“President Obama’s actions today will restore the moral authority and strengthen the national security of the United States. It is vital to the safety of our men and women in uniform that the United States never sanction the use of interrogation methods that we would find unacceptable if inflicted by an enemy against captured Americans.

We commend President Obama for acting quickly through these executive orders to enforce a single standard of humane treatment for all U.S. intelligence interrogations. As Commander in Chief, he has provided clarity throughout the military chain of command.

By unequivocally rejecting torture and other cruel and inhumane treatment, shutting down secret prisons, providing Red Cross access to prisoners in U.S. custody, rejecting the legal opinions that facilitated and excused torture, and announcing the closure of the Guantanamo Bay prison, President Obama has rejected the false choice between national security and our ideals. Our Nation will be stronger and safer for it.”

THE PARAGRAPH ABOVE IN IT’S ENTIRETY IS BULLSHIT! I WILL EXPLAIN AT A LATER DATE.

The Obama presidency: Here comes socialism
By Dick Morris
Posted: 01/20/09 06:12 PM [ET]
2009-2010 will rank with 1913-14, 1933-36, 1964-65 and 1981-82 as years that will permanently change our government, politics and lives. Just as the stars were aligned for Wilson, Roosevelt, Johnson and Reagan, they are aligned for Obama. Simply put, we enter his administration as free-enterprise, market-dominated, laissez-faire America. We will shortly become like Germany, France, the United Kingdom, or Sweden — a socialist democracy in which the government dominates the economy, determines private-sector priorities and offers a vastly expanded range of services to many more people at much higher taxes.Obama will accomplish his agenda of “reform” under the rubric of “recovery.” Using the electoral mandate bestowed on a Democratic Congress by restless voters and the economic power given his administration by terrified Americans, he will change our country fundamentally in the name of lifting the depression. His stimulus packages won’t do much to shorten the downturn — although they will make it less painful — but they will do a great deal to change our nation.

In implementing his agenda, Barack Obama will emulate the example of Franklin D. Roosevelt. (Not the liberal mythology of the New Deal, but the actuality of what it accomplished.) When FDR took office, he was enormously successful in averting a total collapse of the banking system and the economy. But his New Deal measures only succeeded in lowering the unemployment rate from 23 percent in 1933, when he took office, to 13 percent in the summer of 1937. It never went lower. And his policies of over-regulation generated such business uncertainty that they triggered a second-term recession. Unemployment in 1938 rose to 17 percent and, in 1940, on the verge of the war-driven recovery, stood at 15 percent. (These data and the real story of Hoover’s and Roosevelt’s missteps, uncolored by ideology, are available in The Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes, copyright 2007.)
But in the name of a largely unsuccessful effort to end the Depression, Roosevelt passed crucial and permanent reforms that have dominated our lives ever since, including Social Security, the creation of the Securities and Exchange Commission, unionization under the Wagner Act, the federal minimum wage and a host of other fundamental changes.

Obama’s record will be similar, although less wise and more destructive. He will begin by passing every program for which liberals have lusted for decades, from alternative-energy sources to school renovations, infrastructure repairs and technology enhancements. These are all good programs, but they normally would be stretched out for years. But freed of any constraint on the deficit — indeed, empowered by a mandate to raise it as high as possible — Obama will do them all rather quickly.

But it is not his spending that will transform our political system, it is his tax and welfare policies. In the name of short-term stimulus, he will give every American family (who makes less than $200,000) a welfare check of $1,000 euphemistically called a refundable tax credit. And he will so sharply cut taxes on the middle class and the poor that the number of Americans who pay no federal income tax will rise from the current one-third of all households to more than half. In the process, he will create a permanent electoral majority that does not pay taxes, but counts on ever-expanding welfare checks from the government. The dependency on the dole, formerly limited in pre-Clinton days to 14 million women and children on Aid to Families with Dependent Children, will now grow to a clear majority of the American population.

Will he raise taxes? Why should he? With a congressional mandate to run the deficit up as high as need be, there is no reason to raise taxes now and risk aggravating the depression. Instead, Obama will follow the opposite of the Reagan strategy. Reagan cut taxes and increased the deficit so that liberals could not increase spending. Obama will raise spending and increase the deficit so that conservatives cannot cut taxes. And, when the economy is restored, he will raise taxes with impunity, since the only people who will have to pay them would be rich Republicans.

