell you, but they are related.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of running into about 30 teenagers at the grocery store. Most of the kids had white paint all over them, but all of them had a huge smile. You could just sense that they were really enjoying whatever it was they were doing.

Realizing that one of the adults that was with the teens was in line with me at the checkout, I struck up a conversation. Every year he and a few other adults bring teens from all over the south to different parts of Appalachia to help the poor. The teens actually give up a few weeks of their summer vacation to work their butts off getting dirtier than they have ever been, and they love it.  They are part of a larger Church group that help the poor all over the south. This year they are painting houses. Some of what the adult told me actually shook me.

First he told me how their Church had been working with other Churches doing this type of volunteerism for many years and how much he and the kids enjoyed themselves helping out the poor. He then told me that while talking to someone from the state of NC the week prior, that permits may not be issued to the Church groups starting next year. When he inquired as to why, the guy took him to the side and very quietly said “they have to reserve these special permits for Government run volunteer programs run by the Feds”. The Church adult was really surprised when the state guy followed up with “they evidently don’t want religious based volunteers doing this sort of work anymore”.

I could only manage a dumbfounded “WOW”.

SC Governor Missing!?

22 06 2009

I personally admire the Governor.

I personally admire the Governor.

So we have a bit of a mystery here, cool huh? Not so.

When a high profile politician goes missing people usually get concerned. But knowing how the left reacts to situations like this, the following comment after this short article, tells the whole story about the hateful left that represents Liberal/Progressives.

 Where Is Gov. Mark Sanford?

Not on a particular question of policy… but, as in, where is he, physically? South Carolina’s press corps is in a meltdown today because it appears as if the governor skedaddled out of town in a black SUV on Thursday and hasn’t been seen since. His cell phone was traced to a tower in Atlanta. His wife says she’s not worried. His staff says he’s taking some R and R but won’t say where.   There appears to be some confusion as to whetherSanford’s state police security detail knows — or is looking for him. And why wouldn’t he tell his wife? I’ve heard stories of his personal libertarianism, but that’s a little much.

I’m all for governors taking some down time, and even asking for a zone of privacy. And I know that Sanford’s lieutenant governor doesn’t necessarily inspire confidence. Even though the governor of South Carolina doesn’t control nuclear weapons, citizens there ought to know when someone else is in charge for a few days. It’s a  simple courtesy to the people who elected you. [end]

Now for the comment…

“Hopefully he will disappear permanently some day (safely of course). Perhaps he would enjoy Paulau. He has been the worst gov. we have ever had. His fellow Repub don’t even care for him. The stimulus battle was nothing compared to some of the pranks he has pulled. It was very enjoyable to watch him whine and whine because he lost. He is probably racking his brain for a way not to use the funds….”

Obama In Campaign Mode

DyingSomebody please tell me anything that Government has done that saves the taxpayer money. Anyone?

One more gripe…

He said the pharmaceutical industry’s pledge to spend $80 billion over the next decade to reduce the cost of drugs would pay for a portion of his health care plan.

Someone please tell me how you spend $80 billion dollars to SAVE money???

I don’t care how they package this pile of Dog pooh, it’s still gonna be Dog pooh!

<!– — Updated: 1:10 pm –>Obama Reverts to Campaign Motto for Health Care Agenda

By Jeff Zeleny

President Obama dusted off a campaign slogan on Monday, sharply dismissing those who have expressed skepticism that the nation’s health care system will be overhauled by Congress this year.

“Yes we can,” Mr. Obama said. “We are going to get this done.”

In an appearance in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House, Mr. Obama praised an agreement reached last week by drug companies to help close a cap in Medicare’s prescription drug coverage. He said the pharmaceutical industry’s pledge to spend $80 billion over the next decade to reduce the cost of drugs would pay for a portion of his health care plan.

“This is a significant breakthrough on the road to health care reform,” Mr. Obama said, “one that will make a difference in the lives of many older Americans.”

The president said the move will help solve the “doughnut hole,” the gap in coverage that requires people to pay the full cost of prescriptions after they surpass $2,700 before the catastrophic coverage of $6,100 kicks in.

“It’s a reform that will make prescription drugs more affordable for millions of seniors and restore a measure of fairness,” Mr. Obama said.

The brief remarks by the president were intended to highlight that AARP, a politically important group of 40 million Americans, endorsed the plan. Before the president spoke, Barry Rand, the chief executive of AARP, vowed to support the health care overhaul moving through Congress.

