A Feminist Cat Fight Over Sarah Palin

Ok ladies, this is for you….

I came across a piece written by Rebecca Walker over at one the large liberal blogs last night and came away confused. Not by what she wrote, but by the reaction to what she wrote. Rebecca writes about issues that are important to Feminists and is well respected in this arena. However, last night she was not very popular. She had the nerve to write about Sarah Palin in a positive way, and is now being crucified for it.

The comments below are not about how other women chewed out Rebecca for her defense of Sarah Palin, they are more of what feminists have to say about Sarah. Some of the comments are just plain mean, while others make zero sense, especially when you consider that Sarah Palin is everything women have been fighting for, for the last 40 years, and longer.

This is the point where I usually say “Enjoy”, but this time I think it will just make some of you mad. So let’s start this one off with ‘Enjoy, if you can’…

I have searched high and low, and cannot find anywhere that Gov. Palin made the above statement.

Uh, so what if it was Bristol’s choice? Is the above poster upset that Bristol chose life? I hope not.

The above post is just plain dumb! If this is what McCain wanted in a VP choice, he would have chosen a really smart Dog.

“When Sara Palin says she believes women have the right to CHOOSE to use CONTROCEPTIVES to PREVENT an unwanted pregnancy, and the right to take the Morning After Pill after she has been RAPED to prevent a pregnancy, and that a females who have been RAPED, should not have to pay for the RAPE KIT used in the criminal investigation of the RAPE, themselves, and females have the right CHOOSE to terminate an unwanted pregnancy as well as NOT terminate a pregnancy…then I will say that Sara Palin understands the fight for women’s Rights. When Sara Palin say she does NOT want to replace our CONSTITUTION with her particular RELIGIOUS beliefs…then I will say Sara Palin understands the principles of our DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC under our Constitution. When Sara Palin stops LYING everytime she opens her mouth, I will say Sara Palin is honest and trustworthy….and worthy of “consideration” based on her actual KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES.The fact that Sara Plain is a WOMEN does not qualify her to be my Vice President.”

You graduated UC-Berkeley, correct MsWalker? Then I’m writing Cal tomorrow and tell them that since I’ve spent at least as much time on the Campus as you (I went there to pick up recycling for19 years) I should have a degree! My neighbor volunteers for the SPCA, so I guess he’s ready to run the San Diego Zoo.”

“I think the Republican party took what they thought would be a smart move (albeit a cheap shot) and nominate a women they thought could be “taught” to echo their philosophies, one without much political background or savvy, who has been fairly sheltered in Alaska. They used feminism against us and challenged our intelligence. Someone will have to educate me on what a “SLAP” is.

“Your comments in your article about tanning beds…..not sure what Joe Biden’s or John Edwards’ hair have to do with that. But use of tanning beds is a sign of bad judgement. Just like cigarette smoking is linked with lung cancer, use of tanning beds is linked with skin cancer, sometimes melanoma, which can be fatal. So, there I think she gets an F for judgment.”