In the name of stabilizing the banking system, Obama will nationalize it. Using Troubled Asset Relief Program funds to write generous checks to needy financial institutions, his administration will demand preferred stock in exchange. Preferred stock gets dividends before common stockholders do. With the massive debt these companies will owe to the government, they will only be able to afford dividends for preferred stockholders — the government, not private investors. So who will buy common stock? And the government will demand that its bills be paid before any profits that might materialize are reinvested in the financial institution, so how will the value of the stocks ever grow? Devoid of private investors, these institutions will fall ever more under government control.

Obama will begin the process by limiting executive compensation. Then he will urge restructuring and lowering of home mortgages in danger of default (as the feds have already done with Citibank).

Then will come guidance on the loans to make and government instructions on the types of enterprises to favor. God grant that some Blagojevich type is not in charge of the program, using his power to line his pockets. The United States will find itself with an economic system comparable to that of Japan, where the all-powerful bureaucracy at MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) manages the economy, often making mistakes like giving mainframe computers priority over the development of laptops.

But it is the healthcare system that will experience the most dramatic and traumatic of changes. The current debate between erecting a Medicare-like governmental single payer or channeling coverage through private insurance misses the essential point. Without a lot more doctors, nurses, clinics, equipment and hospital beds, health resources will be strained to the breaking point. The people and equipment that now serve 250 million Americans and largely neglect all but the emergency needs of the other 50 million will now have to serve everyone. And, as government imposes ever more Draconian price controls and income limits on doctors, the supply of practitioners and equipment will decline as the demand escalates. Price increases will be out of the question, so the government will impose healthcare rationing, denying the older and sicker among us the care they need and even barring them from paying for it themselves. (Rationing based on income and price will be seen as immoral.)

And Obama will move to change permanently the partisan balance in America. He will move quickly to legalize all those who have been in America for five years, albeit illegally, and to smooth their paths to citizenship and voting. He will weaken border controls in an attempt to hike the Latino vote as high as he can in order to make red states like Texas into blue states like California. By the time he is finished, Latinos and African-Americans will cast a combined 30 percent of the vote. If they go by top-heavy margins for the Democrats, as they did in 2008, it will assure Democratic domination (until they move up the economic ladder and become good Republicans).

And he will enact the check-off card system for determining labor union representation, repealing the secret ballot in union elections. The result will be to raise the proportion of the labor force in unions up to the high teens from the current level of about 12 percent.

Finally, he will use the expansive powers of the Federal Communications Commission to impose “local” control and ownership of radio stations and to impose the “fairness doctrine” on talk radio. The effect will be to drive talk radio to the Internet, fundamentally change its economics, and retard its growth for years hence.

But none of these changes will cure the depression. It will end when the private sector works through the high debt levels that triggered the collapse in the first place. And, then, the large stimulus package deficits will likely lead to rapid inflation, probably necessitating a second recession to cure it.

So Obama’s name will be mud by 2012 and probably by 2010 as well. And the Republican Party will make big gains and regain much of its lost power.

But it will be too late to reverse the socialism of much of the economy, the demographic change in the electorate, the rationing of healthcare by the government, the surge of unionization and the crippling of talk radio.

Obama’s Racist Advisors

22 01 2009

Earlier this month, January 7,  Robert Reich participated in a

Little man with big dumb ideas for an Obama era.

Little man with big dumb ideas for an Obama era.

House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee meeting attended by high-ranking Democrats including Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

His comments are worrisome (not all comments copied) throughout, but he manages to show either his stupidity, or Obama’s new way of doing things. See last line… (bold emphasis mine)

“Now certainly not in my lifetime or I expect in any of your lifetimes, have we seen an economic crisis of this sort, demanding this kind of rapid — and I want to emphasize rapid — government response….

…my estimate is very similar to Dr. Zandi’s. I believe that if government does not respond to the tune of — and I would actually recommend a stimulus slightly higher. My calculations are that we are losing aggregate demand, in terms of percentage of GDP, that amounts to about six and a half to seven percent of GDP. And therefore, the stimulus package needs to be in the order of $900 billion over two years…

…Now let me say something about infrastructure. It seems to me that infrastructure spending is a very important and good way of stimulating the economy. The challenge will be to do it quickly, to find projects that can be done that have a high social return that also can be done with the greatest speed possible…

…am concerned, as I’m sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high skilled people who are already professions or to white male construction workers. I have nothing against white male construction workers. I’m just saying that there are a lot of other people who have needs as well. And therefore, in my remarks I have suggested to you, and I’m certainly happy to talk about it more, ways in which the money can be — criteria can be set so that they money does go to others: the long term unemployed, minorities, women, people who are not necessarily construction workers or high-skilled professionals.”[end]

———————

If any of you can make sense of his comments, then maybe it’s time for you to re-read some good Conservative literature. One of my favorites for a quick read is… “The March Of Freedom” Modern Classics in Conservative Thought.