“This is an early win for reform. It’s a major step forward,” Mr. Rand said. “It is a signal that the process is working and will work.”

The 10-minute ceremony at the White House, which was awash in optimism, opened another critical week as the administration attempts to build consensus in Congress to overhaul the health care system. The key Democratic senators on the issues, Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut and Max Baucus of Montana, were at the president’s side on Monday.

“Today marks a major step forward, but it will only be meaningful if we complete the journey,” Mr. Obama said, renewing his call for Congress to reach agreement on a health care plan this year.

He closed by addressing critics – not by name – who have suggested that the health care deal won’t be reached this year.

“For those here in Washington who have grown accustomed to sky-is-falling prognosis and the certainties that we cannot get this done,” Mr. Obama said, “I have to repeat – you know, revive – an old saying we had from the campaign: Yes we can. We are going to get this done.”

CONTROVERSIAL FILM ABOUT U.S. RADICAL ISLAM DRAWS HUGE CROWDS AT SCREENINGS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

CLARION FUND URGES COMMUNITY LEADERS TO SHOW THE THIRD JIHAD IN EVERY SCHOOL, HOUSE OF WORSHIP IN AMERICA

(PORTSMOUTH, NH – June 22, 2009) – The Clarion Fund announced today that screenings of its newest documentary film, The Third Jihad, have drawn capacity crowds in more than 30 cities across the United States since the film’s premiere at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, last month.

Highlights have included gala events at the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles on May 17, and The Directors Guild in New York City on June 11, both stunning successes.

“Thousands have now seen this important film.  It is imperative that we continue with screenings of the film in every school, church, synagogue and mosque in America,” said Peter Connors, Executive Director of Clarion.  “Education is the best way to fight the threat of radical Islam, and organizing a community screening of The Third Jihad is an easy and effective way to inform others about this clear and present crisis affecting the American public.”

The Third Jihad, which is narrated by Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, a devout Muslim, former physician to the U.S. Congress and founder and president of The American-Islamic Forum for Democracy, centers on the FBI discovery of a Grand Jihad Manifesto calling for “civilization jihadist process,” a cultural jihad to undermine the U.S. from within using non-violent strategies.  Dr. Jasser illustrates how this silent war has already begun in America and other Western countries.

Because DVD copies of the film are intended for personal viewing only, individuals interested in creating a screening event for more than 10 additional viewers should visit the film’s official website, www.TheThirdJihad.com, to purchase a ‘Screening Kit.’  The kit includes a copy of The Third Jihad, a moderator’s manual, and full-color movie posters.

“While screenings can be arranged for large groups, we encourage individuals to also consider screening the film in their homes and offices for close family and friends,” said Connors. “Intimate gatherings are an excellent way to communicate these important messages to the people you care about and provide them with the information they need to secure their rights and freedoms.”

The film features interviews with experts on radical Islam and American security specialists, including leading expert professor Bernard Lewis, former New York City mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, CIA Director R. James Woolsey, New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, as well as a first-hand account from a former terrorist.  All those interviewed agree that the spread of Islamic fundamentalism in America is a societal reality that cannot be ignored.

Help Pro-Freedom Iranians

22 06 2009

iran students protests in teheran dec 7 2008

ens of thousands of Iranians continue to defy their government over the weekend and today. At least 17 protesters have been killed in a week of unrest so far after the electoral council declared Jew-hater President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad winner of the June 12 election. His main challenger, Mir Hossein Mousavi, charged the election was a fraud and insists he is the true winner.

Iran’s real powerholders, the Guardian Council, admitted Sunday that the number of votes collected in 50 cities was more than the number of eligible voters. But the Iranian government has ordered reporters for foreign news agencies to stay in their offices, barring them from any reporting on the streets.

Today, I received this e-mail below, with information on how we can all help the brave Iranian dissidents.

…………………..

Hello All,

This is a mass distribution message. I would be happy if you could take a few minutes of your time to read it and pass on its message.

As you know, a large scale civil protest is taking place in Iran these last days, as the election results seem to have been blatantly forged by the
government, aiming to prevent the election of a reformist candidate running opposite Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Currently protests by students and others are taking place in Teheran and other cities throughout the country. These demonstrations are peaceful and non violent and actions taken by the demonstrators do not exceed throwing of stones.

