God Have Mercy On Us

I’m not shocked by much anymore thanks to the left always higgins35025_2pushing the boundaries of what’s acceptable by moral people. This one however is different. The idea that this pastor would even be arrested for what he was doing is mind boggling. Warning… short rant coming!

Let’s say your house is on fire. You barely escape with your life, but suddenly you realized you left your baby in the house. A Fireman over-hears you and grabs your arm saying “don’t worry I’ll get your baby” and he rushes into the burning inferno to save your childs life. What do you do now?

A. Do you let him go and say a prayer for both he and your child.

B. Ask that the Fireman be arrested?

Now read below and you will understand.

Pro-life pastor prepares for sentencing
Charlie Butts – OneNewsNow – 2/15/2009 4:10:00 AM

An Oakland, California, pastor could face jail time for expressing his pro-life views.

Pastor Walter Hoye ran into trouble with an abortion clinic while doing an informational picket. Dennis Howard, leader of The Movement for a Better America, believes Hoye is innocent.

“His approach was simply to carry a sign that said ‘Jesus Loves You. Can We Help?’ and offering those who wanted it some information about alternatives to abortion,” Howard explains.

A complaint was filed and Hoye was found guilty in spite of proof to the contrary. “There was a video taken of him doing this, and it shows that he was not harassing anybody,” Howard points out. “In fact, he was being harassed by escorts from the abortion clinic.”

Pastor Hoye faces up to two years in jail and a $4,000 fine. Howard is calling Christians into action. “We feel that pro-life organizations around the country ought to take up this man’s cause and pray and fast between now and February 19,” he concludes.

That is when Hoye is due to be sentenced.

I have read this twice as well as the article at the link you provided. I am at a loss. What, exactly did this man do that warrants his arrest? I don’t see it. Is there some Oakland law that makes it illegal to protest an abortion clinic? Are they saying that he harassed or assaulted someone? I live in the Peoples Republic of California…but as far as I know, it is still relatively safe to exercise the 1st amendment. Some jurisdictions require a permit to assemble in number above 30 etc. but it seems that this would not have even applied in this case. What did he do?

Unbelievable..he demonstrated “force, threat of force, or physical obstruction”? We are seeing our rights stripped before our very eyes through predetermined “perceptions” of those who do not tolerate different opinions.

As a woman, I have never understood how they support abortion as a “woman’s right”. You have the right to keep your legs crossed for Pete’s sake (in most cases)! But a baby is a blessing, not my right to choose to kill.

Boo,

This is what I found:

The restraining order was originally sought by the Oakland District Attorney as part of prosecuting Mr. Hoye for allegedly intimidating escorts. Local officials have targeted Mr. Hoye for prosecution because he has stood on the public sidewalk in front of an abortion clinic holding a sign that read “Jesus Loves You and Your Baby. Can We Help You?” No clinic patient has filed any complaint with the police regarding Mr. Hoye. However, it is alleged by the District Attorney that Mr. Hoye’s sign, as well as his presence at the Oakland abortion clinic, is unlawful and intimidating to escorts….”

So check me if I’m wrong….He has, in the past, done the same thing so there was a restraining order filed. He went back this time and was arrested for the violation of the restraining order? Well, I was not there so I cannot speak to circumstance but it seems to me that if he was careful not to step onto private property during the previous “protests”, that the restraining order was actually a violation of HIS 1st Amendment rights and the arrest based upon the unconstitutional order could be considered a violation of HIS 4th. I’m sure the liberal 9th Circuit will uphold whatever happens but I would not be surprised to see this one looked at by SCOTUS.

Boo,

Forget the 9th circuit. They have made a pact with the devil a looooong time ago.

Gio,

Sadly, you are correct.

I find it odd that all of the Muslim protesters (disguised as protests for Palestinians and the Hamas) throughout the U.S. in the past two months or so were never persecuted like this one person who seems to actually want to help people from killing for no reason.

Eowyn, I hope where you live is worth the hell of being close to those nutcases. Of course, I’m in Illinois so I’m surrounded by the Nation’s Worst Political Crooks and the nutcases who voted them into office.

Dok,

I’m living in the Belly of the Beast not because it’s my choice. Hubby refuses to move elsewhere. Believe me, when I can, I’ll be out of here! – to a lower-tax state. California is increasingly dysfunctional, although the Rabid Left is still in denial.

Dave,

I’m afraid you’re right. Can’t you see Mount Doom belching smoke and fire? And so it begins….

Dave,

You sound as optomistic as I am. On a scale from 0 – 10, with 10 being top notch superb, I’m right at a minus 2.

If the left truly wants to start a culture war within the USA, they have found an issue that just might do it. What they don’t realize is…. when things get ugly, we will be pulling out quite an arsenal.

Gio,

Well, after today, I am about at a -6.

Aside from all the rest of the BS going on right now, which is bad enough, I think persecution of Christians in this country is building up steam, and that right quickly.

We all know why, but still…