And while you are at it, explain to me what the “F” is wrong with White Construction workers???

I have to thank fellow blogger ‘upcountrywater’ over at NewsBusters for this video link.

Venezuela started it’s road to wonderful Socialist bliss in 1998 after electing the man that promised great and wonderful things to his people. This could very well be what Rev, Wright envisions when he says “G-damn America!”

BREAKING: Bush Pardons Osama bin Laden

January, 2009 at 10:55 PM

WASHINGTON, DC: “In a stunning late-hour development, President George W. Bush has granted Osama bin Laden a pardon for the murder of more than 2,700 Americans in the fall of 2001.

“This kinda came out of nowhere,” said a White House aide who requested anonymity. “I wouldn’t have put bin Laden on the short list myself. On the other hand, maybe this is the president’s way of finding closure. Because … y’know … he wasn’t actually able to kill bin Laden,…blah, blah, blah, blah(edit by me)…”

Some of the brain dead liberals actually fell for this. These comments will stun you…

“I just can’t stand the thought of him doing that!

I say end the wars in Iraq and Afganistan ,there is no need to keep chacing a villian made up by Bush and Cheney any more.

Can’t wait to read this reasoned out in the history books someday.

Right after Obama was sworn in yesterday, I would have liked to hear him say, “arrest those men” (bush/cheney in wheel chair).

I have my doubts that this story is true, but if it is it makes some sense. Bush and Bin Laden are co-conspirators in the controlled demolition that defined 9-11. All the evidence points to a false flag operation. The American people need to wake up.

If we were lied to about Iraq, who’s to say we were not lied to about 9/11?

He himself has suggested his group is responsible. Sounds like a confession to me.

maybe he is already deceased and GW knew that. So he is closing the chapter.

Let’s truly give peace a chance. This kind of gesture to me is just what the doctor ordered for 2009.”

How to Stump Anti-Abortionists With One Question
January 21, 2009 by Daniel Florien

Just ask them this:

If abortion was illegal, what should be done with the women who have illegal abortions?

Now watch their faces as the cognitive dissonance sets in. They believe abortion to be murder. Murder deserves severe punishment. Thus, women who have illegal abortions should receive severe punishment — like life in prison or the death penalty. That’s the logical conclusion.

But they can’t accept this conclusion. They know it’s absurd and unfair — which means they know abortion is not really murder.

You can reach him here.

————————

On his website he claims that he was once a devout believer, and then he had an epiphany or something, none of which I believe.

So here’s my take on it… He was able to find a couple of people that he asked this question of, that had never thought of this possibility before. Fair enough. I’m betting he also met a few that COULD answer this question but he decided NOT to include those people in his little experiment.

As for me, I would simply say… “whatever our lawmakers in each state agreed, voted, and passed into law would be the punishment”. And most clear-headed people know that abortion is murder. I do NOT accept his conclusion.

White House Web Site Becomes Pro-Abortion After Obama Takeover
by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
January 20, 2009
http://www.lifenews.com/nat4763.html

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — In less than five minutes after Barack Obama took over as the next president, the White House web site changed from pro-life to pro-abortion. The previous site, which touted the pro-life proclamation President Bush signed late last week, now includes Obama’s agenda for women, which calls for promoting abortion.

Gone is any mention of the Sanctity of Human Life Day or the speeches or actions of President Bush’s that promoted human life. Now, in the same color scheme and format as the Bush site, there is a celebration of Obama’s agenda.

According to a web site search of WhiteHouse.gov, the only page on the official governmental site to mention abortion is a page detailing what Obama will do to promote the interests of women.

Though abortions cause women a myriad of medical and mental health problems, Obama states his clear intent, in a section entitled “reproductive choice,” to make abortions even more available.

“President Obama understands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him. However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women’s rights under Roe v. Wade a priority in his Adminstration [sic],” the Obama White House site says.

“He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision in that case,” it adds.

The White House page also touts Obama’s backing for the Prevention First Act.

Billed as a measure to provide more funding for family planning and contraception, pro-life advocates oppose it because it sends millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business that does 25 percent of the abortions across the country.