The government, on the other hand has unleashed its infamous militia, the Basij, and the dreaded Revolutionary Guard, who are shooting with live ammunition at the protesters. So far, reports coming in speak of at
least 20 killed protestors, seven of which were murdered in Teheran
just yesterday.  The militia is also raiding student dormitories and universities and beating people and destroying everything in their path. Hundreds have been arrested and there reports of severe abuse of those detained and of people disappearing after having been taken in by the
authorities.

The established media is unable to follow the events in Iran. There is a complete ban of media coverage inside Iran. Foreign reporters are not allowed to report from the scene. The vast majority of information currently coming out of Iran is via blogs and internet services such as twitter, facebook, youtube and flickr.

We CAN help.

We are in a unique point in history in which the term Global Village has never been more relevant. We can for the first time actually do more than just watch what’s happening. We can actively help people who are
struggling for their freedom and for democracy and are under severe and brutal oppression, and we can do that with minimal effort. There are several ways:

1. Get updated on what’s going on. The conventional media is unable to provide a full picture of what is happening on the ground. Hook on directly to what is actually going on — on facebook, join groups such as
“protest to IranElection”,  and become a fan of Iran.

On twitter, follow the tags #IranElection, and #gr88

Blogs to check in on:

http://iran.twazzup.com/

http://shooresh1917.blogspot.com/

http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/

Also, search youtube and flickr using relevant search key words (Iran, elections, protest etc..)

2. Iranian authorities are monitoring Iranian twitter accounts in order to prevent Iranian citizens from getting information and footage of the current events to the outside world. Arrests are already taking place. You can help mask Iranian twitters by changing your account clock to Teheran time (gmt +3:30) in your account settings. This can confuse Iranian censorship and help protect the people over there.

3. Read this manual http://www.boingboing.net/2009/06/16/cyberwar-guide-for-i.html to find additional ways to help online.

4. If you posses high computer skill, use this guide: http://blog.austinheap.com/2009-for-windows/  to establish safeproxies for Iranians. (If you are Israeli , perhaps an Israeli proxy may do Iranian civilians more harm than good in the eyes of the government, so try to avoid this)

5. Although youtube and facebook are quite cooperative with the cause, videos are sometimes taken off the net, due to term violation issues (some of them are quite graphic).
Download  this FireFox  add-on: http://www.downloadhelper.net/install.php which will enable you to download and redistribute videos from youtube or facebook before they have been taken off. This way you can help distribute the information and keep it free and available.

6. If you are usingsoftware such as bittorrent, you can download videos from here and seed them, in order to keep them free. You can of course
upload them to youtube.

7. There are more ways. Follow the blogs and the twitts to see what more you can do.  Do everything responsibly. There are real people behind these blogs, in real danger.

8. Information must stay free. Republish photos, posts and videos in order to decentralize information and make it more difficult for censorship to block this.

9. In order to distribute this information to as many people as possible, it should be translated into a maximum number of languages. If you speak any language other than Hebrew and English or know anyone who does and would be willing to translate this document and distribute it to as many speakers of that language as possible, please do.

The situation in Iran is real and it is happening now. We can do more than nod our heads and feel sorry for them.  We have the means to help people who are struggling for their freedom in the face of severe and brutal oppression. These people are battling against fundamental dictatorship in their country. Their success can mark a change in the entire region. Please mute your cynicism as best you can, and do whatever you can and feel comfortable doing in order to help these people.

Please distribute this information in every format you see fit (facebook, email, blogs)

Thank you,

Elad

Drenched in blood of slavery

Posted: June 21, 2009
6:37 pm Eastern

Editor’s note: Roger Hedgecock’s show streams live on WND from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern and then again in the following three hours on tape.

The U.S. Senate voted unanimously last week to adopt a resolution apologizing for slavery.

Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, lead sponsor of the resolution, said, “You wonder why we didn’t do it 100 years ago. It is important to have a collective response to a collective injustice.”

Only after decades of public education ignoring and distorting U.S. history can such a huge lie be said with a straight face.

Senator, you didn’t do it 100 years ago because 100 years ago you Democrats were enforcing Jim Crow segregation laws, poll taxes to keep blacks from voting, and riding around in sheets and pointy hats just in case blacks didn’t get the message.

You say “It’s important to have a collective response” because you want to bury the origins, purposes, and historical practices of your own party.

