Border Security Get’s Smart – ACLU Hates It

23 10 2008

This is getting ridiculous. Watch the following video (it’s a short one) and give me your immediate reaction… Story continues below video.

Below is the article that is making the rounds on the Internet today. The above video is just a part of the presentation, so keep reading…

By Barry Steinhardt, Director, ACLU Technology & Liberty Program

“You’re driving along a remote, dusty road, when suddenly you come upon a border patrol checkpoint. There, agents demand to see your identity papers, and search your car. You are taken by surprise, because you know you haven’t wandered across the Texas-Mexico border. In fact, you’re quite sure of that, because you’re driving through rural Wisconsin countryside west of Green Bay. Even the Canadian border is more than 90 miles away.

ACLU’s diary :: ::
This scene is not as far-fetched as you might want to believe. The government is turning vast swaths of our country into a “Constitution-Free Zone” in which U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is allowed to exercise extraordinary authority that would not normally be permitted under the Constitution. The government says that “the border” — where there is a longstanding view that the Constitution does not fully apply — actually stretches 100 miles inland from the nation’s “external boundary.” And increasingly, we are seeing DHS vigorously utilize that authority.”

Ok, now that you have heard from the anti-American ACLU point of view, now it’s time to listen to reason and logic. As an American that worries about terrorists and illegals sneaking into our country, I think this is a fantastic idea!

There are many places on our border that are very difficult to station a border guard at. Unfortunately, there are literally millions of places for people to sneak across our borders. I actually know where some of these places are, but unlike some morons, I’m not going to publicly announce where they are. Anyway, let me continue on to why this is such a great idea… Many of those that sneak into our country are not completely stupid, so they cross at a very secretive spot on our border and avoid our main highways until they are deep into U.S. territory. Once they think they have gone around our border patrol they then use our roads and highways at will, and then melt into the population. By allowing the border patrol to set up a secondary checkpoint deeper into U.S. soil, they stand a better chance of catching those that went around the first line of defense, at our borders.

As far as I’m concerned the ACLU can go to hell. I’m encouraged to see our border patrol, in concert with homeland security, using their brains to keep us safe. Oh, and about that guy in the video… he’s just another moron helping our enemies by posting what amounts to a training video for bad guys. [end]

Sorry Gio I think I stomached less then a minute of this garbage before stopping the vid. The ACLU has been nothing but a cancer on America since its inception who go out of their way to protect the lowest of life forms.

Hi Will,

Glad to see you back on the board.

Yeah, the vid is pretty lame, but you know liberals. Did you read why they have a problem with this? It seems as if the ACLU never heard of a second line of defense, or in Football terms, you don’t just defend the line of scrimmage. The libs may hate it, but I think it’s a brilliant idea. I also love how cool the border patrol guy was. If it had been me I probably would have yanked him out of his car and then accidently dropped his camera really hard.

Unfortuantely, thanks to this jerk making the video, even the bad guys know what we are up to now.

It’s all good Gio because for everyone that is cheering this POS there are more that is denouncing it and in the end the majority of Americans will always and forever see the ACLU and every other left wing nut job as “left wing nut jobs.”

I will be a bit biased in my opinion of the guy in the video, for a couple reasons. First, all they do is ask your country of birth. If you reply U.S.A. or America, the officer will say something to the effect of “Have a nice day”, and wave you on. Every time I have gone through one, that is exactly what happened.
Second reason is that the stop is both directions and the Border Patrol stopped MY truck after it had been stolen by a couple guys just being upstanding additions to my community and doing the work American will not do {like take my truck to Mexico?}.
One guy being a jerk does not change policy {I hope}. If he realy believed the stuff coming out of his mouth, he would try that crap getting on a domestic commercial flight

I am amazed that the agent released that idiot without making him state his citizenship! The agent would have been totally in line by demanding ( not asking) the driver to go to secondary to further his interview. Most likely Agent Gonzalez was intimidated by the presence to the camcorder. Its obvious the agent wasn’t sure why he was assigned to perform his duties at the point, or if he knew that he had the right to get the answer he was asking.

But my purpose in writing here isn’t to get down on Agent Gonzalez. The driver is a perfect example of asshole Americans who need to move to Iran or even better, Mexico, and talk like that at a checkpoint there. Before the camcorder was busted into a hundred pieces, his face would have been pounded into the blacktop. But in this case, he ran into an agent with little time in the patrol and got away being an asshole.

Actually Mexico does exactly the same thing on their side of US border, at least they did some 20 years when I traveled from Texas to Mexico via car. I believe it was about 50 miles in where they had a border check point, requiring to you to show the exact same papers as at the border itself.

Well duh. Illegal immigrants and Terrorists only go through government approved checkpoints. Why would you check anywhere else?