The Obama White House site also promotes the new president’s view that Americans should be forced to pay for embryonic stem cell research, which involves the destruction of human life and has never helped a single patient.

The web site comes across as a false claim that government has not supported stem cell research in general, even though President Bush spent hundreds of millions of dollars promoting the use of adult stem cells — the only kind to help any patients.

“President Obama and Vice President Biden believe that we owe it to the American public to explore the potential of stem cells to treat the millions of people suffering from debilitating and life-threatening diseases,” the White House site says.

“Obama is a co-sponsor of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2007, which will allow research of human embryonic stem cells derived from embryos donated (with consent) from in vitro fertilization clinics. These embryos must be deemed in excess and created based solely for the purpose of fertility treatment,” it adds.

However, not all leftover embryos are deemed to be in excess as hundreds of babies have been born through the embryo adoption programs that exist nationwide.

This truly saddens me.

Is GOP still a national party?gop_elephant_dead

As President Barack Obama delivers his inaugural address to a nation filled with anticipation and hope, the vital signs of the loyal opposition appear worse than worrisome.

The new majority of 49 states and 60 percent of the nation Nixon cobbled together in 1972, that became the Reagan coalition of 49 states and 60 percent of the nation in 1984, is a faded memory. Demographically, philosophically and culturally, the party base has been shrinking since Bush I won his 40-state triumph over Michael Dukakis. Indeed, the Republican base is rapidly becoming a redoubt, a Fort Apache in Indian country.

In the National Journal, Ron Brownstein renders a grim prognosis of the party’s chances of recapturing the White House. Consider:

In the five successive presidential elections, beginning with Clinton’s victory in 1992 and ending with Obama’s in 2008, 18 states and the District of Columbia, with 248 electoral votes among them, voted for the Democratic ticket all five times. John McCaindid not come within 10 points of Obama in any of the 18, and he lost D.C. 92-8.

The 18 cover all of New England, save New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland; four of the major states in the Midwest Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota; and the Pacific Coast states of California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii.

Three other states  Iowa, New Hampshire and New Mexico  have gone Democratic in four of the past five presidential contests. And Virginia and Colorado have ceased to be reliably red.

Not only are the 18 hostile terrain for any GOP presidential ticket, Republicans hold only three of their 36 Senate seats and fewer than 1 in 3 of their House seats. “Democrats also control two-thirds of these 18 governorships, every state House chamber, and all but two of the state Senates,” writes Brownstein.

In many of the 18, the GOP has ceased to be competitive. In the New England states, for example, there is not a single Republican congressman. In New York, there are only three.

“State by state, election by election,” says Brownstein, “Democrats since 1992 have constructed the party’s largest and most durable Electoral College base in more than half a century. Call it the blue wall.”

While that Democratic base is not yet as decisive as the Nixon-Reagan base in the South, and the Plains and Mountain States, it is becoming so solidified it may block any Republican from regaining the White House, in the absence of a catastrophically failed Democratic president.

What does the Republican base look like?

In the same five presidential contests, from 1992 to 2008, Republicans won 13 states all five times. But the red 13 have but 93 electoral votes, fewer than a third of the number in “the blue wall.”

What has been happening to the GOP? Three fatal contractions.

Demographically, the GOP is a party of white Americans, who in 1972 were perhaps 90 percent of the national vote. Nixon and Reagan rolled up almost two-thirds of that vote in 1972 and 1984. But because of abortion and aging, the white vote is shrinking as a share of the national vote and the population.

The minorities that are growing most rapidly, Hispanics and Asians, cast 60 to 70 percent of their presidential votes for the Democratic Party. Black Americans vote 9-1 for national Democrats. In 2008, they went 30-1.

Put succinctly, the red pool of voters is aging, shrinking and dying, while the blue pool, fed by high immigration and a high birth rate among immigrants, is steadily expanding.

Philosophically, too, the country is turning away from the GOP creed of small government and low taxes. Why?

Nearly 90 percent of immigrants, legal and illegal, are Third World poor or working-class and believe in and rely on government for help with health and housing, education and welfare. Second, tax cuts have dropped nearly 40 percent of wage earners from the tax rolls.

If one pays no federal income tax but reaps a cornucopia of benefits, it makes no sense to vote for the party of less government.

The GOP is overrepresented among the taxpaying class, while the Democratic Party is overrepresented among tax consumers. And the latter are growing at a faster rate than the former.