The worst part is, Republicans in the Senate let you get away with it.

Principled Republicans knowing their history would have authored a resolution reciting the facts that the Republican Party was formed, among other reasons, to oppose slavery and that the Republican Party and its first President Abraham Lincoln responded to Southern, Democrat-led secession with a successful war that preserved the union and freed the slaves.

After Lincoln’s assassination (by a Democrat), the Republican-led Congress (over the objections of the Democratic Party minority) amended the Constitution to confirm the liberation of the slaves (13th Amendment: slavery abolished), and the 14th Amendment (freed slaves are citizens equal to all citizens) and the 15th Amendment (right to vote guaranteed to freed slaves).

Southern Democrats spent the next 100 years trying to keep freed slaves down with segregation laws, poll taxes to deny the right to vote, and lynching to enforce the social order. The KKK was formed by a Democrat; no Republican has ever been a member of the KKK. This is the heritage of the Democratic Party.

In fact, the Democratic Party was formed in the first place to defend and expand slavery.

In 1840, the very first national nominating convention of the Democratic Party adopted a platform which read in part:

Resolved, That Congress has no power … to interfere with or control the domestic institutions of the several states … that all efforts by abolitionists … made to induce Congress to interfere with questions of slavery … are calculated … to diminish the happiness of the people, and endanger the stability and permanency of the union.

Got that, Sen. Harkin? Your party was born defending slavery as necessary for the happiness of the people and threatening secession and war if slavery were challenged.

The same party platform language was used in 1844, 1848, 1852 and 1856. In 1860, the Democrat commitment to slavery took a harsher tone.

The Fugitive Slave Law was passed by Congress in 1850. This monstrous law provided that, since slaves were the personal property of their masters, runaway slaves must be returned to their owners. The law required all law enforcement officers to assist in the recapture of runaway slaves or risk a fine of $1,000 (about $100,000 in today’s dollars)!

The Republican Party was formed in the 1850s in part as a political reaction to this unjust law.

In their national convention of 1860, Democrats harshly responded to certain Northern (Republican) states that were passing state laws to evade the Fugitive Slave Law by adopting a plank in the Democratic Party Platform which read:

Resolved, That the enactments of the State Legislatures to defeat the faithful execution of the Fugitive Slave Law, are hostile in character, subversive of the Constitution, and revolutionary in their effect.

Senator, your Democratic Party has much to be apologetic about on the slavery issue.

During the civil war, the Southern Democrats led the Confederacy out of the Union; Northern Democrats formed a separate party which opposed the war. The 1864 (Northern) Democratic Party platform adopted a “peace” plank which read in part:

… after four years of failure to restore the union by the experiment of war … justice, humanity, liberty, and the public welfare demand … a cessation of hostilities … to the end that … peace may be restored …

Here is the origin of today’s Democratic Party “Peace at any Price, Better Red than Dead, Why Can’t we all just get Along” foreign policy.

The war was started by Democrat secessionists, and just as President Lincoln was on the verge of victory, the Northern Democrats wanted to save the South and slavery with “peace talks”! Voters knew better in 1864 and re-elected Lincoln.

But the Democrats weren’t through. In 1868, Sen. Harkin’s party condemned the Republican Party in its party platform as the “Radical Party,” and condemned Reconstruction in these unforgettable words:

Instead of restoring the Union, it (the Radical Party) has dissolved it, and subjected ten states (the former Confederate states) … to military despotism and negro supremacy.

And, senator, don’t tell me this is all ancient history in a lame attempt to evade the true origins of your party.

As recently as 1964, when the Senate debated the Civil Rights Act, Southern Democrats (including Al Gore’s father) voted no. While Northern Democrats voted yes, their votes were not enough. The deciding votes to pass this landmark bill were provided by Sen. Everett Dirksen, R-Ill., and the Republicans.

Republicans should be proud of their heritage of liberation of the slaves and civil rights voting record.

It’s Harkin and the Democrats who should apologize and pay reparations.

Lithuania Does What America Should

21 06 2009

Lithuania map

The United States of America may be too far gone in cultural corrosion. But America can serve as a negative role model for other countries. One country that is determined not to travel down the same road that America took is Lithuania.

The Republic of Lithuania is situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea in Northern Europe.

Slightly larger than West Virginia in total land area, Lithuania is the southernmost of the three Baltic states (the other two are Estonia and Latvia), which formerly were part of the Soviet Union. In 1990, all three broke free of Moscow and became independent.

Today, with a population of 3.6 million and a per capita ppp (purchasing power parity) GDP (gross domestic product) of $18,946, Lithuania is a member of NATO and of the European Union.

Lithuania flagLithuania Passes Law against Homosexual Propaganda in Schools, Media

June 18, 2009 – By Peter J. Smith

http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/jun/09061805.html

VILNIUS, Lithuania, June 18, 2009 – Lithuania’s parliament has given final approval to a law that bans the media and schools from promoting adverse behaviors to the development of young people, including the public promotion of violence, suicide, and homosexuality.

The Seimas, Lithuania’s parliamentary body, passed the law on Tuesday, which prohibits the dissemination of public information that is recognized in general to have a negative effect on the mental health, physical, intellectual, and moral development of youth. This includes the spreading of information that “agitates for homosexual, bisexual relations, or polygamy.”

The measure also bans “the portrayal of physical or psychological violence, displaying a dead or mutilated body, [and] information that arouses fear or horror or that encourages self abuse or suicide.”

However, the law lacks any serious sanctions for violators. Lawmakers had debated, but narrowly rejected on June 11 an amendment, which would have fined or imprisoned violators up to three years.

The legislation in its final version was passed with 67 parliamentarians voting in favor, three against, and four abstaining.

The ruling conservative coalition has backed the law as part of its continued efforts to strengthen and encourage the natural family.

The law must still have the approval of the President, who has ten days to authorize a veto after the bill is signed by Seimas Speaker Arunas Valinskas.

Amnesty International and activist homosexual groups condemned the bill, alleging it violates human rights, such as freedom of speech, and protection against discrimination.

Vladimir Simonko, chairman of the Lithuanian Gay League stated, “This is black Tuesday, institutionalized homophobia” adding that his organization will call upon the President, Valdas Adamkus, to veto the law.

However, MP Jaros³aw Narkiewicz, told the Polish Catholic daily, Nasz Dziennik, that he believed President Adamkus would sign the law.

“Members of parliament came to a conclusion, that behavior which has a destructive effect on children cannot be tolerated. The present situation in the media influenced that,” Narkiewicz said in an interview. “We see growing violence in the media, to which minors have access. We also see attempts to present homosexuality or bisexuality in a positive way, not only in entertainment programs or in talk shows, but also in educational shows. While the fact that these kinds of behaviors are against natural law and Christianity, is largely forgotten.”

Narkiewicz added that the law was not fully satisfactory to him since it lacked penalties that would discourage groups from violating the law. However he expected that the law would not go over with the European Union, which responds to the pressure exerted by homosexual groups.

MP Aleknaite-Abramkiene told the Baltic Times that lawmakers were not intent upon discrimination against homosexuals, but instead wanted to ensure peace in the community and respect for Lithuania’s family values.

“The public opinion is quite clear – they don’t want a demonstration of sexuality,” she said. “People want to live under their rules and let one another be himself, but not to intervene in public life and influence youth.”

“This law will create a democratic balance between the majority and the minority – we want peace.”

Lithuania and its neighbor Latvia have in the last several years become major targets of antagonizing propaganda and demonstrations from European homosexualists, who have staged or attempted to stage sexually provocative gay Pride parades in the capitals of Baltic nations.

Trolley bus drivers in the capital also went on strike in 2007 and refused to work until newly-placed pro-homosexual advertisements were removed from their buses.

In both 2007 and 2008, authorities of Vilnius and Kowno prohibited a “tolerance march” organized under the agency of the European Commission.

McCain: Obama has ‘done well’ as president so far

Sun Jun 21, 11:48 am ET

WASHINGTON – Sen. John McCain says his opponent in last year’s presidential campaign, Barack Obama, has “done well” in his first five months in the White House.

The Arizona Republican says that using a legislative scorecard to judge the presidency so far, Obama has achieved all his legislative goals.

On the down side, McCain says that Obama’s successes in Congress have come with little or no Republican support.

McCain also is critical of Obama for setting a date for closing the detainee facility at Guantanamo Bay without first developing a comprehensive plan for what to do with its prisoners.

And the Arizona senator says Obama should speak out more in support of protesters in Iran.