Lastly, Democrats are capturing a rising share of the young and college-educated, who are emerging from schools and colleges where the values of the counterculture on issues from abortion to same-sex marriage to affirmative action have become the new orthodoxy.

The Republican “lock” on the presidency, crafted by Nixon, and patented by Reagan, has been picked. The only lingering question is whether an era of inexorable Republican decline has set in.[end]

Hi Gang,

After considering what I asked from my readers yesterday in this post… Giovanni Wants Help, I realized that some of you are very productive and could end up overwhelming me with info. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing considering we want to keep a detailed record of Obama’s actions in his capacity as POTUS, CIC, or any other role he may fill.

However, just because some of you can be productive, does not necessarily mean that I can keep up. So here’s my proposal.

“Those that would like to help, will be given access to the editing functions of this blog by me. Here are the 4 choices WordPress allows…

Administrator

Editor

Author

Contributor

Actually, there are only 3 choices for everyone else because I will maintain the only position as Administrator.

Volunteers will be given access via one of those catagories. I will change and delete the “Music” page. Then use that page as a generic “Obama File” page. Anyone that wants to add an article, or something they may have found that relates to actions, or proposed actions, by the Obama administration can simply leave the link and a short headline or summary.

Jen left a good one today on one of the threads. She did not leave a headline, but it would simply work like this…”

Obama and special rights for LGBT http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/civil_rights/

Those that volunteer must agree that the “Obama File” page is the only page they will post or edit on.

If I could get some people to help with at least keeping up with all the changes that is sure to come, then I will have some time to take the info and put it into some sense of order.

To some, this little operation may seem trite and useless, not me. If we are going to keep an eye on our freedoms and our liberty during an Obama administration, we must keep a well documented record.

Your thoughts?

Giovanni Wants Help

20 01 2009

Tomorrow afternoon starts the beginning of a brand new obama_hypeadministration. One that will need to be monitored on a daily basis, and at times, an hourly basis.

Here at Giovanni’s World, we plan to track Obama’s mistakes from day one, and to be critical of his blunders as often as is deemed necessary. And this my friends is where you come in.

I would appreciate any feed-back from my readers as to the most efficient way I can go about tracking his blunders. Any and all ideas will be considered, and I will accept any help from those that offer it. So please, put on your thinking caps and give me suggestions as to the best way of going about this.

With any luck, GioWorld can become ‘the’ depository of info for the first Black foreigner to ever become president of the USA.

Thanks and God Bless America!

Thank You President Bush

20 01 2009

Dear Mr. President, american-flag-2a_edited1

I want to take this moment to thank you for all that you have done for this great Nation over the past 8 years. Although there have been times that I have disagreed with you on policy matters, I have always known that you meant well and are a good man.

There are three items in particular that I would like to personally thank you for. I know there are many good deeds you did, and will be remembered for as president, however these three items are special to me.

1. Keeping us safe after we were attacked on 9/11 by any method deemed legal and do-able.

2. For commuting the sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.

3. Taking the fight to the terrorists.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

In closing, I wish nothing but the best for you and the first lady in your retirement. Enjoy the rest, and time off, you earned it!

I salute you George Walker Bush!

Copied from the Atlantic Magazine Online: Outside of conservative talk radio, Lou Dobbs and Fox News, the media has given little coverage to the crimes committed by two Border Patrol agents, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. So they’ve scrambled to get the details on the story today, as President Bush commuted their sentences.

Trick Question Or Trick Article

19 01 2009

This piece of trash showed up today in the NYT’s, and then melting-earth-rl2picked up by some of the liberal blogs. Here’s the deal… there is a clue to this article as to how they try to trick the reader. What I’m talking about is in the first 3 paragraphs, but left the link in case you want to read the rest. So can you tell me where sleight of hand was used?

Middle Atlantic States Threatened By Sea Level Rise

Sea level rise fueled by global warming threatens the barrier islands and coastal wetlands of the Middle Atlantic States, a federal report warned on Friday.

The report, issued by the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States Geological Survey and other agencies, is one of a series examining the potential effects of a rising sea level on the nation’s coasts.

The rise in sea level is accelerating, the report said, because warmer water occupies more space and because of runoff from melting inland glaciers and ice sheets. The Middle Atlantic States are particularly vulnerable because the rates of rise are “moderately high” there, the region is subject to storms, it is densely populated and much of its infrastructure is in low-lying areas.