McCain appeared Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

Obama’s Media Lapdogs

20 06 2009

lapdogs

We already know the MainStreamMedia are heavily biased against conservatives and in favor of liberals. But it is still good to have actual figures and percentages.

Below is a summary of Media Research Center’s report on network coverage of Obama’s first 100 days. The complete report can be viewed here.

We really should start calling ABC’s Charles Gibson, NBC’s Brian Williams. and what’s-her-name on CBS, Obama’s lapdogs  — otherwise called “Bo”!

~Eowyn

UPDATE:

Obama even crowed about the MSM’s bias last night ( June 20), at the 65th Annual Radio and Television Correspondents Association Dinner, Obama openly acknowledged that mainstream journalists are to be credited with making him a celebrity and even joked that NBC news anchor Brian Williams is in bed with him. “Why bother hanging out with celebrities when I can spend time with the people who made me one? I know where my bread is buttered.” For an article about this, go here.

What arrogance!

Cheerleaders for the Revolution
Network Coverage of Barack Obama’s First 100 Days

During his first 100 days as President, Barack Obama has pushed an audaciously liberal agenda which, if enacted, would have radical consequences for America for decades. With Democrats enjoying monopoly control of the House and Senate, the news media have a professional duty to scrutinize those policies, and give audiences both sides of the story — not just the perspective of a powerful Chief Executive.

Unfortunately, a Media Research Center analysis of ABC, CBS and NBC evening news coverage of President Obama’s first 100 days in office shows network reporters have failed as watchdogs. The networks have raised few doubts about Obama’s left-wing agenda and showered each of Obama’s major policy initiatives with positive press.

MRC analysts looked at all 982 broadcast evening news stories about Obama and his administration from Inauguration Day (January 20) through April 29. Key findings:

  • Obama’s first 100 days were defined by massive spending, aggressive intervention in the private sector and proposals for a huge expansion of the federal government. Yet none of the networks aired a single story on whether Obama’s policies were pushing the U.S. toward socialism, and no reporter used the term “socialist” to describe Obama.
  • Not only that, network reporters never used the word “liberal” to describe either Barack Obama or his agenda during the first 100 days.
  • The networks lavished good press on every major initiative of the early Obama administration, including the massive stimulus package, all of the various bailouts, health care, stem cells, the environment and foreign policy.
  • In the days before the President unveiled his unprecedented $3.5 trillion budget — with a record-shattering $1.75 trillion deficit — four out of five statements on the evening newscasts parroted the White House spin that Obama was a deficit fighter.
  • Reporters treated Obama’s hugely expensive $787 billion stimulus bill to mainly positive coverage (58 percent positive, 42 percent negative).
  • The networks applauded Obama’s decision to use taxpayer money to fund embryo-destroying stem cell research (82% positive coverage).
  • Network coverage of Obama’s mortgage bailout was also positive — 59% of statements supported the bailout or wanted even more intervention, compared to 41% who opposed the bailout as unfair to responsible homeowners.
  • Reporters heavily skewed their coverage in favor of the President’s actions on global warming (78% positive).
  • President Obama’s decision to send thousands of additional troops to Afghanistan was greeted by nearly unanimous (91%) positive coverage — a far cry from the highly negative coverage of President Bush’s successful troop surge in Iraq two years ago.
  • Like Obama and the Democrats, the networks went on a feeding frenzy against big corporate bonuses. The networks aired six times more statements forwarding the “infuriated” reaction to business (104) than criticized politicians’ grandstanding (16).

The networks spent days decrying AIG’s $165 million bonuses, but hardly mentioned the $210 million in bonuses handed out by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the bailed-out mortgage giants with strong Democratic ties). ABC and NBC completely ignored the Fannie and Freddie bonuses, while the CBS Evening News gave it 27 seconds.

Such highly promotional coverage is not part of the normal “honeymoon” that exists between journalists and new Presidents. Rather, it seems to be a symptom of how few network reporters evidently see their professional role as operating on the public’s behalf as a check on whoever is in the White House.

The longstanding liberalism of network reporters made them aggressive adversaries of the Bush White House over the past eight years. The evidence from Barack Obama’s first 100 days is that that same liberal mindset has crippled reporters’ ability to be effective watchdogs on behalf of the public.

The once-fierce media watchdogs have become Barack Obama’s drooling, tail-wagging lapdogs.

Illegal Immigration – Thinking Out Loud

20 06 2009
Illegals jump border fence.

Illegals jump border fence.

I have no idea how many illegals have headed back across the border into Mexico since our economy has tanked, so it’s now even harder to put a number on how many of them are still here in the USA. This same time a year ago, the general wisdom was that we had somewhere around 12 million illegals in our country. Some said it was much higher, some said lower, I’m sticking with 12 million for now.

Next week, Obama will start discussing immigration. Hope I didn’t just ruin your weekend. Anyway, with him taking on this hot button issue next week, I thought I would think out loud and see what people think of my ideas. Their really not my ideas, they are ideas I have heard for many years that have allowed me to put my own recipe together. Before I get started I want to make a prediction… This is going to be one of those issues that could turn into an honest-to-goodness coast-to-coast firestorm, and it will be the one issue that gives Obama more trouble than any other. Take that to the bank!

Warning: You must read until the end.

Ok, here’s how we fix this problem. All illegals must register with the federal and state governments so we know who they are, and where they are. If they are not registered and they are picked up for other violations they get deported. If they want to become citizen they must pay a small fine. They must also learn English. And finally, they have to get in the back of the line behind those that are going through the process the correct (legal) way to become an American citizen. Almost forgot… they can continue to work and live and collect benefits and get free education and free services off the taxpayers back while they go through the process.

Well, what do you think of my idea? Yeah, I thought so. Ya see…. that’s Obama’s big plan!

There may be a few minor differences in what I wrote and what ends up being Obama’s plan, but what I wrote above is his plan in a nut-shell. Let me be the very first person, at least on my blog, to say that his big plan SUCKS big time!

I pray that my fellow citizens will come out on this issue as strongly as they did the last time they tried to sucker us into allowing millions of illegals become citizens. First of all, we have outrageous unemployment in different parts of the country and we need the jobs that illegals are doing for our own people. If we would start sending back illegals (starting today would work for me) there would be an awful lot of job openings for Americans and people could start putting food back on their family dinner table.

amnesty-700620

Here’s two quick examples. Not far from my home is one of the very few highway projects that the state (NC) is still going through with. This project is taking a two lane road and widening it to a four lane. It’s only about 12 miles long but it’s through some mountains here in the western part of the state, so if you know anything about building roads in mountainous terrainit’s a huge undertaking. I had the pleasure of driving that road during working hours the other day and I estimate that there were approximately 80 – 100 people working that job on-site. I also noticed that the vast majority of the workers, including heavy equipment operators, were Hispanic. I don’t know that they were illegals, but I would bet good money that most of them were/are. That’s an awful lot of good paying jobs that an American should be doing!

My 2nd example I actually noticed the day of all the Tea-Parties across the country. The one I attended was in downtown Asheville NC in front of the city and county court houses. There was once a large park in front of those buildings, but our dumb ass politicians thought it would be a good idea to spend millions of dollars ripping up the park and making that entire area into a concrete and polished marble Roman Colliseum of sorts. The politicians said the idea was to be able to have concerts, rallys, speeches, etc, with the new set-up and people could sit on expensive polished marble benches to enjoy the festivities. Keep in mind that you could do all that with the park the way it was because it had a stage, lighting, etc. With the park you could even bring a blanket and sit in the grass under some beautiful shade trees. I digress…… The entire area was under construction and the only way to get to the Tea-Party was to go around the cyclone fence that had been set-up around the perimeter. Because space was so limited, I ended up right next to the fence with my granddaughter. Not only did we get to be part of the rally, but we were also able to watch the construction workers do their job. My granddaughter said she counted 42 construction workers inside the fence, and I noticed that every one of them was Hispanic. Once again I had no way of knowing if they were legal, but as I said before, I’m a betting man.

So there are two large construction sites that are using almost all Hispanic workers, and these are not low paying jobs, especially the equipment operators on the first example. If we were to go around the country deporting illegals it would open opportunities for millions of Americans. This alone would solve the unemployment problem. Sure there would be people doing jobs other than what they went to school for, but they would be getting paid a fair wage, making an honest living, and feeding their families.

What Obama is going to propose is AMNESTY! I don’t care how he bullshits around this one, it’s going to be amnesty. If you want amnesty to rule the day in this country then by all means sit back and do NOTHING. If you want illegals out of our country only to come back through the legal process, then make sure the White House hears you LOUD and CLEAR next week.

Tell Obama NO TO AMNESTY!

And for all you liberal/progressives that think this has anything to do with being racist, you would be wrong! In fact, we invite people to sign the ” I Am Not A Racist ” pledge…

Stand-up and take the pledge.

Obama Ends Pro-Democracy Funding For Iran

19 06 2009

iran students protests in teheran dec 7 2008

This past week, Americans have watched the astonishing televised images of tens of thousands of Iranians demonstrate in the streets of Tehran against a rigged election. Reportedly, at least seven demonstrators were killed, and countless wounded. Throughout, the Obama administration has taken a noncommittal stance.

Today, Kenneth Timmerman of Newsmax reports that:

“the Obama administration…has zeroed out funding for pro-democracy programs inside Iran from the State Department budget for fiscal 2010, just as protests in Iran are ramping up.

Funding for pro-democracy programs began in 2004, when Congress earmarked $1.5 million of the State Department budget for ‘educational, humanitarian, and non-governmental organizations and individuals inside Iran to support the advancement of democracy and human rights in Iran.’

The funding ramped up dramatically two years later, when Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice requested $75 million for pro-democracy programs. More than half of the $66.1 million Congress finally appropriated went to expand U.S. government-funded Persian language broadcasting services at Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

But no money has been earmarked for such programs in the administration’s fiscal 2010 foreign operations budget request. Congressional sources told Newsmax they doubted that a Democrat-controlled Congress would add it when the budget comes before a committee next week.”

Doesn’t that just make you proud of our government?

EXCLUSIVE: Minn. lawmaker vows not to complete Census

By Stephen Dinan | Wednesday, June 17, 2009

http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jun/17/exclusive-minn-lawmaker-fears-census-abuse/

Outspoken Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann says she’s so worried that information from next year’s national census will be abused that she will refuse to fill out anything more than the number of people in her household.

In an interview Wednesday morning with The Washington Times “America’s Morning News,” Mrs. Bachmann, Minnesota Republican, said the questions have become “very intricate, very personal” and she also fears ACORN, the community organizing group that came under fire for its voter registration efforts last year, will be part of the Census Bureau’s door-to-door information collection efforts.

“I know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home,” she said. “We won’t be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.”

Shelly Lowe, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Census Bureau, said Mrs. Bachmann is “misreading” the law.

She sent a portion of the U.S. legal code that says anyone over 18 years of age who refuses to answer “any of the questions” on the census can be fined up to $5,000.

The Constitution requires a census be taken every 10 years. Questions range from number of persons in the household and racial information to employment status and whether anyone receives social services such as food stamps.

Mrs. Bachmann said she’s worried about the involvement of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, in next year’s census.

“They will be in charge of going door to door and collecting data from the American public,” she said. “This is very concerning.”

ACORN has applied to help recruit workers to help conduct the census. Republican lawmakers and some public interest groups have expressed concern over their involvement.

ACORN staffers have ben indicted in several states on charges of voter registration fraud stemming from the organization’s efforts to register voters last year.

Mrs. Bachmann, who is in her second term in the House, has become a lightning rod for criticism from Democrats and liberal talk show hosts for her unapologetic conservative views.

She said she considers that “a badge of honor.”

“It’s clear when a person speaks out against those policies they become a target, and that should be concerning to everyone,” she said.

Obama’s Far-Left Church in Honolulu

19 06 2009

Commie Obama

Is there anything about Hussein Obama’s background that does not reek of the far Left?

During the ’08 campaign, we knew of Obama’s many far-Left friends and associates, most notably:

  • William Ayers, unrepentant SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) terrorist who threw the first fund-raiser for Obama in his Chicago living room;
  • Rev. Wright, Obama’s pastor for 20 years in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago that subscribes to a Black Liberation theology;
  • Frank Marshall Davis, American Communist Party member whom Obama’s grandfather, Stanley Dunham, introduced to his then 11-year-old grandson to be his black mentor.

Now, Andrew Walden of the Hawaii Free Press reports that Obama’s church and Sunday school in Hawaii is also far Left.

At a time when John McCain was being tortured as a prisoner of war in Hanoi, First Unitarian Church of Honolulu — at which the elementary-age Obama would later attend Sunday school after returning from Indonesia in 1970/71 — was sheltering Vietnam War deserters and AWOLs recruited by “flirty fishing” coeds from an SDS group known as “The Resistance.”

But this information was withheld from American voters during the ’08 campaign.
